Matt Martin loves his Golden Perch, and it was great to get him on for a chat to hear his story, chasing yellas and also fishing Burrendong Dam. The start of the chat kicks off learning a little bit about Matt, his background in fishing and his travels to end up where he is today. He has chased Barra on the ABT circuit and loves fishing a range of competitions for Murray Cod and Yellowbelly. His local is Burrendong and we get into discussions about the key bite periods, the behaviour of the yellas throughout spring and the best way to chase them. Matt is a great fella, and this was a super casual chat. Enjoy our first episode on spring yellas for the season. For more info on access, key fishing spots and up to date reports on Burrendong Dam. In this episode I had a fantastic discussion with Taka Kawasaki from Daiwa Australia. Any of the regular listeners will recognise Taka as the winner of the non - boater division of the ABT Hawkesbury and Gladstone rounds. In Taka's role at Daiwa he takes care of hard-body lures and colours. So we thought with the recent releases at AFTA this would be a great time to run through all of the new Bream related lures and colours. We spoke at length about why some colours we added to different lures. Daiwa also uses some fascinating technology with their 'Adel' colour schemes. Taka explained how and why those colours were developed. The very popular 'DR Minnow ' has been re- released in jointed and non - jointed models. Although these lures are the same model, they have very specific uses. Taka explains the locations and techniques that these lures were designed for. After we cover all of the lures, Taka shares some information about the flourocarbon and braided lines that Daiwa has to offer. Taka has also initiated line recycling that all fishermen and women can participate in. We talk about exactly how it works and how everyone can get involved. We also have a promotion running where the winner will recieve a whole swag of new lures, but you will need to tune in to find out all about it! This promotion closes 31 August 2023 and the winner win be announced on Facebook September 1st and notified via Facebook messenger. The prize pack will not be available until all the lures are instock and available to retailers.

Ouça a conversa completa!

John MacKenzie chats with Kord Luckus, Qld Director of the Australian Fishing Trade Organisation, to get an update on the Spanish Mackerel issue after the government proposed a commercial fishing limit earlier in the year. The Queensland government claimed that the stock biomass levels are at 17% of their 1910 levels, and therefore considered a limit to be put in place. Commercial and recreational fishers across the state have banded together to understand if the science has become politicised, and to put pressure on local members of parliament.

Travel Agent Achievers - To Educate, Encourage and Empower Travel Professionals
Going out on your own as a travel business owner, just before the world shut down, was not something that could be predicted. Belle Goldie had worked in the industry for over 20years and had decided towards the end of 2019 that she wanted to make a change. To go out as a work from home Travel Agent. And what a change that was. From the hustle of an office to the quiet of a home environment. As COVID-19 hit Australian shores and the borders closed, Belle worked around the clock like all travel advisors to bring her clients home, repatriate them to their home ports and consolidate hundreds of credits and refunds for her clients, just like you! Not eligible for any government support, as she hadn't been in business long enough to ‘qualify' Belle was determined not to give up. Taking on a second job to help support the family and riding the roller coaster of emotions day in and out, working on the train for her travel business and travel clients whilst holding down a second job was not what she thought would happen to her dream. After a fall at work, shoulder reconstruction and being in hospital recovering, it gave Belle the opportunity to come back to her “Why” and she knew that Travel was her life. The travel bug hit as a 22 year old and having a supportive husband and family, her travel business was her heart. She knew she had to keep going. With family support, Belle poured everything into her travel business and joined “itravel” as a Franchisee - itravel Penrith. The doors opened, she was thrilled with the response and her clients rebooking travel and then the Omicron variant burst onto the scene. Once again, closures, uncertainty, illness swept the world and Belle was facing another hurdle. Determined and looking for answers, Belle started a Movement. (ATAG - Aussie Take Action Group for Travel Advisors as a Facebook Group.) What was to be and had to be cancelled due to the Omicron outbreak were a series of rallies. This however became bigger when a national day of action was confirmed - Tuesday 25th April 2022, whereby travel Advisors from around Australia met with local government offices and members of parliament to get their story across. With the support of AFTA, CLIA and CATO, the message is clear and travel advisors need support to help come through this time. Especially as there is currently 8 Billion Dollars worth of Travel Credits from Aussies, sitting with suppliers that the general public will need the professional support from Travel Advisors to utilise and navigate the ever changing travel landscape as we come through this time. To get involved or read up on what the Travel Industry bodies are also saying in Australia - check out www.travelagentachievers.com/Episode60

Get your boarding passes, check in and join us in the Lunch Money Business Lounge, as we take a look at Australia's travel industry from an insiders perspective. We are asking the industry hit hardest by the pandemic, what are their plans to get us back in the air - face to face with business colleagues in Australia and around the world? What government and banking measures are working, and how can they work better? What are the trends in the US and Europe that we might see in Australia? We were joined by a first class panel of travel industry thought leaders: Tom Manwaring (Chairman at AFTA), Julie Reid (Director Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti Sales at United Airlines), Barbara Whitten (Managing Director at Anywhere Travel) and Warren Lio (Strategic Account Manager at Serko). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vov1sukien/support
--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vov1sukien/support
