Have you ever been at that point in your life where everything seems to go well, then all of a sudden, it just doesn't feel right anymore? This is something that has come up to me as I was looking back at my journey for the last couple of years. I'm blessed to have a beautiful family, career, business, and a whole lot of opportunities that have helped me along the way. But once you realize that some of the great things you have in your life aren't aligned with your purpose anymore, do we have the willingness to let go of it? Do you take the risk of going on another journey not knowing if everything will work out? These questions led me to connect with my walking partner for today, Corey Blake. In This Episode (01:01) - Understanding the journey that I've been on for the last couple of years (03:39) - Approaching purpose as a way of being with my life and the world (09:43) - Being in a limbo, and why it's an uncomfortable place for Corey (13:51) - The disorientation phase of Corey's journey (16:51) - Taking our frustration and anger out on the people that are closest to us (18:57) - Corey's collisions in life (23:20) - The ongoing connection to personal development (26:31) - The transition Corey's currently walking through (31:08) - What have I not been willing to admit to myself that I actually need to see? (38:36) - Learning how to let things fall apart (41:04) - The empowerment dynamic - the coach, the challenger, and the creator (46:04) - Why we're getting trapped in seeing the world (51:24) - The need to create more space for others to share their story (1:00:41) - Corey's water and oak tree imagery Notable Quotes “Some of these challenges are so big that they certainly can feel overwhelming and we can't tackle all of them. If we all cared about the thing I care about the most, who would care about all the other things? And they would just fall apart. We have that natural human desire for the thing that matters most to us, to matter to everyone else. The arrogance that I have to look squarely in the face when I'm inclined to rescue that asks me, who am I to think that my solution is appropriate for this person? What if they manifest what's appropriate for them? What would it look like for me to be a support mechanism for that, so they can become more of themselves as opposed to me thinking they should be more like me?” - Corey (44:12) “If we have the ability to create more healing and wholing within ourselves, the medicine that that provides to the collective is something that is immeasurable. We've got the collective purpose, which is how do we, in any way that we choose to, share that with the world? And then we've got this other kind of like, for the sake of humanity healing that we're doing by working through our journeys in this way. Because that now creates the possibility. Roger Bannister breaks the 4-minute mile after nobody else had ever done it, and then look at the next couple of years and people are breaking it left and right because now it's a possibility. If we create that healing and wholing within ourselves, even if it's not published around the world like the 4-minute mile, it creates the energetic possibility now for others. It creates a blueprint, which however we do it, somehow we connect to it.” - Luke (1:07:49) Our Guest Corey Blake is the founder and CEO of Round Table Companies (RTC). In 2021, Corey launched Round Table Storytelling Academy, where he focuses on his passion for the deeper sense of belonging that arises within a company culture when employee purpose is connected to organizational purpose. When people talk, do you actively listen without judgement? Are you asking questions because you are curious? We are excited to have Corey Blake back with us to discuss how those two things can really make a huge difference in your relationships and your own growth. As with all #fireandearthpodcast episodes we go some places you might not be expecting: pain creates growth, how sometimes the questions we ask are judgmental and how to phrase it differently so others feel psychologically safe to share and be vulnerable. We all love a good hero's journey story... in fact the movies and books you love are typically based on this story type, and who doesn't love a good hero. You may be afraid to share your authentic story from your heart because you are scared your vulnerability will lead to judgement. But, what if vulnerability is sexy and the only way to connect with others. You are probably afraid they will step back when they see the real you, but what usually happens is people lean in and love you more. So much good stuff in this episode where we discuss things like: the board of directors in your head, finding a sense of safety and belonging, sharing both your light and dark, understanding your own kryptonite, and how to be your own hero. This week's Work from the Inside Out podcast is a little different than usual. Two of my previous guests, Corey Blake and Gen Georget, returned to share the work they have been doing to help people clarify their purpose through the transformative powers of storytelling. Corey and Gen lead The Roundtable Storytelling Academy, which offers a series of transformational online courses that helps participants find their superpowers and articulate their origin story so they can step into their purpose, and redefine the relationship they hold to the narrative of their lives. I recently completed the 11-week storytelling course myself and can testify that it was an enlightening learning experience on so many levels. Together, Corey and Gen, and RTC are on a mission to share how powerful telling your story can be. Corey began his storytelling career as an actor, starring in one of the 50 greatest Superbowl ads of all time. In 2006, he created Round Table Companies (RTC). Corey spearheaded the conversion of best-selling business books into comic books with authors like Tony Hsieh, Marshall Goldsmith, Chris Anderson, and Robert Cialdini. That effort landed him in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Wired, Inc., and Forbes magazines. RTC's clients have included Microsoft, Workday, Magoosh, Zappos, and ADP. Gen Georget is an executive editor at RTC and a successful author in her own right. She is the coauthor of Gathering Around the Table with Earthkind CEO Kari Warberg Block. Gen's own book, Solace: A Journal of Human Experience, was named 2020 Book of Year for the Ottawa FACES Magazine Awards. Gen's writing and photography have been featured in The Good Mother Project, Oprah.com, Simplify Magazine, Her View from Home, The Good Men Project, Real Leaders Magazine, and Addicted2Success and she boasts her own online community of more than 35,000 followers. In this week's Work From The Inside Out podcast, learn more about RTC's Storytelling Academy: RTC is also offering four mini-courses open to the public: My Powerful Purpose, Asking Powerful Questions, Heroes Journey Crash Course and Beyond Active Listening. Corey and Gen have facilitated storytelling courses with in-tact teams in corporations, resulting in significant business, interpersonal, and individual growth. For this week's Inspirational Leadership Podcast I spoke with with Corey Blake who began his storytelling career as an actor, starring in one of the 50 greatest Superbowl ads of all time. In 2006, Corey created Round Table Companies (RTC), which serves CEOs, thought leaders, and organizations in helping them to unpack and share their authentic story through books, film & video, and art installations. I decided to change things up in this episode and instead of having Corey "talk" about the art of storytelling I had him unearth part of my story LIVE on the podcast and he gives step by step instructions as we go so you can join in and do the exercise with us. This was a beautiful and moving experience that allowed me to show up with a lot of vulnerability and model it for all of you. It also gave me a chance to lean into my intention for 2022 which is embracing #CourageOverComfort. In this episode we also discuss how to unpack the origin story behind your unique gifts and talents, why storytelling is the most profound way to elevate trust with others and how to create the psychological safety necessary for exploring our stories.

Online selling is increasingly competitive, forcing merchants to selfish and shortsighted decisions. That's according to Corey Blake, CEO of MWI, a digital marketing agency. "When we have a scarcity outlook with shortsightedness," he told me, "We're scraping and clawing to keep it all. A better approach is an abundance mentality."

In a break from our usual format, co-host Corey Blake takes his position as guest and shares some of his insights on Hope and how to “get in over your head”. Corey shares some of the key experiences that shaped his world view and helped create his love of opportunity and abundance thinking. Corey also explains how “positive thinking” and “understanding the worst case scenario” are not contradictory ideas. This episode is well worth a listen. Highlighted Quotes “Get In Over Your Head” I've said on this podcast a few times this idea I've had of “just getting in over your head”... Jumping in and seeing what happens... If there's opportunity, take advantage of it. The pattern I have seen is those opportunities build on each other, and they and they begin to compound and eventually good things continue to happen. “Worst Case Scenario” I also look at the worst case scenario a lot which sounds maybe pessimistic, but a lot of times I'll look at a situation that my previous self (the first 20 years of my life) would have said, “Here's all the negatives and that's why we're in trouble” or “that's why this isn't gonna work out.” But now I say, let me just jump straight to the worst possible thing that could happen, and then let me be okay with that… Looking at it from that perspective but doing it through a lens of hope and saying, “well, let's let's put our best foot forward and give it an honest effort so that that doesn't happen” but I know what it would look like if it did, and that's okay... that gives you a level of confidence moving forward. “Hope IS a strategy” You can't sit around or rest on your laurels and hope one day you are successful, or hope you are a good dad and wait for that hope to amount to something, Hope by itself is not a strategy… If you start any strategy with hope in mind and with optimism and ambition...then good things will happen. Today our expert guest is Corey Blake, the founder and CEO of Round Table Companies, publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press, as well as a speaker, artist, and storyteller. He's won 15 independent publishing awards and has been featured on the cover of The Wallstreet Journal as well as inside The New York Times, USA Today, Inc. Magazine, Forbes, and Wired. Corey's work has always been about helping people — and now the world needs that help more than ever. Since 2018, he has been working with PayActive to solve the paycheck-to-paycheck crisis that is hitting America. When the coronavirus started to hit the US, many people who were already living paycheck-to-paycheck were getting hours reduced or losing their jobs. When he saw how this was impacting the world, he knew that this was an area that he needed to contribute to more. Talking with people during the crisis, he started to notice some themes that have rippled through the different communities he interacts with. Amongst younger entrepreneurs, there was a quick reflex to save themselves: lay off employees quickly and mercilessly in order to stay afloat. Meanwhile, in the conscious capitalism community (in which Corey is a pillar member), there has been a tremendous amount of compassion for the workers. When Corey was still in the space of not knowing how to be of service to the community, he took part in a call for a leadership academy and it finally clicked. He started offering vulnerability art installations at conferences and events that were all about taking people from isolation to connection, and they worked. When you look at one of these vulnerability walls, all the anxiety about how different people are melts away; we realize we are all fragile individuals who are dealing with problems. Almost nobody alive has ever lived through something like this in their lifetime, and we don't know when it's going to end or what life will look like on the other side of it. That often forces us to sit with our thoughts, think about who we are today, and rediscover our identity. Corey offers some strategies people can use to purposefully find their new identity and make sense of their place in this: Finding your purpose is usually done over a longer period of time. It requires constant investigation, a relentless state of inquiry, and awareness is essential for picking out that purpose. Watching ourselves from the outside throughout this crisis is incredibly helpful. If you can watch yourself as an observer, it's easier to extend some grace. Ask different questions: Who is that version of me that's showing up? What else is available? What is the universe saying to me? List all of the things your company does or owns and decide if the world needs those differently than how you usually utilize them. If you want to take action but you don't know what to do, this is the work that has to be done. Sit with yourself and ask good questions. And if you find something that you can do, you need to start putting it into action right away. The world needs what you can provide. The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “Extend ourselves some grace right now. Be kind to ourselves. We're all having experiences we've never had before, probably at a compounding ratio that can be so overwhelming. We can be unkind in moments. We can be super judgemental in moments. We can want to come to blows with our spouse or our kids or our animals as we're all cooped up together. Ultimately, the more we can extend kindness and grace to ourselves as we go through this, the more we will do so outwardly.” -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. When vulnerability is core to your brand, what do you do with an abundance of time? You create an abundance of space. TEDx speaker, CEO of Round Table Companies and creator of the Virtual Vulnerability Wall, Corey Blake joins us for his third appearance on Influencer Networking Secrets to talk about the power of walls that talk. Corey’s company created the Virtual Vulnerability Wall as a place people could expel their inner fear, chaos, ugliness and brokenness – to be rendered beautifully through stylized graphics and calligraphy by his graphic artistry team. The results are as gripping and gorgeous as when human beings drop the façade and take ownership for their failures – it opens the door to healing, correction and renewal. “There’s something about letting things go, that creates psychological relief. When people return to the wall and see it as art … it shifts from something hidden to a moment of ownership.” – Corey Blake In this episode: How creating space for people to release their darkness into the light makes beauty from ashes The challenge we face bringing vulnerability to a world that isn’t used to it The importance of forgiving yourself when you own your behavior Corey’s misinterpreted “sidelining” during COVID-19, and how you don’t need to be a nurse or truck driver to be “on the front lines” Resources Enter Your Submission for the Virtual Vulnerability Wall HERE:

Corey Blake is the publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press and the founder and CEO of Round Table Companies (RTC), a storytelling company. Prior to starting RTC in 2005, Corey was a professional actor in Los Angeles, acting in one of the 50 greatest Super Bowl commercials of all time and guest starring on numerous popular television shows including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Shield, and Joan of Arcadia. His work with books and graphic novels has yielded 15 independent publishing awards and mentions/features in the NY Times, WSJ, USA Today, Inc., Forbes, and Wired. Corey is also the creator of the Vulnerability Wall and the Vulnerability is Sexy™ card game. His documentary of the same name won 2017 Addy and Hermes awards for branded content. Corey started his career as an actor in LA and within a few years was on the path to success with several high profile commercials and roles in primetime TV shows under his belt. He also began to produce his own small projects behind the camera, but something wasn’t feeling right to him. He was drawn to making his own way and the acting route was not one of autonomy. He moved to Chicago and started his own company and began other creative projects, leaving acting behind and hasn’t looked back. Today, he works with authors and leaders to promote their work and brands with his team at the Round Table Companies. He feels he is able to blend his creative instincts with his deeper needs to put his stamp on all that he does. In this episode we discuss: How Corey caught a break in the acting industry and then moved into directing and producing. His experience appearing in an award-winning SuperBowl Commercial, a primetime TV series, and a major motion picture. How Corey is an avid supporter and sponsor of Conscious Capitalism and has appeared on their main stage at the last seven national events. A former professional actor in Los Angeles, Corey starred in one of the 50 greatest Superbowl commercials of all time. He’s also appeared in memorable TV series like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and movies like “Fight Club.” His work with books and graphic novels has yielded 15 independent publishing awards and mentions/features in the NY Times, WSJ, USA Today, Inc., Forbes, Fast Company, and Wired. Every sales professional and entrepreneur needs a profitable brand, and the key is to build a brand online and leverage it for rapid sales growth. Corey Blake is the CEO at MWI, an international digital marketing agency. His background is in sales and business development and he has managed great sales teams over the years. Validate your brand When it comes to building a brand and then leveraging it for growth, you must begin by validating your brand. You basically want to turn off any sirens that the potential customer has about you as a seller. We all know that a stigma exists around sellers, and you likely even experience it when someone gets on the phone with you to sell you something, despite the fact that you're in sales yourself. The biggest challenge often originates from the fact that we build great brands and we know we have value to offer, but we don't know how to convince people to pay for it. How you validate your brand is critical in that process. It's simply legitimizing your brand, service, or product. You must find a third party or another way to validate it. You could share that your brand has been featured on certain sites or that you've been invited to certain events. When you're starting out, go to your customer. Offer to give a customer your product or service in exchange for their use of it. Explain that you think it will make his life better and that you'd like to ask for his testimonial. Now you've got validation and social proof to use in your next sales conversation. Personal confidence Seeing someone use your product provides you, as the seller, a certain amount of confidence as well. If you prefer, you can create great case studies or build a social media presence that includes amazing content. For MWI, for example, they can validate themselves as great content creators by creating great content. As a bonus, TSE has used those product giveaways as an opportunity to gain feedback during our initial launches so we can figure out where we need to tweak our training or our products. It also helps us build a case study. Through all of this, you'll build your own excitement and you'll develop even more confidence, which is the key to success. Begin your entrepreneur journey by selling yourself on the value you're providing to the world. [Tweet "If you can't sell yourself, you'll never sell to anyone else. Become the greatest ambassador for the value you're going to provide. #ValueAmbassador"] Linking value Once you've established confidence in your value, use your marketing to communicate it to your potential customers. It's not enough to be sold on your own value, but you must find someone else who is sold on your value as well. Find a publication that will tell its audience how legit you are. Once you've built this validation, you'll have an amazing ability to sell your product or service with exclusivity. You'll find yourself in the driver's seat and gives you leverage in your communication and makes your sale more exclusive. If you establish exclusivity, you almost won't have to sell your customers as much. You'll simply have to educate them and move them along the sales process. Exclusivity is priceless. Finding balance No one wants to be perceived as the typical used car salesman. Don't come across as gimmicky, selfish, or ignorant. Instead, strive for confident, competent, professional, and controlled. There's a balance to it. Assume your customer has never heard of your validation and mention it to him. Within the first 20 seconds, provide that validation to establish confidence and control. Find a way to organically share it without being perceived as cocky. The alarms about whether you're legit will shut down. Then you can offer the idea that you only work with a certain kind of brand, and that allows you to operate with a lot more control. Close early, close often Make sure you're asking for the business. Develop specific strategies to close deals. Beautiful branding and validation won't matter if you can't close. Consistently think strategically about how you'll move this sale to the place you want it. Provide the customer with the right information and the right details so that she'll be ready to close. Closing amounts to more than the way you speak, the speed of your speech, and the tone of your voice. These things do constantly lead to close, but you have to figure out how to move to the specific points along the process. Many sellers are fearful of the conversion side so they hold off too long. Or they get anxious and they ask for the sale way too soon. If you follow the process, that's where you'll see the difference. Sales process You can have all the right components in place, but without a repeatable sales process, you'll struggle to support your sales. If your process isn't organized in a way that leads to close at all times, you won't succeed. Determine how to leverage all the components you've gathered to move your customers toward a deal. Leverage your value, your validation, your exclusivity, and your communication to ask for the business. Corey's goal at the end of the sales process is to structure the process so that the _customer_ asks for the next steps without him having to sell it. That's when you know you've hit the nail on the head. Organizing your tools Corey worked with James Carberry at Sweetfish Media to help him set up a process of validation. James already had significant validation because he had a large number of podcasts with great guests and he writes for large publications. They simply had to find a way to organize the validation. In their case, all the tools were sitting there waiting to be used. Focus on providing real value. Sell yourself on the value you're providing to individuals and industry. When you love what you're doing and you aren't simply trying to make a buck, people will want to be part of that. Good businesses are built on products that will make a difference. It doesn't have to be an altruistic notion like ending world hunger. We would all benefit if we could go to work every day and provide value that you believe in to everyone else. In the age of digital communication and connection, we are finding more and more that stories are the way we connect deeper. Companies are learning to use stories to help their customers trust them and their brand. CEOs are using stories to share their vision and connect with their employees. Conscious Capitalism got its genesis in 2013 when Whole Foods CEO, John Mackey, wanted to share his vision for what a good corporation that benefited the employees and the community would look and act like. It was his story. Compassionate Capitalism happens when an investor connects with the story the entrepreneur shares on the problem they are solving, and how and why. Karen Rands, founder of the Compassionate Capitalist Movement, will explore the art of story telling and how her special guest, Corey Blake, is using Conscious Capitalism to elevate humanity through business storytelling. For both, the art of making money, capitalism, increases when one understands that more money, not less, is created when the capitalist is committed to doing good, using their capital -- human and financial -- for the better good. Today our expert guest, Corey Blake, shares two unique but powerful tools for both personal and business development: storytelling and vulnerability. Corey is the Publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press and the founder & CEO of Round Table Companies, where he has spent over a decade helping business leaders use storytelling to transform themselves and their organizations. Corey spent a past life as an actor, acting in everything from commercials to movies to TV. But after he became disillusioned with acting, he started to shift to more behind-the-scenes roles and getting into the storytelling aspect of entertainment. However, he felt the need to do something a little more predictable or “normal,” so he started pursuing writing jobs. And when people started approaching him looking for help writing their books, “suddenly, this thing that was very practical became creative.” One of the first books he worked on was Robert Renteria's From the Barrio to the Board Room, and seeing the way that book inspired people to change their lives solidified Corey's new focus: using stories to connect people and help them reshape their own identity. Today, Corey primarily helps businesses tell their stories. “Everyone who starts or leads a business is an artist, and they're using that business as a canvas, essentially painting a version of the world that they want to see,” Corey says. “That's a story worth telling. That's a story worth sharing.” The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “Leadership is a lifetime lifestyle commitment... We get the companies we deserve; businesses that we build are a reflection of who we are. If we want to have more impact in the world, we have to start with ourselves. So committing to doing our own personal work on this journey expands our capabilities, as business people, immensely, and it is a lifestyle commitment.” -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. Conscious Capitalism is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Started by Whole Foods co-founder John Mackey and professor Raj Sisodia, "conscious businesses" are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders. In this episode of On Books I discuss Conscious Capitalism, the book, the movement and the publishing company. Corey is the publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press, the founder and CEO of Round Table Companies (RTC), and a speaker, artist, and storyteller. He previously starred in one of the 50 greatest Superbowl commercials of all time (Mountain Dew, Bohemian Rhapsody), has won 15 independent publishing awards, and has been featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal and in the New York Times, USA Today, Inc. Magazine, Forbes, and Wired. Good storytelling is essential to both great leadership and great marketing. At the core of telling great stories, is the ability to be real and to go beyond the superficial level. You can accomplish this by having the courage to be vulnerable. Corey Blake is the Founder and CEO of Round Table Companies (RTC) and is also the publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press. Some of RTC’s clients include Microsoft, First United Bank, and Marketo. Corey has spent over 12 years helping business leaders use storytelling to transform themselves and their organizations. When Corey’s mother was diagnosed with depression and had also exhibited traits of bipolar disorder, Corey began to learn really quickly how to read a room and develop survival tactics to reduce the number of outbursts and to make his mother laugh. It was through this experience that he discovered (although unconsciously at the time) he liked being a performer and went to school for acting. After Corey got married, he decided to make a transition from acting to something a little more consistent, so he started his own company! Before RTC, Corey created two other storytelling companies for the film industry. He learned a lot of valuable lessons and did a lot right but in the end, he made some huge mistakes he could not recover from. As Corey worked with his clients at RTC, he and his team saw the kind of impact they were able to have on their clients when the client felt safe enough to be vulnerable in their story. They would often share things they hadn’t even told their spouses or, it was the first time they even expressed these vulnerabilities out loud to themselves. Flipping the script, when Corey was able to become vulnerable with his team (and vice versa) about trying to avoid making the same mistakes he made at his prior two companies, a deep and profound trust was developed. By having the courage to express vulnerability in the workforce, the team was able to grow in a meaningful way and had each other’s backs. Corey has been storytelling for two decades since he graduated from Millikin University with a BFA in theatre in 1996. His epiphany moment in storytelling came after he played the lead in a show at Millikin called “Jeffrey.” Three months after the show closed, Corey was called by a theatre 90 minutes away who was putting on the same show, but whose lead had fallen ill. Corey was asked to drive down immediately, block out the play that afternoon with their actors, and put on the show that evening. With the help of his previous director, Corey performed the leading role, on stage for the entire two-hour show, in front of 300 people that night. He was never afraid of taking the big swing again.Working in Los Angeles for a decade, Corey was the face and voice behind a dozen Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 brands as a commercial and voiceover actor (his work won Belding, Addy, Cannes, and London International Advertising awards), before working as a film producer and director, as an author and award-winning publisher, and now as the founder and president of Round Table Companies.Check out Corey’s TEDx talk, Vulnerability is Sexy and keep an eye out for Corey's HERMES and ADDY award winning short documentary by the same name.Corey is the co-author of numerous books, including Edge! Corey Blake comes on today's episode to share with us the value in being openly vulnerable in today's world, how that's impacted the success of his business and relationships, and how he's spreading the word. In 2005 he started Round Table Companies, which is a story telling company that supports organizations, CEO's and thought leaders. Corey believes every successful company or person has a compelling story to tell, and he helps them verbalize it in a way that's captivating, appealing and leads to deeper connections with their audiences. Getting back to Core Values, RTC actually has seven of them: Brilliance Love Momentum Honesty Community Growth Courage Corey went into detail on three of these values: Brilliance allows for a black and white approach to the quality of work they produce. “Is it brilliant or not? Do we feel magic in it?” If the answer to either of these is “no”, then it's back to the drawing board. Love it! The staff at RTC and their clients are challenged to lean into Courage in all the work they do, to dig in there and do things that might scare them. Momentum for any creative agency is key in finding the magic and poetry in everything they do. What a fortuitous coincidence, “Momentum” is my theme for the week! Corey practices what he preaches in a big way, and actually has an executive coach on retainer for his staff of 40 to take advantage of at any time. He firmly believes in developing himself and his team and notes: “The company is only as strong as I am and the company only has the capacity that I represent as its leadership. As we continue to grow, that expands to the capacity of other people on the leadership team… ultimately we'll get the company that we deserve.” In addition to running RTC, Corey is fully invested in the “Vulnerability is Sexy” movement that he's created. It's a metaphor for the work they do in the world by supporting people that invite their audience into a loving space where they get to know each other's humanity. The movement is catching on and gaining momentum (there's that core value again). “Vulnerability is Sexy” started back in 2014 when Corey and his team created a concept called the Vulnerability Wall after seeing how people at conferences didn't take risks until the end when it was time to leave. The wall is a huge, blank canvas on display and people can drop their insecurities, secrets, shames and vulnerabilities in a box and his artists will turn them into beautiful representations on the canvas. This helps people relieve themselves of some of their burdens and to quickly honor each other's humanity. “When we have the strength to be vulnerable, there's an opportunity for an alignment check.” Ultimately, if you're interested in growth and living a life of purpose, then displaying your vulnerability will guide you to this even though there may be some pain associated with it. Corey's a super insightful, caring and open person and we really enjoyed our discussion, as I'm sure you will as well. SOME QUESTIONS I ASK: How does Corey promote personal growth within his company? What led him to create the “Vulnerability is Sexy” movement? Who inspires Corey to be the person he is? How did Corey's Tedx talk come about? IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: How Corey plans to bring more personal development strategies to his staff How you can be more connected or in-touch and reflective when conversing with others How an executive coach can help your staff and company grow both personally and professionally Why and how Corey took his “Vulnerability is Sexy” idea and turned it into a full-on movement What the concept of “follow the invite” is all about Plus much more… DON'T STOP HERE… Round Table Companies Vulnerability is Sexy T-shirt Vulnerability Wall on RTC's Pinterest Page “Vulnerability is Sexy” TedxSalisbury Talk Twitter | Email ADDITIONAL RESOURCES Stagen Leadership Academy
