The ASX 200 gave back 55 points to 9026 (0.6%). US futures turned negative early and banks slid, the Big Bank Basket down to $308.21 (-1.0%). MQG also down 2.4% on concerns with private equity and fund managers. Financials generally were weaker across the board, REITs slumped too, GMG down 3.6% and VCX off 3.1% with industrials sliding. WES down 1.7%, REA off 1.8% with retail falling, JBH off 1.9% and LOV down 1.4%. Tech once again on the nose, WTC falling 5.2%, XRO down 2.9% and the All-Tech Index falling another 3.3%. In healthcare, CSL fell 3.8% on tariff news, and COH off 1.7%.In resources, BHP rose 1.3% as commodity stocks ran hard on falling USD. Lithium stocks picked up, PLS up 4.6% and MIN rising 5.0%. Ultimately, the Book of Revelation is about a problem that is only solved when God's people wake up, repent, and faithfully wait on the return of Jesus.One of the worst problems is the one you don't know you have.Even worse are the problems you can see but don't recognize.Ephesus: HistoryEphesus was an influential city in the Roman world: a major port city in Asia Minor—economically powerful, culturally diverse, and religiously pluralistic. Faithfulness required constant discernment.The city was defined by idol worship. The Temple of Artemis was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Converting to Christianity meant rejecting the city's spiritual identity and economic system (Acts 19).Though the church seemed to be doing well, there was a glaring problem that John addressed.What Did It Mean: Revelation 2:1–7Each letter follows the criticism sandwich: (Good)(Bad)(Good).Jesus gives this critique while walking among the lampstands—the churches that illuminate Christ to the world.They served well, worked hard, corrected the wicked, removed toxic leaders, suffered faithfully, and didn't grow weary. Ephesus was a hard-working church.Imagine hearing: "You're great—but you don't love me."The letters were written to specific churches, but meant for all churches.What Does It Mean?This passage is often preached as a call to return to passion, but Jesus doesn't critique their passion.Paul once said of them: "Your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people" (Eph. 1:15–16).The problem wasn't their works, but their why. They disconnected from the reason they exist.Returning to your first love is remembering why you do what you do: to love God and love others.When a church forgets its why, it doesn't stop working—it stops breathing.Our vision is Belong, Believe, Become, but Ephesus drifted into Believe, Become, Belong.When love is no longer the motivation, we build walls instead of bridges and become known for what we're against instead of Who we're for.How Do We Respond?1. Il s'agit d'un huis-clos avec deux personnages principaux : un frère et une soeur. Le roman explore le lien qui unit cette fratrie qui grandit avec un père violent. Et avec cette phrase, fil rouge du roman, que Claire, la soeur qui fuit cette vie, lance à son frère « si un jour tu veux arrêter tout ça …. Tu peux compter sur moi ».  Invitée : Marie-Hélène Lafon, professeure agrégée et autrice française née à Aurillac dans le département du Cantal auquel son oeuvre est en grande partie consacrée. Le hasard de la naissance m'a fait la grâce de me placer là, à cet endroit là du monde, à la fois infime et crucial. Við fórum aðeins með honum yfir ferilinn í dag og hann sagði okkur frá tónleikunum. Blekfjelagið er félag meistaranema í ritlist og árlega kemur út bók fyrir jólin sem heitir einfaldlega jólabókin. Þetta er í fjórtanda sinn sem jólabókin kemur út, sú fyrsta kom árið 2012 og þá máttu sögurnar einungis innihalda 100 orð auk titils. Á hverju ári fækkar orðunum um eitt og fyrir vikið mega sögurnar í ár einungis innihalda 87 orð. Í ár er þemað "Kyngja", og samanstendur bókin af örsögum og ljóðum eftir 17 höfunda. Undanfarin ár hafa þau komið í Mannlega þáttinn og lesið upp verkin sín og svo er einnig í ár. Við heyrðum fyrri hluta örsagnanna í dag og svo verður seinni hlutinn á dagskrá í þættinum á morgun. The Big Bank Basket rose to $272.70 (+1.8%). Other financials also did well, MQG bouncing 2.7% and insurers too better. QBE and SUN up over 1%. REITs bounced, GMG up 0.8% and VCX up 2.4% with healthcare too also doing well, CSL rallying 2.9% with SIG up 1.4%. Industrials better but not flying. Gold miners soared as brokers started to amend forecasts for metal prices higher as 2026 comes into view. NST up 2.9%, GMD up 7.6% and NEM rising 5.7%. BHP and RIO also strong on copper exposure, and uranium stocks gained ground. PDN up 4.8% and DYL rising 4.9%. Lithium stocks were a little depressed.In corporate news, former ANZ CEO is suing the bank for his lost $13.5m bonus. The ASX 200 dropped another 136 points to finish at 8417, bring total losses for November to 5% so far – placing it on track for the worst month since September 2022. Resources were pummelled, BHP fell 3.2% on Chinese ore embargoes with RIO off 3.2% and FMG tumbling 5.5%. Gold miners were also hit hard despite bullion holding up, NEM down 6.1% and EVN off 4.5%. Lithium stocks saw selling back in aggressively, LTR down 8.4% and PLS off 6.9%. Base metal stocks and rare earths in trouble too, ELV down 11.8% and ILU down 11.6%. Energy stocks also under pressure, WDS down  2.7% and STO falling 3.0%. Industrials were less affected, TCL down 1.4% and GMG off 3.6% with WES down 1.4% and retail falling after LOV down 13.8% on guidance and AX1 crashing 15.4% on similar negative guidance. Banks saw selling, CBA held firm, the other three off, the Big Bank Basket down to $265.65 (%). Other financial slid, HUB down 3.3% and NWL off 4.5%. Tech was mixed, WTC gained 2.4% on reaffirming guidance at the AGM. The All-Tech index falling 0.8%.In corporate news, MYX saw its shares halted after a big fall and the Treasurer knocking back the bid. KGN rose slightly on an update, REH better despite a 18% fall in EBIT.
