Wake up and roll into your Thursday with Joel & Mama Mish, along with sassy Liam for JOY Breakfast – a funny, cheeky, and delightfully unpredictable morning show that mixes news, nostalgia, and nonsense with a lot of laughs. This week it’s all about celebrating the magic of JOY’s Radiothon with plenty of laughs, chaos and community spirit! The fabulous Adz joins the team and bravely shares audio from his unforgettable back, sack and crack wax experience – because apparently nothing says Radiothon quite like a little pain for entertainment! In the second hour, the team is joined by the wonderful LGBTQIA+ Commissioner Joe Ball for an inspiring chat about community, visibility and inclusion, before welcoming extra-special guest Dom the Truck Driver, who quickly becomes part of the family. Then it all comes down to the ultimate showdown in Closest to the Pin: Dom teams up with Mama Mish, while Commissioner Joe Ball backs Joel. But does Joel’s winning streak continue, or is this the week the crown finally slips? The post (57). Yousef shares a collection of stories, poetry and music of resistance, including the story of Palestinian prisoner Abdul Karim and poems by Najib Al-Rayyes, Mahmoud Darwish and Tawfiq Ziad, many of which are connected to the television drama show, With My Own Eyes. Abdul Karim is a Palestinian who was imprisoned for 25 years by the Israeli Occupation Forces and engaged in biopolitical resistance during his imprisonment. He was recently released and able to rejoin his family. Najib Al-Rayyes was a Syrian lawyer who peacefully resisted the French colonisation of Syria and was imprisoned for it. There, he wrote the poem, The Darkness of Prison, which later became a freedom chant across Arab countries resisting colonialism in the first half of the 20th century. After the Nakba, it became the anthem of the Palestinian prisoner movement and was later turned into a song, which was remade for With My Own Eyes. Yousef also presents the poems Earth Poem by Mahmoud Darwish and Here We Shall Stay by Tawfiq Ziad, as well as music from Palestinian band Al-Shiqin, and Tarab Ensemble, in collaboration with the Victorian Trade Union Choir.Thank you again to everyone who donated during Radiothon 2026! Nevena, Macca and Paul are joined live on air by Josh Cox, an Olive Albino Python and a Barking Owl. Josh's philosophy is simple. ‘As a a society we are disconnected from nature. The advent of technology has changed the way we live, it has changed the way we interact, and it has jammed a wedge between us and nature'. ‘Children, from the time they are born, are now inundated with technology. It has gone well beyond the 30 minutes of watching Playschool that was the norm a generation ago. As we've become increasingly disconnected from our world and nature, the state of the planet has declined at quite a rapid rate. The threat of climate change is at our door. We are on the precipice of a mass extinction. If as a society we are disconnected from nature, we are not going to have the impetus to want to protect the planet'. Josh goes on to say, ‘I started Reptile Encounters because I want to give students the chance to connect with nature. I believe that people need to have that ‘inspire' moment to be able to make the connection for themselves. By meeting animals in the flesh we engender a respect for our environment and equip students to make a difference!' Open to the public by appointment ONLY! Reptile Encounters was founded in 2007 and is now in its 17th year of operation. Founder Josh Cox has had a lifelong love of Australian wildlife and was keen to have his own business and share his passion with the public. Initially, Reptile Encounters began with Josh as the sole presenter of reptile shows and a small collection of animals. He operated from home, and the majority of his business was weekend birthday parties. However it wasn't long before schools began enquiring and the focus of the business has gradually shifted. Josh quit his pharmaceutical sales job in 2009 to run Reptile Encounters full time and is now offering reptile parties for kids, corporate events & team building activities.
