Joy is something that can grow out, it's contagious among people. It's hard to really lean into and experience that joy sometimes in this fallen world we live in. Messages from Merge Community Church in Azle, Tx.
It seems that the older we get, the less joy we have. We experience more pain and pressure. Our emotions become more complex. This is natural. However, in the Kingdom of God, it's different - the more mature we become in Christ, the more joy we will have. This is because Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. To allow the Holy Spirit to produce this fruit in our life, we need to obey our way to joy.

This Sunday, we continue our series on the Fruit fo the Spirit by exploring the gift of joy. Using the powerful story of David bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6), we'll discover that true joy is found not in our circumstances, but in the presence of God. Passage: 2 Samuel 6: 12-23

How much is joy a feature of your life as a Christian? While he recognizes that the fruit of the Spirit is one cluster, nevertheless Spurgeon wants us to focus in this sermon on joy as part of the believer's spiritual experience. Some have a melancholy disposition which needs to be overcome; others seem to be committed to gloom as a religious essential. Spurgeon would have us understand that joy is a legitimate and inevitable element of the fruit of the Spirit (though varied in the experience of different believers), and also wants us to grasp the singular character of this joy as well as the various forms and circumstances in which a Christian may enjoy it. However, he also includes warnings about the way in which the growth of this spiritual fruit may be hindered, as well as encouraging us to cultivate what he considers to be the obligation of spiritual joy, giving us various reasons why joy is such a blessing which incite us to seek and keep this happy fruit. And there is a practical conclusion, as he calls his congregation to “rise as one man, and sing, ‘Then let our songs abound, / And every tear be dry: / We're marching thro' Immanuel's ground / To fairer worlds on high.'” Read the sermon here: https://www.mediagratiae.org/resources/the-fruit-of-the-spirit-joy Check out the new From the Heart of Spurgeon Book! Happiness is the counterfeit of joy. This week, Ps Luke de Jong continues our series ‘Fruit of the Spirit' as we focus on Joy. Joy doesn't come and go like happiness does, it remains in abundance throughout life's up and downs because of the Lords constant presence in our lives.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne. - Hebrews 12:1-2When we reflect on Jesus life and what he came to earth to live this life we could never live and yet he considered it JOY.For a more interactive experience, watch today's episode on our YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/evangelistcalebwampler You can also find more information by visiting: www.kingdomencounters.us If you are hungry for more of the Lord head over to www.kingdomencounters.us/free where you can get all of our 7 day devotional series for FREE! Our next topic within our FOTS series focuses on the joy of the Lord! What is it, what are misconceptions about it, who has it, what impact does it have on families, and much more!
In this message, Emmanuel Cota focuses on JOY as a fruit of the Spirit, emphasizing that joy is not just an emotion but the pleasure of the Lord made manifest in our lives. It highlights that the enemy seeks to steal our joy because it represents God's pleasure in us. The message contrasts the fruit of the Spirit with the works of the flesh, urging believers to cultivate joy through scripture, prayer, serving, humility, and obedience. It also touches on personal struggles, showing how the enemy attacks joy but how God's love and grace restore it. The call to action is to steward joy through gratitude, remembrance, and sharing, living out a public faith.
Join us as we discuss what it means to walk in the joy of Jesus and how embodying that joy is transformative in our world.
