What if the next chapter of your career is not full-time, but fully aligned? In this episode of Corporate Cafecito, Nallely and Carlos are talking about fractional work, what it means, why it is growing, and why so many professionals are starting to see it as more than just a backup plan.Fractional CFOs, COOs, CHROs, consultants, strategists, and operators are stepping into companies for a season, solving real problems, and bringing years of experience without being tied to one permanent role. But let's be honest, mi gente. This shift comes with both opportunity and concern. For some, fractional work creates freedom, flexibility, and a chance to use your expertise on your own terms. For others, it may feel like another sign that secure corporate jobs are changing. So we're talking about it all:✨ What fractional work really means✨ Why it is becoming more common✨ How it can help entrepreneurs and small businesses✨ What to consider before saying yes✨ Why your resume, skill set, and confidence matter more than everBecause sometimes the next move is not about starting over.Sometimes it is about realizing that what you already know has value.Pour your cafecito, bring your questions, y vámonos. This conversation is one many of us need right now.Watch the full episode at www.corpcafecito.com#CorporateCafecito #LatineProfessionals #CareerGrowth #FractionalWork #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #LatinasInBusiness #LatinosInBusiness #CareerStrategy #CafecitoConPurposeSupport the showIf you'd like to join Nallely y Carlos for a conversation, collaborate, or suggest a topic that matters to our community, we would love to hear from you. She never left, familia. We just refilled the cafecito. Michele Garcia stayed with me for part two of our Corporate Cafecito conversation, and I'm so grateful she did. What started as a conversation about her career in law enforcement became something much deeper. We talked about what it means to serve for more than 25 years, to carry the weight of difficult work, to be a Latina in spaces where women were not always expected to lead, and to still find your way with strength, humor, and corazón.Michele opened up about the personal side of the job too. The impact it can have on your health, your family, your sleep, your peace, and the way you start asking yourself what life should look like after giving so much of yourself to your career. One part that really stayed with me was how she talked about mentorship. She saw another young Latina coming up in the department, recognized her potential, and made room for her. Not because she had to, but because she understood what it feels like to be overlooked and what it means when someone finally sees you. That is what lift as you climb really looks like.It is honest. It is powerful. And it is a reminder that our stories matter, especially when they help someone else believe that they belong too.Don't forget to check out her book Model Detective. It's out now, and she shares her story and what it was really like working those cases. If you want to learn more about her journey, you can visit her website at https://modeldetectivebook.com/.Watch the episode here now: www.corpcafecito.comSo, what's in your cafecito today?

In this episode of Thriving in Intersectionality, Dr. Lola Adeyemo sits down with Rachel Edmondson Clark to explore how identity, lived experience, and internal patterns shape how we lead—especially under pressure. Rachel shares a deeply personal journey, from growing up observing human behavior in her mother's salon to quickly rising through corporate leadership roles—and eventually experiencing burnout that forced her to pause and rethink how she was showing up in her work and life. Through this conversation, we explore how intersectionality shows up not only in visible identities but also in internal drivers like high standards, people-pleasing, and the pressure to perform. A central theme in this episode is the distinction between capability and capacity. Many leaders focus on building skills and doing more—but often overlook the importance of restoring energy, recognizing internal signals, and creating the conditions for sustainable leadership. Rachel offers a powerful reframe: "Sustainable leadership isn't just about what you can do. It's about how well you can continue to show up."
After my first conversation with Michelle Martinez, I knew I wanted her back on the podcast. There was something about the way she talks about connection that stayed with me.So I invited her back, and this time the conversation went even deeper. What I appreciate about Michelle is that she doesn't talk about connection in a surface way. She talks about it in a way that makes you pause and really think about how you move through life and the people around you.At some point, we found ourselves talking about something I know so many of us are feeling right now, even if we're not always saying it out loud. The need for real comunidad. Not networking. Not transactional conversations. Just real connection. The kind where you feel seen, understood, and like you don't have to perform.Michelle said something that really stayed with me. Sometimes just witnessing someone else live their life is enough to remind you what's possible for your own. That stayed with me, because so much of what we're building, in life and in our careers, comes down to the people we surround ourselves with and the spaces we choose to create. This conversation felt honest, grounding, and needed.Gracias Michelle for coming back and sharing your heart. If you've been craving something more real lately, I think this episode will speak to you. Fe • Confianza • Incertidumbre • Ansiedad • Esperanza • Propósito • Paz • Fortaleza

ESTE EPISODIO NO LLEGA A TU VIDA POR CASUALIDAD…Si alguna vez te has preguntado…¿POR QUÉ SOY COMO SOY?¿Por qué repito patrones que ya no quiero?¿Por qué, aunque lo intento, siento que no cambio?Entonces esto es para ti.
Alex Miranda came to Chicago planning to stay for six months.Fourteen years later, he's still here.We had him on Corporate Cafecito this week, and I went into the conversation thinking we were going to talk about marketing. We did, but it ended up being more about people than anything else. One thing he said really stuck with me. We spend so much time thinking about logos, colors, websites…all the visible parts of a brand. But that's not what people remember. They remember how you made them feel. And I started thinking about how often we're building something a business, a career, a personal brand without ever really stopping to define that part. We assume people “get it,” but sometimes they don't. And when they don't, that's where the disconnect happens. We also talked about how marketing is shifting. It's less about labeling people and more about understanding shared experiences. That part hit home, especially for the work we do and the community we care about. And yes, we touched on AI too. It's helpful, no doubt. But it still can't replace real human creativity or the way people connect with something that feels genuine.I don't know… this one made me pause a bit.If someone had to describe your brand today, would it sound the way you think it does?
Some conversations stay with you. This was one of them.I had the opportunity to sit down with Michelle Martinez, and what I thought would be a light conversation turned into something much deeper. We talked about work, not the kind we put on our resumes, but the kind we feel every day, and if we're being honest, work feels heavy right now.Not because we don't care and not because we're not capable, but because somewhere along the way, work stopped making sense. In this episode, we talk about why so many of us feel overwhelmed even when we're doing everything right, what “collaboration fatigue” really is and why it's draining us, why communication isn't just a skill but the foundation of everything, and how we start creating space to just be human again at work. There was one moment that really stayed with me. Michelle shared how she paused everything with her team and said, “let's just complain,” no fixing it, no judgment, just listening, and in that space, people felt seen and things actually started to shift.Y eso me hizo pensar…how often do we give ourselves permission to pause, to reflect, to say this isn't working?Familia, you are not alone in this. You're not behind and you're not doing it wrong. Maybe the system just needs to change.

This week on Corporate Cafecito, I had the opportunity to sit down with Chicago native, leadership coach, and author Isaias Mercado to talk about his new book releasing today, March 10th:
In moments like this, when immigration conversations feel heavy and uncertain, it becomes even more important to center lived experience. This week on Corporate Cafecito, Nallely sits down with Reyna Grande, who crossed the border at nine years old as an undocumented child. She shares what that journey felt like. Being caught twice. Hiding from helicopters. Running across a freeway in the dark. Arriving hungry. Living in survival mode. But what stayed with us most was what came after.Family separation.Reunification that was painful and complicated.Feeling emotionally homeless.Choosing education as her pathway forward.Right now, when immigration is reduced to headlines and political talking points, listening to stories like Reyna's matters.Because behind every debate are children.Behind every policy are families.Reyna has written nine books that center immigrant voices with dignity and truth. Her work reminds us that immigration is human.
Today's Corporate Cafecito episode is live, and I'm bringing Marie Quintana back because her journey cannot be contained in a single conversation. In this episode, we go deep into the corporate chapters that shaped her leadership. From choosing systems engineering at IBM before laptops were even a thing, to leading complex transformations at PepsiCo during major acquisitions, to building what became the Multicultural Center of Excellence at a time when multicultural strategy wasn't even part of the business conversation. What makes this conversation powerful isn't the titles. It's the leadership moments we don't talk about enough. The meetings that didn't land. The resistance to change. The fear in the room. And Marie's decision to stay, listen, and meet people one on one because real leadership starts with humanity. We talk about non linear career paths, curiosity as a strategy, and what it means to keep walking into rooms where you are still the only Latina. Doing it afraid. Doing it anyway. Si tú puedes, tú puedes. If your career path hasn't looked the way you thought it would, if you're stepping into something new, or if you've ever wondered whether you're ready, this episode will meet you right where you are.

Chicago is frozen right now.❄️☕ Chicago is frozen right now. Negative digits over the weekend, snow on the ground, and one of those mornings where everything feels a little slower. The kind of day where you wrap your hands around your mug and sit with your cafecito instead of rushing through it.That kind of morning invites reflection.Because in this episode, we talk about trust. Not the buzzword version. The lived version. The kind that shows up in small moments at work. In who you confide in. In who shows up consistently. In who feels safe and who quietly doesn't.In this conversation, we explore ☕ How trust is built over time ☕ What erodes trust in the workplace ☕ Why predictability matters more than proximity ☕ Boundaries, feedback, and trust without oversharingLa confianza se construye despacio. Con acciones. Con coherencia. Con respeto. If you've ever thought, I need to be more intentional about who I trust at work, this conversation will feel familiar.☕ Where to Find the Corporate Cafecito Podcast
We couldn't imagine a more meaningful way to begin 2026.Our first guest of the year on Corporate Cafecito is Marie Quintana.Marie is a Cuban immigrant, CEO of Quintana Group, strategic advisor, executive coach, board director, and author. Long before ERGs, before representation became a strategy, she was building, leading, and opening doors in corporate America. From IBM to PepsiCo to serving as Chief Marketing Officer at Tenet Healthcare, her career spans decades of leadership, transformation, and impact. But this conversation isn't about titles. It's about her story.Marie shares a moment from first grade she calls “White Dress Day.” Picture day. A handmade white dress. Walking into a classroom and realizing she was different. That moment didn't break her. It became the foundation for resilience, courage, and leadership. We talk about living in two worlds. About vulnerability as strength. About faith, cultura, and what it truly means to bring your whole self to work. Marie is also the author of Last Flight from Havana, a powerful memoir about leaving Cuba, identity, resilience, and healing. Her book is an extension of this conversation and a reminder that our beginnings do not limit us. They shape us.If you've ever felt like you had to edit yourself to belong, this episode is for you.
We made it through 2025.That alone matters. As we step into 2026, this episode of Corporate Cafecito is about choosing how we move forward. Not rushing. Not reacting. Choosing with intention. This conversation is an honest look at what last year required from us and what it actually gave back. What truly moved you forward in 2025?What quietly drained your time, energy, or headspace? What are you no longer willing to carry into this year?We talk about taking a real audit of 2025 through return on investment. Time. Energy. Focus. We walk through Start, Stop, Continue as a way to move with clarity instead of obligation. We also talk about visibility with intention.Being seen by the right people. For the right reasons.Without shrinking who you are or hiding your cultura. This episode is rooted in lived experience.
Before we step into 2026, we wanted to pause and talk honestly about 2025. Not just what we survived, but what we learned, who showed up, and how our community kept moving forward even when things felt heavy. In this episode, we reflect on the realities of 2025 for our community and our workplaces. We talk about fear and resilience, DEI shifts, AI changing the job market, cultural guilt, and the pressure so many of us felt to stay quiet just to stay afloat. We also take time to lift up what mattered most. The teachings we shared throughout the year. The Latine-owned businesses and organizations we highlighted. The leaders, mentors, and community builders who reminded us that visibility, access, and community still matter. If you're looking for guidance, reflection, and real conversations rooted in experience, we invite you to explore the episodes, the stories, and the businesses we've highlighted along the way. This is an honest look at 2025. Lo bueno, lo difícil, y lo real.If you would like to join Nallely and Carlos from Corporate Cafecito for a Cafecito or suggest a topic for them to discuss, please visit www.corpcafecito.com/contact-us.Feel free to reach out via email:admin@corpcafecito.comUnlock Your Potential with Elevar Development - Whether you're growing your career, leading a team, or transforming your organization, Elevar helps you align your strengths, leadership, and vision for success.
