Almost two years ago, we spoke with Seth McCoy, who is well known on Social Media as The 6ix Shooter!! That episode (which can be found here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2SOWTy6h33pyzoekKEFPiH?si=18e67f983a564498) was a great way to learn about who Seth is and his backstory! Today, we are circling back and getting a follow up from that interview because SO MUCH has transpired since that time! I mean, we're talking about his world record attempt, which was the summer of 2023 where he attempted to break the world record for the most three point attempts made in a 24 hour span of time. Turns out, it's actually pretty tough on the body to attempt such a feat. And we'll hear about it from the man himself, and learn whether or not he plans to attempt it again! Seth has competed in professional basketball for the TBL with the Owensboro Thoroughbreds, he's competed in a 3 point competition which included a 6-figure cash prize, he's gone to All-Star Weekend in the NBA and was able to compete in a 3-Point Competition which he was able to win, and much more! In the meantime, he's continued to do his live streams on TikTok where as of THIS point he's been able to hit 100 three pointers in a row, 56 different times!! (At the time of this recording he was at 55, but less than 2 weeks later he hit his 56th time) The guy can shoot the ball! He knows what it takes to be consistent and he's showing that to the world. Has he almost 'normalized' hitting 100 threes in a row though? What does he need to do in order to get more recognition? It's almost as if people 'expect' that of him now, without realizing JUST HOW HARD that is to hit 100 threes in a row. Today we get to chat with him and catch up. And I truly hope you all enjoy the conversation with Seth! And I am going to tell you this, MAKE SURE, you hit him with that follow on all of his social platforms: Follow The 6ix Shooter: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@the6ixshooter Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the6ixshooter_/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@The6ixShooter Website: https://www.6ixshooteracademy.com/order-613924491707496304556 Also, there's an App in the App Store that has his shooting programs if you're looking for some awesome workouts and looking to improve your shooting. This is the second part of my final episode of Black History Month 2022, continuing the exploration of the legacies of more than two dozen mostly underrecorded African American artists. Each piece of this aural mosaic fills in gaps in the recorded history of these artists. After opening memorial tributes to Josephine Veasey, Antonietta Stella, and Betty Davis, the episode is broken into several sections: first, recordings of Baroque music by Aubrey Pankey, Carmen Balthrop, Adele Addison, Betty Allen, Seth McCoy, Marvin Hayes, and a rare live recording by Marian Anderson, whose 125th birthday was observed this past week. There follow recordings of concert repertoire sung by Dorothy Maynor, Louise Parker, and Grace de la Cruz, with William Pearson and Julius Eastman leading us briefly into the bizarre world of the extended vocal techniques of the 1960s. There follow recorded performances of art song by Helen Colbert, Rhea Jackson, John Riley, Clamma Dale, Ellabelle Davis, Marvis Martin, and Cynthia Haymon, whereupon the episode concludes with some rare performances of operatic repertoire with Gwendolyn Killebrew, Claudia Lindsey, Dagmar Průšová, and Gwendolyn Walters, capped by an exquisite a cappella performance of “A City Called Heaven” by the great Mattiwilda Dobbs. Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and journalist yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing. By clicking on the following link (https://linktr.ee/CountermelodyPodcast) you can find the dedicated Countermelody website which contains additional content including artist photos and episode setlists. The link will also take you to Countermelody's Patreon page, where you can pledge your monthly support at whatever level you can afford. Bonus episodes available exclusively to Patreon supporters are currently available and further bonus content including interviews and livestreams is planned for the upcoming season.

In this next installment of our Mixtape series, Seth McCoy explores the richness of the early church as described in Acts 2:42-47. The beauty of the early church is evident as we look at this passage and explore the spirit of this church and how that could affect the spirit of the church today. We also look at the myths of this early church as often perceived or romanticized today and breakdown any misconceptions that might get in the way of living out what God has for His church today.

Seth McCoy begins our Twisted Scripture series by discussing the topic of prayer by focusing on Matthew 7:7-11. This passage has a tendency to be misrepresented by our own cultural contexts that can distort the language of this passage into an individualistic prosperity gospel. It was argued that the ultimate goal of prayer is to ask, seek and knock in order to find the beauty of a life lived in submission to God and for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God.
