Geopolitics with Ghost Ep. 6: Lexington to Luhansk – The Revolutionary Thread from 1775 to Trump's Global Peace Play

In this special Geopolitics with Ghost, host Gordon McCormick (aka Ghost) draws a powerful line from the battles of Lexington and Concord to today's multipolar geopolitical landscape. Ghost begins with a sweeping retelling of the American Revolution's origins, complete with Patrick Henry's legendary “Give me liberty or give me death” speech, Paul Revere's midnight ride, and the vital role of Virginia in catalyzing a movement that would change the course of human history. But this isn't just a history lesson, it's a framework for understanding how power, sovereignty, and narrative warfare continue to play out globally. Pivoting to the present, Ghost dissects the ongoing Ukraine-Russia peace talks led by Trump envoy Steve Wyckoff, and how Putin, Iran, and even Qatar are positioning themselves as key players in a new diplomatic alliance, one that bypasses the neocon and NGO apparatus of the West. He examines tensions within MAGA foreign policy circles, the deep state's media machine, and why Russia views Trump as a trusted negotiator. With expert breakdowns of Syria, Kurdistan, Netanyahu's war posture, Trump's Middle East endgame, and the weaponized role of NGOs and narrative management, this episode is a masterclass in pattern recognition. From 1775 to 2025, the revolution never ended...it just changed battlefields.

Can spirituality help solve the chaos of our modern world?Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with S.B. Keshava Swami as he shares wisdom from his travels and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. We explore Krishna's ‘peace formula' and ask whether shifting from materialism to spirituality can bring harmony to both individuals and society. This discussion goes beyond theory. We take a hard look at real-world problems like economic and environmental crises, examining the role of greed and selfishness. But who is responsible for driving this change, and how can we create opportunities for a higher awareness? We also tackle the challenge of spiritual bypassing and ask whether true spiritual awakening can be the solution our world urgently needs. Finally, we embrace the present moment, the ‘be here, be now' mindset, and the beauty of seeing the divine in everyday life. This is more than a discussion—it's an invitation to find peace and spread it. Are you building a culture of generosity and significance in your life and business? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and John discuss: Three things to do every day to be a great leader.Making a difference and living a significant life.Add value to people every day, believe in them, and love them. Understanding your personal, financial finish line. The relationship between generosity and gratitude.Building a healthy and generous culture in your business.  Key Takeaways: Success is about you, significance is about others. If God gave you the gift to make money, He gave you the gift to make money to be generous. Generosity is the fruit of gratitude. We are rarely good at our first attempt. Life requires self-accountability, practice, and persistence. Move forward doing the right things, for the right reasons, with the right motives.Give now. Give while you're alive so you know where the money is going. If it is in your net worth, it is not worth anything to anybody else.Generosity is not tied to finances. If you aren't giving now, you won't give when you're older.  "Be very careful that you give in the right places…I want to give money where people's lives are being beautifully, incredibly changed." —  John Maxwell Episode References: High Road Leadership Book & Online Course: https://store.maxwellleadership.com/products/copy-of-high-road-leadership-bringing-people-together-in-a-world-that-divides-five-book-bundle-including-online-course About John Maxwell: John C. How China safeguards its interests amid conflict in Myanmar

Ear to Asia

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 1, 2024 52:21

With escalating military conflict between Myanmar's ruling junta and various ethnic armed organisations (or EAOs) in recent months, China is pursuing a delicate balancing act along their shared 2200 km border, juggling its economic interests, security concerns, and regional reputation. While Beijing has traditionally supported the junta, recent events have signalled the limits of such backing as the regime appears to weaken. In Northern Shan State, a region with a rich tapestry of ethnic groups and militias – many at odds with the central government – China has attempted to position itself as a mediator, convening peace talks and exerting pressure on various factions. Meanwhile, reverberations of the unrest have been felt across the border in China's Yunnan Province, impacting trade, border security, and prompting calls for a potential Chinese security presence in Myanmar. So what's really at stake for China as events in Myanmar become increasingly uncertain? How much do Beijing's aspirations in the region rely on continued support for the ruling junta? And what constructive role, if any, could Beijing play in a more peaceful future for Myanmar? Jason Tower, Myanmar country director for the United States Institute of Peace, and Dr Pascal Abb, China foreign policy analyst at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, examine the intersection of Myanmar's fate and China's interests with Ear to Asia host Sami Shah.
