19:4 [“los he traído a mí”]; Deut.

TextRut 1:16MusikWalk – Ludovico Einaudi Producent Helena Andersson HolmqvistMoskit medialiv@sverigesradio.se
Send us a textThe view from a razorback ridge can change your life—and your training. We invited Robin Vieira Brower, one of the few American women racing the Skyrunner World Series, to unpack how she built a season across Austria and Ireland, what “sea to sky” truly demands, and why skyrunning needs a bigger footprint in the U.S. Robin shares a refreshingly candid path from college soccer to technical mountain running, the exact workouts that paid off on steep grades, and the mindset shift required when weather cancels races the day before the start. We dig into the nuts and bolts—heart rate based training, base-building through winter, and the intervals that translate directly to efficient climbing and controlled descending. Robin also opens up about running a creative studio while racing internationally, turning storytelling into a strength instead of a distraction. We compare skyrunning with Golden Trail and UTMB, talk through ISF standards that protect the sport's identity, and spotlight the best U.S. gateways for “real sky” skills: Cirque Series venues, The Rut, Alyeska, and the Wasatch. Expect practical insights on gear, travel, and course selection, plus honest talk about representation and how to support more women on technical terrain. If you've wondered how to break into skyrunning—or just want to understand why switchbacks are sometimes optional in Europe—this conversation delivers a clear map and plenty of motivation. Intro -Dave Welcome back to another episode of Let's Go Hunt, the hunting podcast brought to you by Marty McFly and the DeLorean. Tonight we have: Mike Goncalves, we have to go back Sam Alexander - here for your lunch money Vince H, chicken plucker And I'm Dave Packard, I have returned Around the Campfire Tonight: Head and Broads, in an order that might surprise you I want to talk about broadheads, again. This time crossbow broadheads, but also broadheads in general. It's a long word to type, “broadheads”. Lot's of letters in there. Let's call them bh for now. Crossbow BHs are ostensibly rated for higher speeds and force to deal with the speeeeeeeed the speeeeeeeeed. Lot's of nonsense on the internet about needing solid steel ferrules and not aluminum ones but that shit is in the bolt/arrow, not the broadhead. I suppose there's only one way to test this, which is to shoot some into a target and see what happens. Short story is I got an open box deal on bolts, and I want to marry those bolts to cheaper broadheads and continue the beaver harpooning. Could just toughen up and zero the .308 but the nice part about the crossbow is I can zero it right there next to the truck and get going without the additional time to get to the rifle range. Also because it's cool. Thoughts on going commie and trying out $2 CHYNA broadheads for live and laughing and funning. Then, Lincoln County hunter Donnie Baisden shares his remarkable story of tracking — and finally taking — a massive buck on newly purchased land. A true West Virginia hunting tale about patience, precision, and persistence in the woods
Send us a textA broken back, a fractured knee, and nearly a year off running—then podiums at Pikes Peak Ascent, Kodiak, and Moab. That's the arc Alicia Vargo takes us through, sharing how a brutal dog attack in 2024 unraveled her season and how skate skiing, patience, and stubborn belief stitched it back together. We start with her fresh Moab Trail Half podium and the course's split personality—slickrock step-ups, sandy slogs, and off-road pavement—before moving into the training mindset that keeps her sharp late in the year. From there, we head home to Breckenridge. Alicia talks altitude as the quiet performance lever, the surprising strength of the local community, and why winter skimo and skate skiing are the perfect mix to preserve fitness without the pounding. Then we go deep on her recovery: delayed diagnoses, crutches, months of uncertainty, and the tentative first races at Broken Arrow that proved her body could hold. She opens up about Sierre-Zinal's balcony trail, heat shock, and the crowded chaos of European starts where elbows fly and gels get trampled. We zoom out to the sport's big questions. Should women have separate starts or days? Alicia weighs the trade-offs—clear competition and spotlight versus thin fields and lost atmosphere. She revisits the early Nike Trail years, shifting to Hoka, and why the sport once nudged athletes toward ultras due to a lack of short trail opportunities. Now, with Golden Trail, Broken Arrow, and the Rut, short trail finally looks like the welcoming on-ramp for D1 talent and the most TV-ready version of mountain running. We also talk storytelling. What Coca-Dona got right with long-form livestreams. Why commentators who race—like Dani Moreno—can translate chaos into context. And why Alicia's skeptical about the Olympics reshaping trail into a TV-friendly shadow of itself, much like skimo's shift. Through it all, her message is grounded and energizing: protect the mountain identity, invest in women's race formats, tell better stories, and give athletes the room to come back strong. If this conversation hits, follow and share. Hubris, the Fatal Flaw A major theme throughout the hour is the fallout from the recent government shutdown, which lasted 40 days and ended with bipartisan Senate action. Clay and Buck dissect the political consequences, particularly the backlash against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. They explore Schumer’s declining popularity, citing polling data and commentary from CNN and David Axelrod, and speculate on the possibility of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez challenging him in 2028. The hosts also discuss the broader implications of internal Democratic Party tensions, including potential challenges to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Incredible Veterans Day Stories Clay and Buck hear stories from the audience about Veterans. David “Rut” Rutherford, Former Navy SEAL and host of The David Rutherford Show, calls in to share his thoughts on this particular Veterans Day, including the uptick in enlistment under President Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth.

The Midrash (Bereshit Rabba 42) tells the story of how Rabbi Eliezer ben Hyrcanus first began learning Torah. He had worked with his brothers in the farmlands owned by their father, Hyrcanus, until Eliezer ran away in order to learn Torah under the great Rabbinic leader of that generation, Rabbi Yohanan Ben Zakai. Sometime later, his father came to inform Eliezer that he was disowning him, and removing him from his will. But when his father arrived, he saw that Rabbi Yohanan was hosting a major feast for the Rabbis, with the wealthiest men of the generation in attendance. Of all the people assembled, Rabbi Yohanan selected Eliezer – now Rabbi Eliezer – to deliver a speech. Rabbi Eliezer's words dazzled everyone in the room – including his father, Hyrcanus, who approached him afterward. "I had come here to disown you and exclude you from my fortune," he said, "but I am instead giving you everything I own." What was this speech that so impressed Hyrcanus? The Midrash says that Rabbi Eliezer spoke about an event told by the Torah in Parashat Lech-Lecha – the war waged by the four kings against the five kings. During this war, the four kings captured the city of Sedom, and took its entire population as captives, including Lot, the nephew of Abraham Abinu. When Abraham heard that his nephew was taken, he immediately mobilized a small army and boldly launched an attack against the four kings. Miraculously, Abraham's little army triumphed, and rescued all the captives, including Lot. Rabbi Eliezer, in this first speech that he ever delivered, said that this war is alluded to in a verse in Tehillim (37:14): " The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow, to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those who walk uprightly. " These "wicked" people, Rabbi Eliezer explained, were the four kings, who were led by Amrafel, whom Rashi (Bereshit 14:1) identifies as Nimrod, the evil king who had thrown Abraham into a furnace to kill him for denying paganism. These kings came with their armies to wage war against "the poor and the needy" – referring to Lot, and to "slay those who walk uprightly" – referring to Abraham. However, their plan backfired, as the next verse says, " Their sword shall enter their heart" – they were defeated and killed by Abraham. What was so profound about this lecture? What great insight did Rabbi Eliezer here reveal, thus earning him his father's newfound admiration and praise? Rabbi Eliezer here taught that when other nations wage wars, they are invariably, in some way, targeting us, the Jewish People. When we read the Torah's account of this war, we get the impression that Abraham's involvement was purely incidental, the result of Lot happening to be living in Sedom, which fell to the four kings. In truth, however, as Rabbi Eliezer taught, the four kings were actually coming after Abraham and Lot. They targeted Abraham because of the monotheistic belief that he disseminated, and they targeted Lot because he was the ancestor of Rut – the great-grandmother of David – and Na'ama – the wife of King Shlomo, from whom the Davidic dynasty descended, culminating in Mashiah. This conflict outwardly seemed like a struggle between different kingdoms who had strategic alliances, but in truth, it was aimed at Abraham and Lot, seeking to destroy Am Yisrael even before its emergence, and to prevent the possibility of Mashiah's arrival to redeem the Jewish People. In the next passage, the Midrash comments that these four kings represent the four empires that would later persecute the Jewish Nation – Babylonia, Persia, Greece, and Edom (associated with Rome and the Christian world). The Midrash here teaches us that just as the war waged by the four kings was driven by hostility toward Abraham Abinu and toward the nation he was creating, the subsequent wars will similarly be motivated by this ancient hatred. We are thus assured that just as G-d miraculously assisted Abraham Abinu in overcoming his enemies, we, too, will prevail over our hostile adversaries. We need to confidently place our trust in the Almighty, in the "Magen Abraham" ("Shield of Abraham"), and ask Him to protect us and deliver us from our enemies just as He helped our ancestors throughout history.

Send us a textIn episode #158 we talk with runner and gravel cyclist Anna Gibson about:Her approach to fueling and hydration in training and racesHeat training and adaptationSupplement strategies and lab testing to determine biomarkersAnna Gibson was raised on the edge of Grand Teton National Park. What's now considered“training” began simply as time in the mountains with family and friends, doing what she loved. Originally aspiring to become a pro ski racer, Anna was a competitive runner and nordic ski racer in high school. Her ski racing career culminated with an individual title at the cross-country skiing Junior National Championships in 2017, but she went on to pursue running at the University of Washington, where she competed in the Pac-12 while earning her undergraduate degree and Masters. There she anchored her team's Distance Medley Relay to a new NCAA record, but she spent her summers trail racing, with a few notable performances. After a 4th place finish at her 1st Mountain Running World Cup in France, and wins in both the VK and 11k at The Rut, she put competing internationally in trail running on her radar. She still loves to explore on her bike, and spend winters skinning up mountains.

A dónde tú vayas, allí estaré ayudándote, ¡y juntas vamos a adorar a Dios!

Put the stalk on em, low, rolilng. Klecker's holster held up amazingly. Didn't think about wind till it was prob too late. Slept so bad. Got about three hours and when I noticed it was getting light, got up to set decoys. Just when I was starting to fret (20 mins in) first flock came in. Found a downside to the Advocate: it fogged. That's probably fixable with some anti fog spray. Regardless, the mount on the 1187 allows use of the bead sight. Transitioned to the bead and dropped a drake Just about 40 mins later, another flock of four flew over and came in. Dropped one, then another. Wanna talk about the bird behavior I witnessed. Holy shit they're pilots. Went on a bit of a row. Chased the buffleheads around but they're wise to me. Found some mergs and took one down. All I hear is how bad they taste. So what do I do? Make an omelet. Honestly, it was incredible. Like a damn good steak omelet. I will happily shoot mergs again. First time ever, ended up with 3 packages of excess duck meat.
