That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don't you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” - Mark 4:35-41 Jesus was in a storm yet some us of couldn't bear but he was at PERFECT PEACE, because he spoke earlier “Let us go over to the other side" inferring that if he spoke it, we believe it. This fourth episode for Lent 2025 focuses on Cultivating Peace. Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, not simply people who feel peaceful. To be a peacemaker means to enter into situations where there is conflict--and as Scott shares in this episode, sometimes being a peacemaker means bringing peace to a conflict that we have caused. A guided meditation is also offered during the last 3 minutes of this episode. If you don't have a booklet, sign up to receive the daily emails for Lent from Living Compass at www.livingcompass.org/lent-signup. An archive of the daily readings can be found at https://www.livingcompass.org/living-well-through-lent-2025-readings.
Join as we talk about the peace of God that surpasses all understanding! (Also note our husbands are watching a movie SO LOUD in the background).

Welcome, Warriors! Today, we're uncovering the transformative power of peace as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22 reminds us that peace is a direct result of walking in the Spirit. This peace goes beyond human understanding, grounding us in God's presence and calming our hearts and minds. Let's explore how yielding to the Spirit's work in our lives allows us to experience and sustain peace in all circumstances. Our Springboard for Today's Discussion Is:Galatians 5:22 - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness."This verse highlights the Spirit's role in producing peace within us, transforming our inner lives and enabling us to reflect God's character. The Holy Spirit is the source of true peace, transforming our hearts and minds to align with God's will. This peace is not dependent on external circumstances but is rooted in the deep assurance of God's love, control, and faithfulness.Walking in the Spirit means living in step with God's guidance, surrendering our anxieties, and trusting Him fully. As we do this, the Spirit fills us with a peace that guards our hearts and minds, even in challenging situations. This peace is not passive but active, equipping us to navigate life with confidence and clarity.Sustaining this peace requires intentional effort to yield to the Spirit's work. It's about choosing to trust God over fear, responding to His promptings, and meditating on His promises. By doing so, we allow His peace to permeate every area of our lives, bringing transformation and stability.Steps That You Can Take* Yield to the Spirit in PrayerBegin your day by surrendering your concerns to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to fill your heart with peace and guide your steps throughout the day.* Meditate on God's PromisesReflect on scriptures like Galatians 5:22 that emphasize the Spirit's work in producing peace. Let these truths anchor you when anxiety arises.* Choose Peace Over FearIn moments of uncertainty, intentionally choose to trust God's sovereignty. Remind yourself that the Spirit within you is greater than any challenge you face.ConclusionThe peace that comes from the Holy Spirit is a powerful, life-transforming gift. It equips us to navigate every circumstance with confidence and grace, reflecting God's presence to the world. By walking in the Spirit, we can experience this peace daily and share it with those around us.Question of the DayHow can you yield more fully to the Holy Spirit to experience His peace in your daily life?Growth ChallengeThis week, dedicate time each day to reflect on the fruit of peace in Galatians 5:22. Identify one area in your life where you can surrender more fully to the Spirit's work and trust God's peace to guide you.Let's PrayHeavenly Father,Thank You for the peace that only Your Spirit can bring. Teach us to walk in step with the Spirit, surrendering our fears and trusting in Your promises. Let Your peace transform our hearts and minds, equipping us to face each day with confidence. In Jesus' name, Amen. The Spirit's peace is transformative, Warriors. Yield to it, walk in it, and let it guide your life. Let's Get To Work! This is a public episode. Ever find yourself longing for peace amidst the chaos of daily life? Our latest episode takes you on a journey through the true meaning of peace—revealing it as something deeper than the absence of trouble, but rather an unshakeable trust in the divine. We're also thrilled to announce our first in-person conference at the picturesque Sandy Cove, Maryland for the Ruach Journey study alumni, and a special preparatory seminar in Memphis, connecting you to spiritual insights that will anchor your soul.Strap in as we share intimate stories of wrestling our own anxieties into Jesus' hands, discovering the transformative practice of replacing worry with worship. We delve into scriptural wisdom, uncovering the art of balancing life's demands with the peace that surpasses understanding. You'll walk away with practical tools, such as the 'for Jesus to do' box, to help navigate the tides of life while holding firm to Jesus' promise of peace. Finally, we navigate the often-treacherous waters of conflict, offering a fresh perspective on finding harmony in relationships and within ourselves. We discuss the role of vulnerability and mediation in achieving true peace and understanding. With a focus on the profound peace Jesus offers, our conversation becomes a blessing, a reminder that peace isn't just a feeling—it's the presence of Christ within us, guiding our every step towards a life of tranquility, harmony, and love.
We typically think of peace as fruit of the Spirit as "peace of mind." But most often Scripture speaks of peace as unity among believers.
