Growing up in Northern California, Jacob Rosenberg developed his passion for video and film as a skateboarder in the early 1990s, making acclaimed videos for Plan B Skateboards under the mentorship of the late founder Mike Ternasky. Upon his graduation from Emerson College, Rosenberg began his professional career directing music videos, short films, and commercials where he has directed and produced talent names such as LeBron James, Quincy Jones, Snoop Dogg, and Latto. Rosenberg served for a decade as a partner at the independent studio Bandito Brothers, spearheading forward-thinking digital workflows as their CTO and in-house director. He contributed expertise to productions such as Avatar and Act of Valor as well as numerous documentaries including Shine A Light and S.O.P.. In 2012, Rosenberg's directorial debut, Waiting for Lightning, premiered at SXSW, going on to be released by Samuel Goldwyn Films. The documentary feature painted an intimate portrait of childhood friend and skateboard legend Danny Way, who in 2005 attempted to jump the Great Wall of China on a skateboard. With a penchant for telling deeply human stories, Rosenberg's documentaries range on subjects from land speed racing to skateboarding, photography, technology, and the world of magician Franco Pascali. His award-winning broadcast work has included campaigns for Ford, INFINITI, HUMMER, NBA, MLB, Royal Caribbean, Burger King, Beats, Advil, Intel, and countless others. Rosenberg's latest works include co-curating a first-of-its-kind museum exhibit on the emergence of skateboard videos in the 1990s at The Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, as well as his first photo book RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES, documenting a decade of Bay Area hip-hop and skate culture. The book focuses on Jacob's story, coming up as a filmmaker for Plan B and then a photographer for the rap collective Hieroglyphics—which culminated in filming, editing, and directing their first group music video “You Never Knew” in 1998. Singer songwriter Eric Hirshberg's path is anything but typical. He's a former CEO of Activision and Deutsch LA, where he led record-breaking launches for major franchises like Call of Duty and was named one of the 50 Most Creative People in Business by AdAge. Yet throughout his remarkable career, Eric has always remained deeply connected to music. His songs have been featured in major outlets like People Magazine, American Songwriter, and Relix, and his collaboration with Aloe Blacc on "I Love Not Drinking" earned a Grammy nomination this year. 'Second Hand Smoke' his new album (released Sept 13 2024) is a deeply personal and refreshingly unique album that explores themes rarely addressed in mainstream music, like sobriety, aging, meditation, and the complexities of modern relationships. It's filled with a rich blend of introspective lyrics, an Americana-tinged sound, and a mature perspective-songs that dig deep into universal truths while resonating with life experiences. The album's success is a testament to Eric's unique voice and perspective, making it a project well worth checking out! https://www.instagram.com/erichirshberg https://www.youtube.com/@erichirshbergmusic https://www.erichirshbergmusic.com on Spotify @erichirshbergmusic Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris is sponsored by Shure Microphones, Kathy Ireland, ZOOM Audio. In this episode of the Dr Journal Club podcast, we reveal the alarming statistic that one in five children are still exposed to secondhand smoke despite declining smoking rates. We dive into the differences between mainstream and sidestream smoke, explore vaping's unique mechanisms that retain 99% of nicotine, and analyze a study on nicotine absorption in children. We also discuss the reliability of observational studies on smoking and vaping habits, highlighting the biases that can affect results, such as social desirability bias. Measuring genuine exposure levels, especially when parents smoke indoors, presents complex challenges that we scrutinize in depth.Join us for critical insights and ethical considerations on this pressing issue. In the cozy corners of our homes, where wagging tails and loyal companionship abound, secondhand smoke lingers as an unseen threat to our faithful canine friends. As some puff away on cigarettes and exhale plumes of toxic fumes, the innocent noses of our older dogs are unknowingly subjected to a barrage of harmful chemicals. The alarming reality is that while we may be aware of the dangers posed by secondhand smoke to human health, the risks it poses for our aging furry companions often go unnoticed.Imagine this: your beloved senior dog snuggled at your feet as you relax with a cigarette in hand. While you may find solace in their company, each breath they take in this shared space is tainted with harmful carcinogens and toxins present in secondhand smoke. This seemingly innocuous act could have far-reaching consequences on their health and well-being.Support the Show. You can find Woody's Place Senior German Shepherd Sanctuary online at:www.wpsgss.orghttps://www.facebook.com/woodysplacesgsshttps://www.instagram.com/wpsgss/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Tb1hKnOWEamQstkqAxEygWe would LOVE it if you could leave a thumbs-up or comment! When Jesus tells His disciples that they're not of this world, He never told them not to be in this world. We're on this earth for a reason, and we can't run away from the sin and struggles that exist because of the broken nature of humanity. It's important, though, that we allow ourselves to be filled with God and His Holy Spirit before we walk out the door every day. When we do that, we're less affected by the world, and better able to affect the world with the eternal hope of the Gospel.
We cannot run away from the sin and struggles of this world but we can go in and not be affected because what we have to offer is better than anything else in the world. We must be filled with God first before we can overflow Him with others. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/640/29

He has earned awards for innovations in advertising during his years as leader of world-renowned ad agency Deutsch LA, and in his work overseeing development and marketing at video game giant Activision (the maker of Call of Duty and Guitar Hero). The connection between tobacco smoke, cancer and heart disease has been well established since the 1800's, with irrefutable medical evidence presented since the 1950s. There is no question that smoking has significant public health impacts. The effects of second hand smoke were examined in various studies and also claimed negative effects. But these reports has some significant limitations, and larger studies later showed no significant risk. One of the authors, cancer epidemiologist Dr. Geoffrey Kabat, recounts the publication, the fallout, the lack of defense from the scientific community, and later independent reports that would reinforce their findings of no association with lung cancer and heart disease. While predating social media, the findings that did not fit a public health narrative where harshly criticized, using arguments that failed to address the evidence. This example is a precursor to understanding the modern-day discussions about issues like vaccination, COVID19, glyphosate, and other topics where the evidence is strong, but public opinion often fails to accept it. Dr. Kabat's accompanying article on Quillette.
Perceptions of Safety of Daily Cannabis vs Tobacco Smoking and Secondhand Smoke Exposure, 2017-2021 JAMA Network Open This study investigated perceived safety of cannabis vs. tobacco from 2017-2021 via daily smoking or secondhand exposure. The study found a significant shift in beliefs about the safety of daily smoking of cannabis vs. tobacco, with more than one-third reporting cannabis was safer than tobacco, and these numbers increased over time. Results were similar regarding secondhand cannabis smoke, with over 40% reporting it safer than secondhand tobacco smoke. Younger people and those who were unmarried were more likely to view cannabis as safer. A public health and regulatory response is therefore imperative to inform people of the known health risks associated with both daily cannabis smoking as well as secondhand exposure. About the Show:We spoke with the folks at Adventure Subaru in Fayetteville. Danielle Dotson, Marketing Manager, Kelley Carey, HR Manager, Brent Baker, GM, and Managing Partner. They gave us an inside view of the super successful dealership that has tapped into the outdoor enthusiast here in Northwest Arkansas. Adventure Subaru was the last piece of an automotive dealership collection owned by Don Nelms. Don is a bit of a legend in Northwest Arkansas, establishing the “Service in the Nelms tradition,” where Adventure Subaru carries this mantle by focusing on taking care of the customer first and always doing the right thing. This method is a refreshing approach to auto sales and service where you don't feel “sold to” but rather taken care of. Brent shared his journey from Austin to partnering up with Don and why he is so excited about Northwest Arkansas and the future of car sales, new electronic vehicle models from Subaru, and why in 2022 Adventure Subaru won the Subaru Love Promise Retailer of the Year. Finally, we discussed Adventures Subaru's mission to give back to the local community as much as possible. So it would be no surprise that Adventure Subaru has given back more than 3+ Million dollars to the Northwest Arkansas community for programs like Second Hand Smoke and Nate Walls, Single Parent Scholarship Fund, The Roots Festival, and so many more. It is one of the reasons why you see the Adventure Subaru name tied to so many great causes and events. While they do not sponsor this podcast, we encourage you to check them out if you need a new or used car. Subarus have one of the highest reliability factors in the auto industry, and most models are ideally suited for the topography here in the Ozarks.
