About the Show:We spoke with the folks at Adventure Subaru in Fayetteville. Danielle Dotson, Marketing Manager, Kelley Carey, HR Manager, Brent Baker, GM, and Managing Partner. They gave us an inside view of the super successful dealership that has tapped into the outdoor enthusiast here in Northwest Arkansas. Adventure Subaru was the last piece of an automotive dealership collection owned by Don Nelms. Don is a bit of a legend in Northwest Arkansas, establishing the “Service in the Nelms tradition,” where Adventure Subaru carries this mantle by focusing on taking care of the customer first and always doing the right thing. This method is a refreshing approach to auto sales and service where you don't feel “sold to” but rather taken care of. Brent shared his journey from Austin to partnering up with Don and why he is so excited about Northwest Arkansas and the future of car sales, new electronic vehicle models from Subaru, and why in 2022 Adventure Subaru won the Subaru Love Promise Retailer of the Year. Finally, we discussed Adventures Subaru's mission to give back to the local community as much as possible. So it would be no surprise that Adventure Subaru has given back more than 3+ Million dollars to the Northwest Arkansas community for programs like Second Hand Smoke and Nate Walls, Single Parent Scholarship Fund, The Roots Festival, and so many more. It is one of the reasons why you see the Adventure Subaru name tied to so many great causes and events. While they do not sponsor this podcast, we encourage you to check them out if you need a new or used car. About the Show:                          This week we sit down with Anthony Sumlin. Anthony is one of the first friends that our host Randy made in Northwest Arkansas when he moved here back in 2014. They both attend https://www.newlifechurch.tv/campus/fayetteville (New Life Church in Fayetteville). Anthony works at Sam's Club and is quite involved in the NWA Community. His involvement with https://www.sonamusic.org/ (SoNA) and the https://www.nwahomepage.com/single-parent-scholarship-fund-of-northwest-arkansas/ (Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA) is an example of how relationships can lead to many opportunities. Anthony has introduced the I am Northwest Arkansas podcast to many of his friends and several organizations that have been guests on the podcast.   Since Anthony had been instrumental in helping us tell a lot of stories about what makes NWA such a great place to live, we would turn the tables on him and have him on the show to tell his story.  And, it's an interesting one for sure. About the Show:   On this episode of the podcast, we sit down with Tyler Clark, Executive Director of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA (SPSFNWA). We wanted to learn more about the philanthropic underpinnings of Northwest Arkansas.  Tyler was just the person to give us a history lesson. He spoke about the impact that Harvey and Bernice Jones from the Jones Truck Lines had on him and why their generosity and support encouraged him to get involved in philanthropic efforts wherever he went. Tyler mentioned that SPSFNWA ran for 15 years without staff but as the need to help single parents educate their children grew, his organization grew right with them.  Now equipped with a very talented team of dedicated individuals Tyler has been able to impact Single Parent Families in Northwest Arkansas positively.  One of the primary goals of the organization is to move single parents and their families out of poverty and into prosperity.  The numbers for the organization are impressive: They have given away over 6.5 Million dollars to over 9,500 families in NWA.   They have 27 to 30 graduates per year. 85% of participants complete the program. The average GPA of participants is a 3.30 Finally, the statistic that stands out is the fact that the average family that goes through the program realizes a jump in income from $15K per year to $35K per year.   That is awesome!
