Ingresamos a Villa Hermosa, una de las zonas más azotadas por la violencia en San Miguel Petapa, a escasos 16 kilómetros de la Ciudad de Guatemala. Es un barrio donde, por 10 años, las pandillas han ejercido un control implacable, apoderándose de las propiedades y desplazando a sus habitantes, quienes huyen para no ser asesinados. En Villa Hermosa, logramos contactar a una vecina del sector que sobrevive vendiendo ropa y zapatos usados. Por su seguridad y petición expresa, mantendremos su identidad en reserva. “Dejan las casas abandonadas” “Mire, en una casita que está por allá atrás, la cerraron, porque dijeron que sí, habían invadido. Sí, mareros, pero lograron sacar a esa gente”, cuenta la mujer de 65 años que vive en este sector de Villa Hermosa desde hace 38 años, pero asegura que los últimos 10 años la delincuencia aumentó exponencialmente. “Pónganle, pónganle que ellos se dedican a extorsionar, los mareros, extorsionar, roban las baterías de los carros”, dice. “Fíjese que ahí lo que hemos oído es que los dueños ya no pueden llegar porque los amenazan y todo. Ya dejan ahí las casitas abandonadas”, prosigue. “Porque aquí era bien tranquilo (…) Pero siempre, mire, ahorita con el temor de que viene la Navidad, va uno a comprar con aquel temor de que le quiten a uno cualquier cosa, los centavitos, cuando uno va a comprar”, afirma. Otra ex vecina de Villa Hermosa, quien se fue del lugar hace años debido a la delincuencia, cuenta su experiencia. Ella también prefiere mantenerse en el anonimato: “Los que estamos más vulnerables acá somos los que vivimos a diario la inseguridad total, tanto del Ministerio de Gobernación, del mismo Gobierno y de todas las instituciones del Estado, que serían los obligados y encargados de velar por la ciudadanía, no lo hacen, porque ellos son parte de eso también”, considera. “Transformadas en bases de operaciones” “Abandonar el hogar, como opción ante amenazas de muerte. En esos casos específicos, es mucho más fácil apropiarse de esas casas que quedan en abandono. El principal mecanismo que facilita esa usurpación es esa coacción económica que se ejerce contra la población. Económica, violenta. Las viviendas afectadas se encuentran en la mayoría de los casos en zonas marginales, marginalidad social, que por definición ya tienen limitado acceso a servicios básicos e incluso a la justicia formal, debido a esta idea de criminalización de la pobreza”, explica a RFI Ludwin Álvarez, antropólogo y consultor experto en seguridad y justicia. “Esas casas que están ubicadas en zonas de alta densidad, como la zona 18, Mixco, Villanueva, son transformadas casi siempre en bases de operaciones, en puntos de distribución para narcotraficantes, o centros de planificación para extorsiones. Entonces, al controlar esos espacios se refuerza como la gobernanza criminal. Ahí se imponen reglas, se limita la acción policial y eso es fundamental para mantener ese flujo de ingresos ilícitos que sostienen su estructura y también ese territorio criminal”, analiza. “Actualmente la tasa nacional en Guatemala es mucho menor, es de 16 por cada 100 mil habitantes. Entonces, la respuesta institucional a ese contexto de violencia ha sido, por lo general, por lo menos en la actualidad, la gestión ordinaria de la crisis y el conflicto”, concluye Álvarez. La impunidad y la falta de Estado de derecho La fuga de 20 reos causó en la población una alarma y un miedo generalizado. Algunas personas prefieren no hablar del tema por temor a represalias por las pandillas. Entre los más afectados del área metropolitana están Ciudad de Guatemala y municipios como Mixco, Villa Nueva, Villa Canales, San Juan Sacatepéquez, San Miguel Petapa, Chinautla y Amatitlán. En dichas áreas operan con más frecuencia las maras, tanto el Barrio 18 como la Mara Salvatrucha. Según medios locales que viralizaron esta información en las últimas semanas, hay 13 mil denuncias por usurpación en el país. En ese mismo período, el Estado ejecutó 99 desalojos, es decir, solo el 0.76 % de las víctimas logró recuperar su propiedad. Según Astrid Escobedo, especialista en democracia y violencia, “las mayores causas de esto es por la falta de Estado de derecho y la falta de control, además porque los políticos se dejaron comprar por los delincuentes, son los que los eligen entonces no hay quien pueda combatirlos”. “La gente sale de su país por la violencia y están los que deben huir con sus hijos principalmente adolescentes, y si no huyen los grupos del narcotráfico los están reclutando y si no quieren ser parte de las estructuras criminales los matan”, subraya. Las estructuras criminales siguen operando a nivel nacional sin ningún problema porque las condiciones las mantienen bien fortalecidas desde hace décadas, como también la usurpación de viviendas que se ha normalizado. El objetivo final de este control territorial es mantener el flujo de ingresos ilícitos que sostienen tanto a la estructura criminal como al territorio criminal que han establecido, según expertos.

Sonidos históricos sobre lo acompaña Chucho Valdés con su combo del año 1963. El AfroCuban jazz más contemporáneo llega a la manera del notable saxofonista, arreglista y compositor Román Filiú. Junto a los pianistas Pepe Rivero y Melón Lewis; Yelsy Heredia en contrabajo; Carlitos Sarduy en trompeta, llega Román desde el Madrid del año 2006 con algunos cortes de su álbum joya "Blowing reflections". Sonido setentero en los minutos finales gracias al arte de Miguel Ángel Rasalps. El Léle dejó una huella memorable en la discografia cubana. Una de las voces altas de la música popular, luego de su paso por "Van Van" sumaba su original estilo a los "Reyes 73".

En Estanislao Zeballos y Lamadrid, frente a la Comisaría 10°, se acumulan autos y motos desde hace años, muchos en desuso y aún no retirados por el plan provincial de reordenamiento. Francisco Javier Mosácula, Historiador y Presidente de la Asociación de Vecinos del Barrio de El Salvador, nos habla de la Conferencia sobre La Iglesia de San Esteban 

La preocupación por la seguridad en el centro de Ferrol centró la reunión celebrada en Radio Voz con comerciantes, hosteleros, vecinos y la concejala de Seguridad. Olegario Álvarez, presidente del CCA A Magdalena, alertó de un incremento de robos y situaciones intimidatorias, incluido un individuo armado con una pata de cabra que recorre los comercios en horas de poca afluencia. Asegura que muchos delitos se cometen a plena luz del día y que los autores actúan “con absoluta impunidad”. El presidente de los hosteleros, Emilio Vázquez, confirmó un aumento de hurtos, agresiones y comportamientos violentos, especialmente en fines de semana. Pedro Sanz, representante vecinal, advirtió de que el desorden público ha llevado incluso a algunos residentes a abandonar el barrio, reclamando la llegada de la Unidad de Prevención y Reacción (UPR) de forma permanente. La concejala Pamen Pieltaín defendió que Ferrol “es una ciudad segura”, aunque reconoció la necesidad de reforzar la presencia policial. Anunció la incorporación de nuevos agentes, la implantación de Policía de Barrio y la instalación de cámaras de videovigilancia en zonas conflictivas y accesos a parkings. Aseguró que el Concello sigue trabajando en coordinación con Policía Local y Nacional para mejorar la prevención y responder a las demandas de comerciantes, hosteleros y vecinos.

(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Spanish priest acquitted on hate crime charges for criticizing radical Islam A Spanish Catholic priest who was facing three years in prison for making critical remarks about radical Islam nearly a decade ago has been acquitted, reports The Christian Post. The advocacy organization Abogados Cristianos announced in an X post last Friday that “The Malaga Court [acquitted] Pastor Custodio [Ballester], prosecuted for criticizing Islam: there is no hate crime.” In 2016, Ballester was charged with saying, “Islam does not allow for dialogue. You either believe or you are an infidel who must be subdued one way or another.” The Rev. Franklin Graham praised Ballester's acquittal as “good news” in an X post on Monday.  A report published last month by the Spanish Observatory for Religious Freedom and Conscience found that 69% of the attacks were directed at Christians, while instances of antisemitism grew by 38% compared to 2023 and had increased by 867% since 2022. Senator Schumer's shutdown flip flop, afraid of an AOC challenge Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate, has historically opposed government shutdowns. He opposed a shutdown on October 16, 2013. SCHUMER: “What if I persuaded my caucus to say I'm going to shut the government down. I'm going to not pay our bills unless I get my way. It's a politics of idiocy, of confrontation, of paralysis.” Then, Senator Schumer opposed a government shutdown on January 25, 2019. SCHUMER: “Shutting down government over a policy difference is self-defeating. We can never hold American workers hostage again.” And, as recently as March 13th of this year, Senator Schumer opposed a government shutdown then. SCHUMER:  “While the [Continuing Resolution] bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse. Therefore, I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down.” But now, Democratic Senator Schumer is leading the fight for the government shutdown, driven by the AOC/Sanders wing of his party. Listen to CNN's John Berman's introduction of his recent appearance. BERMAN: “Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who joins us now from Capitol Hill. Senator, I was saying that every Republican who's gone on TV the last, what nine hours or so, has called this the ‘Schumer Shutdown.” Later, Berman said this. BERMAN: “Everyone in Congress right now, on the Republican side, is really pointing the finger squarely at you personally. And one of the things they're saying is, this is about politics in New York, that you might face a primary from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.” In fact, Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana said as much. KENNEDY: “Senator Schumer, his relationship with the truth is very casual. The truth is that this is a political shutdown. Senator Schumer is nervous as a pregnant nun about losing his re-election to the socialist wing of his party led by Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, which is in control. “Now, we will eventually come out of this shutdown. Here's how I think it will happen. Senator Schumer is a smart man. He's been around a long time. His first car was a chariot. Washington is all he's ever known his entire life. He knows he's on shaky ground here in terms of policy. “So, here's how I think it'll end. Schumer will go to six or eight of his colleagues, Democrats of course, and say, ‘I want you to vote to lift the shutdown.' He'll say, ‘I can't vote with you. I've got to appear to be tough. I may even have to criticize you, but' -- wink wink, nod nod – ‘I'm trying to make the loon wing of the party love me, but you bail me out here.' But he's got to be careful with that, because he doesn't want it to look like a mutiny, because then he looks even weaker.” CA teacher to ICE: “They are not the only ones with guns in this city.” The Department of Homeland Security will refer a California teacher for a possible criminal probe after he made threatening comments toward immigration officials, reports WorldNetDaily.com. Listen to Los Angeles Unified School District history teacher Ron Gochez. GOCHEZ: “Don't forget where you're standing. This is South Central Los Angeles. They are not the only ones with guns in this city. They're not the only ones that don't forget that. And I don't say that because we're calling it for violence. I'm saying that because the people have every right to defend themselves against masked, unidentified gunmen with AR-15s and other military rifles.” Gochez founded the Los Angeles chapter of Union del Barrio—a revolutionary socialist movement that demands an end to capitalism and open borders from Alaska to Chile. The group sees communist dictators like Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Che Guevara as heroes. DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said that the teacher's comments endanger ICE agents' lives. New Bible story book injects sexual perversion, gender confusion, and woke ideology And finally, a new children's book of Bible stories claims that the Bible has "made-up" stories and events in its pages, drawing criticism from Focus on the Family, reports The Christian Post. The Just Love Story Bible, authored by Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis and Rev. Dr. Shannon Harris, reimagines 52 stories from the Old and New Testaments, weaving in sexual perversion, gender confusion, and woke ideology. For them, the Bible is not authoritative; they are. In the book's introduction to Genesis, the woke authors, who are part of the leftist Presbyterian Church (USA), write, "Some of the stories had made-up characters and events. Others were about real people and things that really happened." Harris, an associate dean at Auburn Theological Seminary in New York City, explained her motivation behind the project at a Q&A event for the book in September. HARRIS: “I wanted to do this project with Jackie, because when my kids were little, it was really hard to find a children's Bible that I didn't feel like I had to change some of the words. Like there might be stories that talked about God, like God was a boy (laughing) and only used kind of male language for God. Or they might tell a story, but they wouldn't tell enough about the story to understand whether it was about a made-up character or a real person.” Later, to the audience of parents and young children, she read an excerpt from her woke Just Love Story Bible in which she reinterpreted the plagues and other punishments that God had sent to get Pharoah's attention or the attention of His chosen people, the Jews. HARRIS: “Four natural disasters, one after the other. Well, the prophet and the people thought they were to blame. They thought that the disasters were God's way of punishing them. They didn't know that when bad things happen, like swarms of bugs, floods, earthquakes or tornadoes, it's not God's punishment, but it's easy to worry when bad things happen, to feel like God's angry at you, even when that's not true.” Inspired by the Joel 2:28 passage, Harris also imagined what a young person might envision. HARRIS: “So what did the young people prophesy back then? Perhaps one of them bravely announced to the prophets, priests and people: ‘I don't believe that our loving God sends terrible things to teach us a lesson.'” In an op-ed published by Focus on the Family's news arm, Daily Citizen, Paul Batura warned families about The Just Love Story Bible. He said, "[T]he motives of the authors appear broader and far more dangerous than merely trumpeting diversity. They also want to sow seeds of doubt in children's minds that the events depicted in the Bible are literally true, including the Resurrection.” He added, "Questioning the accuracy and authority of the Bible is hardly a new exercise, but so blatantly and openly selling such a heretical interpretation of God's Word to children undermines God's sacred Word in a particularly dangerous and destructive way." 1. El Salvador’s CECOT Mega-Prison for Gang Members Senator Cruz describes his recent visit to El Salvador, where he toured the CECOT (Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo) prison. The prison was built to house up to 40,000 of the country’s most dangerous gang members (MS-13, Barrio 18). Conditions: Cells hold 100 prisoners each, with bunk beds stacked four levels high. Prisoners are locked in cells 23 hours a day, with 1 hour allowed for exercise and religious instruction (both mandatory). No cellphones—blocked with jammers, with heavy fines for carriers if a call gets through. Monitored constantly by guards with machine guns and 24/7 lighting. Cruz compares it to U.S. prisons, noting it is much harsher and more controlled. He highlights the dramatic drop in El Salvador’s homicide rate (down ~98%), attributing it to President Bukele’s crackdown and mass incarceration of gang members. He even interviews an MS-13 member from Texas who admitted to murder in El Salvador and hinted at crimes in the U.S. The inmate expressed regret about his son possibly joining a gang but acknowledged that El Salvador’s new security situation made that less likely. 2. Panama Canal and Chinese Influence Cruz also traveled to Panama, where he toured the Panama Canal and met with government officials. He emphasizes Panama’s strategic importance to U.S. national security and commerce. Concerns raised: Chinese companies control key infrastructure near the canal, including ports, a bridge under construction, and a metro tunnel project. Cruz warns this could give China leverage to disrupt U.S. military and commercial shipping if conflict arises (e.g., over Taiwan). He pressed Panamanian officials to remove Chinese control and noted ongoing negotiations to transfer two Chinese-run ports to a U.S. consortium.
