Im Song zum Podcast geht es um eine Person, die von der unsterblichen Liebe zu einem anderen Menschen singt. Egal welche Schwierigkeiten Du im Leben durchmachst, ich werde immer da sein, egal was passiert. Wenn Du das Gefühl hast, nicht weitermachen zu können, helfe ich Dir, weiterzumachen. Falls es Dir schwerfällt, einer Person, die Du liebst, zu sagen, was Du für sie empfindest, dann lass sie dieses Lied hören. Sade ist im Lied eine Partnerin, die da ist und da bleibt. Sie beschützt, sie bleibt, sie wärmt, sie tröstet und trocknet die Tränen. Leider werden solche Bilder von starken Frauen, die die Initiative ergreifen immer noch als etwas „Außergewöhnliches“ empfunden. Viele denken, starke Frauen kann es nach Gottes Willen nicht geben, denn der Mann wurde doch als erstes geschaffen – schauen wir einmal in die Bibel. Da stellen wir dann fest, dass der Song „By Your Side“ vieles von den biblischen Texten besser versteht als die meisten Übersetzungen, die immer noch stark von Luthers Fehlübersetzungen geprägt sind. By Your Side – jemand steht mir zur Seite, was Luther mit „Gehilfin“ übersetzt, ist in dieser Form falsch verstanden, besser könnte das hebräische „eser“ locker mit „jemand, die mir den Arsch rettet“, „eine Helferin, die mir entspricht“, übersetzt werden. Außerdem müsste „Zela“ besser mit „Seite“ übersetzt werden und zwar eine die gleich ist und nicht mit Rippe. Sounds From the Soul (Circa 2001) Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to dive off the deep end.  The Deep end of House music of course.  Deep, Soulful, Tribal, Jazzy, and all that good stuff house.  This mix was originally released in or around 2001, and after listening to it recently after a long time, I just needed to include it as the next podcast.  There are classics on here including: Sade (By Your Side), Kings of Tomorrow (Finally), Larry Heard, and others. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the smooth sounds of this podcast.  The recording made of this mix was not of the best quality, and for that I do apologize.  I hope the smooth, natural sounds stimulate your mind, body and soul. I may have already mentioned what a great flat Andie and I shared in Bethnal Green. With a large living space it was perfect for big parties, and we had a few. Best of the best were our New Year’s Eve extravaganzas. ‘2001: A Spaced Odyssey’ was the biggest headline event I can remember. Andie’s room was earth, floodlit in green, mine was Mars in red, the hallway was a docking station and the main room was space. Everyone dressed up: gay space cowboys, a whole crew of Star Trek ensigns, monsters, aliens, the lot. Clearing up the day after we filled a box with toy ray guns.As with all the best parties, it was a joint effort. Ted designed the invite artwork, Paul, Andrew and Cuneyt dressed the venue after raiding the Paperchase post-xmas sale, I was lights and music. When hosting at home I don’t enjoy DJing through the evening so used to pre-mix the music. This mix kicked in at midnight after Big Ben’s chimes. We start with a few commercial dance favourites from the time, before going into a wad of funky disco house anthems and old skool classics. Ii think I must have run out of time before the party because the last 20 minutes are from a Ministry Of Sound CD. Thanks also goes to Tim Stoller for lending me ‘Salsoul Nuggets’ - my fave track of that Christmas, only available as an instrumental white label at the time.Originally mixed across 4x minidiscs, the mix appears here for the first time as one continuous session. This is the soundtrack from midnight to 5am, at which point we switched to Strangeways Days Vol 2. It’s a big file so may take some time to dload.My fondest memory of the party was at about 8am on New Year’s Day. The sun was rising and a Spanish couple we’re dancing. I’d never met them before - friends of friends of friends - but they had just been reunited as he had been living in Spain. They twirled each other around and around gently, never losing eye contact.
