We kick off 2018 making up for lost time as a whole plethora of Festive Fixtures have come and gone. Did Zaha dive? Did Chambers or Yoshida hand ball? How long does Mark Hughes have? Are Swansea going to be safe? Is Bobby Madley amazing? These are just a few questions that we try to answer in this edition of World Football Talk. We are also testing out some new equipment. We are still getting adjusted to our new mic stands so we are still trying to find the perfect placement and mixing for our audio. Thomas knows he is too "off-mic." Thomas will fix. Have a great New Year! Leave us a rating on iTunes and connect with us @WFT_Podcast on Twitter for more from Thomas and Ryan. Big shout out to The Understatement for letting us use their song "Apothecary" for our intro and outro. Be sure to check them out on Bandcamp (theunderstatementnj.bandcamp.com/track/apothecary), YouTube (www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEaEwscwbHE) and SoundCloud (User-217504843 – The-understatement-apothecary).
A festive episode of World Football Talk sees Ryan and Thomas reminisce on either a horrible Festivus or a fantastic Festivus, depending on which of us you ask. El Clasico saw some optional defending by Real Madrid's full backs, Arsenal-Liverpool some optional defending and goalkeeping, while Manchester United's games led to some optional goals and acceptable results. Overall, a Festivus to forget for Thomas. Boxing Day can only get better, right? RIGHT? We start off with our recap of the most recent Premier League fixtures, including who we think could still be going down (we recorded before Paul Clement was sacked, making him the third manager we've jinxed). We then move on to the hotly contested social media post that Antoine Griezmann put on social media showing him dressing up as a Harlem Globetrotter to an 80's party. Definitely could've been handled better with about 100% less full-body black paint. With El Clasico fast approaching, we look back on the last edition of this fixture and the soul-lifting and soul-crushing (depending which one of us is talking) nature of Messi's goal. Leave us a rating on iTunes and connect with us @WFT_Podcast on Twitter for more from Thomas and Ryan. Big shout out to The Understatement for letting us use their song "Apothecary" for our intro and outro. We go back to basics this week as we talk about the two biggest games of the weekend: the Merseyside Derby and Manchester Derby. Both saw some highly controversial moments, especially in the tunnel. We also take a look at the Champions League Round of 16 and Europa League Round of 32 Draws that took place on Monday. There most certainly is a Ryan Linder Derby, but Milan drew complicated opponents. Then again, Milan is just complicated in general. As promised, here is the delightful graphic Daily Mail came up with: https://i.redd.it/9zettqq1jd301.jpg Leave us a rating on iTunes and connect with us @WFT_Podcast on Twitter for more from Thomas and Ryan. We are back as the Champions League and Europa League Group Stage has now completed and the advancing teams have been determined. How do we assess the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich? Who does Ryan want Chelsea to draw considering they have incredibly limited options. Is Milan really as screwed as Thomas thinks? Find out in a brand new episode of World Football Talk. Leave us a rating on iTunes and connect with us @WFT_Podcast on Twitter for more from Thomas and Ryan. It was very much a build-up week in the Premier League as fixtures such as United vs Arsenal prepared us for Derby Sunday. Paul Pogba received a bit of karma with his sending off. Manchester City also decided to become the biggest teases in England after looking like they would drop points twice to Southampton and West Ham. We also look into the progress of Chelsea and Tottenham. Mark Clattenburg had something to say about the game between the two a couple of seasons ago, and Thomas is pretty heated about it. Oh and Milan capitulating against Benevento. La Liga, ESPNFC 100 and a special announcement about the podcast all await inside as it is another episode of World Football Talk. Be on the lookout for our Champions League Group Stage roundup as we look at how our predictions stacked up, as well as potential Round of 16 clashes going forward. The 2018 World Cup Draw has come and gone and we are back thanks to the power of Discord to give our take on how the draw panned out and also give our way-too-early predictions on the 2018 World Cup.
