In this episode of Half Hour, we discuss the 2026 Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, now playing at Studio 54. Directed and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton and starring Luke Evans as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the production revisits the cult classic with a renewed focus on theatricality, audience interaction, and design. We take a deeper dive into how this revival balances its original counterculture roots with a contemporary Broadway framework. From the staging choices that make full use of Studio 54 to the evolving role of audience call-backs, we break down what's working, what feels different, and how the experience compares to both the original stage production and the film adaptation. We also discuss standout performances, including Evans' interpretation of Frank-N-Furter, and how the ensemble supports the show's tone. Along the way, we look at the show's cultural legacy, its continued relevance, and how this revival positions itself within today's Broadway landscape. If you've seen The Rocky Horror Show before or are considering this production, this episode offers a closer look at what to expect and why this revival is generating conversation. Party favours full of drugs, a hose-down rubber sex balcony, and Bianca Jagger on a real horse. It's often said that the brightest flames burn for the shortest time – and by god did Studio 54 burn bright. Under the helm of Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, 254 West 54th was the single coolest place on the planet – and set the blueprint for exclusive nightclubs to this day. Bowie, Warhol, the Jaggers, and every other celebrity you could think of felt lucky to set foot on its gigantic dance floor. But what comes up, must come down, and it only took three years for the greatest club on earth to come unstuck. This is the story of sex, drugs, and disco – the rise and fall of Studio 54.--Patreon - Ad-free & Bonus EpisodesYouTube - Full-length Video EpisodesTikTok / Instagram

On this episode of Drama Darling, Amy and Emily break down a heated Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episode set in Italy, where Dorit's blowup with Kyle and Erika turns the trip into a tense, unfun fight and ends with Dorit leaving the table. They discuss Dorit's defensiveness, “victim” pattern, chronic lateness, and how her stress over PK and their marriage may be fueling her anger toward Kyle, plus why Dorit's closest allies now seem to be newer cast members like Boz and Rachel. They highlight the group's unusual silence during the argument, Erika's sharper “old school” takedown, and the Studio 54 party fashion. They also touch on Dorit's book cover shoot, Kyle's past support during Puppy Gate, and upcoming storylines including Boz's proposal and pregnancy/adoption talk, then plug Patreon for more recaps.LUMI GUMMIES Lumi Gummies are available nationwide! Hour 3: Rickie Ricardo on Studio 54, Discos in the 70s and 80s & Yankees Thoughts. Yankees Outlook Heading Into Opening Day; The Netflix Situation.
Tu rigoles, Fuck Off ? Personne ne passera ça à la radio. Mais non, attend, il suffit de changer. Qu'est-ce qui pourrait bien fonctionner, aaah freak off, Ouais ça marche ! Mais ça ne veut rien dire. Non mais Freak out !

In this episode of Half Hour, we take a deeper dive into the 2025 Broadway production of Oedipus at Studio 54, directed by Robert Icke and starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville. We break down the plot and concept, looking at how the production reframes Sophocles' tragedy as an election-night political drama and what that does to the story's sense of inevitability and fate. The conversation covers the direction and translation, the use of contemporary political language, and how the staging shapes the tension of the evening. We discuss the scene work, highlight standout moments from Strong and Manville, and consider whether modernizing a classic in this way clarifies or complicates its themes. We also speculate on where this production might go after its New York run and what it suggests about the future of updating Greek tragedy for Broadway audiences. In the 1970s, Studio 54 stood as the ultimate temple of disco, decadence, and hedonism. Lifelong friends and business partners Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager curated a coveted guest list, deciding who slipped past the velvet rope into a celebrity-studded playground that attracted everyone from Cher to Truman Capote to Imelda Marcos. But while Steve and Ian were meticulous about crafting the perfect mix of the rich, famous and beautiful, they were far less disciplined with their finances. Skimming cash became routine – and a series of missteps eventually brought their seemingly neverending party crashing down.Be the first to know about Wondery's newest podcasts, curated recommendations, and more! In the fifth episode of Season Two of Soundscapes NYC, hosts Ryan Purcell and Kristie Soares sit down with the legendary DJ Nicky Siano. The history of dance music in 1970s New York is synonymous with the life and work of Siano. He was among the early attendees of David Mancuso's Loft dances, where he learned to organize parties and DJ for an audience. Siano transposed Mancuso's informal gatherings to a proper discotheque called The Gallery (1972-1977,) which he co-owned and DJed. At The Gallery, Siano pioneered techniques such as beatmatching, EQing, and using three turntables to fashion a proto-disco sound through his preferred selection of funky soul and R&B records, inspiring a host of celebrated figures like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles. The Gallery was a seminal 1970s nightclub that laid a blueprint for iconic New York clubs like the Paradise Garage and Studio 54. Siano is perhaps most well-known for DJing and being fired from Studio 54 for his unconventional methods. For Siano, music was more than pleasure. It was a source of empowerment, a refuge, and spiritual salve that has enabled him to persevere and thrive as a DJ in New York during the Seventies and beyond. In this conversation, Siano illustrates the power of music that animated his involvement as an activist in the Stonewall riots. As a DJ, Siano has maintained his belief in the capacity of music to bring people together, despite social differences, and as a healing force during the AIDs era. In this conversation, Siano traces his evolving romance with music, echoing his enduring salvo: Love is the Message. The title of this episode draws from a memoir that Nicky Siano is currently authoring, I, DJ: Stonewall to Studio 54. Learn more about your ad choices. Marcus and Corey What You Know 'Bout That trivia game for Thursday, August 7th, 2025.
In the late seventies, Studio 54 was the place to be for musicians and celebrities alike. John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and others all famously hung out at the notorious club where hedonism was part of the venue's allure. The success of Studio 54 was sudden and massive, resulting in mountains of cash, cocaine, jealousy, revenge, an FBI raid, and an ironic ending for one of its owners. Recently Matt joined Moira Donegan and Adrian Daub of the excellent In Bed with the Right podcast to record what turned out to be two episodes about Roy Cohn—the "lawyer, closet case and ratfucker extraordinaire," as they describe him. These days Cohn is perhaps most infamous for being Donald Trump's lawyer and mentor, but this first episode focuses on Cohn's childhood and family life, his decisive role in the Rosenberg trial (especially their execution), and his time working with Sen. Joe McCarthy at the height of the Red Scare. After you listen, please head over to In Bed with the Right to check out the second episode on Cohn and hear the rest of his story.Sources:Nicholas von Hoffman, Citizen Cohn: The Life and Times of Roy Cohn (1988)Christopher M. Note from Jeannine:Ooooh, Y'ALL. This is another banger. Louie Mandrapilias was a young gay man in Louisiana in the 70s...when it really wasn't okay to be a gay man anywhere, much less Louisiana. Checking out New York, or as Louie tells me "gay mecca," for two weeks the summer before his senior year of high school turns into a years long run as an international drug smuggler. Louie was diagnosed with HIV in 1983 before there was any treatment available. At that time, HIV was a death sentence. Louie chose to stay sober anyway. His story is wild and inspiring and I can't wait to hear what you think!Connect with Louie on InstagramBuy Louie's book: Flew Too HighDM me on InstagramMessage me on FacebookListen AD FREE, hear bonus episodes & workout with me on Patreon Laugh with me on TikTokEmail me chasingheroine@gmail.comSee you next week!
This week is the one and only original Supermodel, Janice Dickinson so hold on to your vintage Versace because we are taking you on a wild, unfiltered, and iconic ride with this legendary icon and and it's nothing short of fabulous chaos unleashed. From the second Janice struts into tour boutique, it's clear — this is not just any guest. She's the woman who *coined* the term “first supermodel,” and she's ready to tell it like it is. Get ready for an intimate, hilarious, and refreshingly honest conversation that spans decades of fashion, fame, and fierce moments. We deep dive into Janice's rise to superstardom — from discovering her destiny while flipping through fashion magazines on the floor of a Florida grocery store, to becoming the face that graced every iconic cover around the world. She spills on working with legends like Versace (yes, *Gianni*), Richard Avedon, and being part of the golden age of modeling when cameras had film and fashion had soul. But this isn't just about the glitz. Janice opens up about motherhood, being a glamorous grandma (yes, really!), and surviving breast cancer, pneumonia, and hepatitis C — all with raw vulnerability and her signature sass. Her love for her husband Rocky radiates as she shares what it means to find peace, healing, and joy after a lifetime in the spotlight. You'll also hear some juicy behind-the-scenes tea (while she's drinking her Armenian Coffee) on *America's Next Top Model*, her modeling agency reality show, and how Tyra Banks may have borrowed more than just her presence. Janice talks about reinventing herself as a singer (you'll be humming *“Get Me Out of This Dress”* all day), the tragedy of losing Gianni Versace, and the magic of working with the world's greatest designers — all while throwing in stories of fashion week, Botox threads, Studio 54, and Patrik's infamous BBL reveal. And if that wasn't enough? We get personal. From sex on golf courses to love at first sight in the Waldorf Towers, Patrik dishes on his own modeling days, and how we met, and the party scenes of New York in the ‘90s. Plus: coffee readings, Armenian coffee, and a surprise letter "G" that might just predict Janice's future. **Why You'll Love It:** It's wild, it's real, it's Janice Dickinson like you've never heard her before — unfiltered, hilarious, and deeply heartfelt and reminds us why legends never fade and why being undressed — emotionally, spiritually, and unapologetically — is always in fashion. We get ✨ *Undressed: Where fashion meets truth, and no topic is too fabulous to unwrap.* This is another Hurrdat Media Production. Bo DonaldsonTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Bo Donaldson. Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods had the number one song in America in June of 1974; with the timeless hit "Billy, Don't Be a Hero". They also had hits on the charts all throughout the 70's. In this episode, we chat about how he got into music, and how his band came to be. Bo shares great stories about his mom deciding that she was going to meet Dick Clark and get him to make her son's band famous.... and then she did it! We also discuss some of the band's early days, where they opened for The Osmonds for over 300 shows. I pry just a bit into Bo's personal life and try to get to the bottom of some of the rumors about him dating Valerie Bertinelli before Eddie Van Halen. Along the way, we chat about each of the charting hits for the band, other fun Dick Clark stories, some previous guests of this show, Bo's real age, and why on earth he likes Cincinnati's Skyline chili so darn much! Plus, he lets me play their number one hit, as well as a little-known television show theme song the band wrote at the request of Dick Clark. Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods are still playing occasional shows in and around Southern California, and they are even playing a show in Buffalo, Ny in July. Check BoDonaldsonAndTheHeywoods.com for everything about the band; including new music, and tour dates.
We are celebrating The Golden Girls and Disco! The masterful creative output of the 70s and 80s continues to inform and inspire! Diving deep to illuminate this point are coffee table book couple, Jim Colucci and Frank DeCaro. Jim's book, Golden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Look Behind The Lanai is packed with hundreds of exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes and never-before-revealed stories, more than two hundred rare photos, Golden Girls sets, fashion, memorable quotes and more.Jim tells us about The Rule of Four, led by Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and Sophia that's become a sitcom template. He shares the secret formula to Golden Girls' success. Great writing x phenomenal performances. We address what fueled the Betty/Bea personality clash, and we learn how Maude, Soap and a skit promoting NBC's new 1984 programming sparked the conception of a show about women of a certain age that changed friendships, social norms, and how we view cheesecake, forever.Frank's book, Disco: Music, Movies, and Mania under the Mirror Ball, is a comprehensive guide to the queer, club music that became a dance sensation, a fashion craze and a mainstream lifestyle. Gay men and black women created the driving rhythms of Disco music and dancing, but white men, like the Bee Gees and Travolta, carried it on a shimmering wave through middle America. Studio 54's denizens were draped in skimpy haute couture while the masses were obsessed with themed merchandise, examples of which have become iconic pieces of modern kitsch. We also hear about Frank and Jim's meet-cute, Jim's first journalism assignment at a mobbed (never pardon our puns) Soprano's casting call, and the conversation doesn't end until it reaches its logical conclusion: the Nancy Walker factor. In recommendations --Weezy: The movie Dreamin' Wild on HuluFritz: The documentary, Ladies And Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music on PeacockPath Points of Interest:Jim ColucciGolden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Look Behind The LanaiJim Colucci Amazon Author PageJim Colucci on InstagramFrank DeCaroFrank Decaro on WikiFrank Decaro Show Facebook GroupFrank Decaro on InstagramDisco: Music, Movies, and Mania under the Mirror BallFrank Decaro Amazon Author PageDreamin' Wild - HuluLadies And Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music - Peacock
Studio 54 was a nightclub, but really much more than that. It became a symbol of the times as much as anything else in the 1970s. Strap on your platform heels and get down.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
