Drawing Near to the Throne of Grace: Luke 11:1-13
Sunday, June 21, 2026 - Hebrews 10:1-25 | This passage encourages believers to approach God boldly because of Christ's finished work, live in mutual exhortation, and hold fast to faith and hope.
Most people don't think much about peace—until it's gone. When anxiety rises, relationships become strained, life feels out of control, or our minds won't slow down, we quickly realize how valuable peace really is.In Part 3 of the Life on the Vine series, Marcel Hall explores the fruit of the Spirit known as peace and why biblical peace is much deeper than the absence of conflict. Drawing from Galatians 5, Philippians 4, and the broader story of Scripture, this message examines how peace grows when we stay connected to the God of peace.Along the way, Marcel unpacks the biblical meaning of peace, the difference between temporary relief and lasting peace, why we often look for peace in the wrong places, and how following the Holy Spirit transforms us into peacemakers who bring God's presence into our families, workplaces, schools, and communities.Whether you're dealing with anxiety, uncertainty, conflict, or simply feeling overwhelmed, this message offers practical and spiritual guidance for experiencing a deeper peace that isn't dependent on circumstances.Chapters00:00 Introduction and Sports Story 02:00 The Fruit of the Spirit: Peace 04:00 What Peace Really Means 07:00 The God of Peace 10:00 Peace Is a Fruit of the Spirit 12:00 Cultivating the Conditions for Peace 14:00 Walking With the Spirit 20:00 Drawing Near to the God of Peace 22:00 Peace Through God's Presence 24:00 Peace Through God's Truth 25:00 Peace Through Remembering God's Faithfulness 26:00 Philippians 4 and Anxiety 27:00 Becoming Peaceful People 29:00 Becoming Peacemakers 31:00 Practical Action Steps 33:00 Final Challenge and PrayerClick here to donate to the programClick here for more sermonsOC Church of Christ

Take these moments as you listen, and listen for Him – it is His words we are hearing – teach us the proper path, Lord. We will draw near – tell us the secrets of Your promises. From chapter 1 to chapter 10 the author has essentially hammered away at one message: Jesus is Better. But now he in essence asks an important question: What are you going to do with that truth? Doctrine always demands a response. Because Jesus has opened the way to God, believers must draw near in faith rather than draw back in unbelief. Will we draw near to God, or will we draw back from Him? Every believer is moving in one of those two directions.

The God of the universe, our High Priest invites us to come near. We need not fear, we can come confidently into His presence and receive mercy and grace for whatever we need. By Dave Bartlett
Pastor Timothy shows that through God’s Mediator, God forgives and removes our sins, restoring us– and ultimately all creation– to dwell in his presence.
What does it actually mean to draw near to God?In Exodus 24, everything changes. After delivering His people and giving the Ten Commandments, God doesn't just give instructions—He establishes a covenant, provides a mediator, and invites His people into His presence. This chapter reveals a powerful truth: following God is not just about being saved from something—it's about being brought near to Someone. In this message, we walk through:• Why we need a mediator to approach a holy God• How covenant is secured by blood—not just good intentions• The deeper meaning behind “the blood of the covenant”• The surprising moment where people see God and share a meal• How all of this points directly to Jesus and the GospelExodus 24 is not just an Old Testament moment—it's a preview of what Christ accomplishes for us. Through Jesus, we have a better mediator, a better covenant, and full access to God.The invitation is no longer “stay back.”In Christ, it is: draw near.
In this week's sermon we start our new series and 40 day, church wide prayer campaign, Draw Near. In this series and campaign we will spend extensive time talking about and engaging in prayer. Boundaries in Love: Discernment, Flattery, and Drawing Near to God Host Shirah Chante welcomes teens, parents, and youth leaders to Teens Draw Near to God and explains the show's purpose of helping teenagers know God through the Bible. Continuing her poem “Fair Love” from her poetry book Jaundiced View, she focuses on the lines about “sweetness of sound,” warning that flattering words can be insincere and used to manipulate, especially when teens feel insecure or rush relationships. She emphasizes discernment, giving relationships time, and honoring restraint through clear boundaries for one's body, mind, and soul, encouraging waiting for marriage and valuing friendship. She shares a personal story from Los Angeles about a night when a man respected her decision not to have sex, illustrating healthy boundaries. She closes with Ephesians 6:14–17, a prayer for teens, and a request for prayer.00:22 Welcome to Teens Draw Near00:56 Why This Podcast Exists01:57 Teen Years and Identity03:22 Why Read the Bible04:07 Introducing Poem Fair Love05:20 Reading the Full Poem07:34 Sweet Words or Flattery12:27 Restraint and Boundaries14:08 LA Story Testing Boundaries18:50 Practical Advice and Wrap Up19:39 Scripture Prayer and GoodbyeSupport the show

James 4:7-10 (NASB) 7 Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. Being in close(r) relationship with God involves dealing with your pride and sin in much humility. 1) Some Pointers for closer closeness to God (4:7) 2) The Importance of real repentance (4:8-9) 3) A Promise to the wholly humble (4:10)

Leviticus 1 | JD Summers Reading about the sacrificial system in Leviticus can seem barbaric and bloody. But these are graphic reminders that much is required to draw near to God. Our holy God desires wholehearted worship from his people, and he defines what that worship should look like. In his grace, he gives us the means for atonement, paying a price for our sin and purifying us from its stain. And in his kindness, God accepts our worship, imperfect as it often is. Let us wholeheartedly draw near to God in worship and praise for all that he is and has done!
What does it mean to return to God? How or why should we? Melody Duarte Morales - in her first ever sermon at The Story - shares an in-depth look at the heart of Ash Wednesday as we know it today, and reminds us how this season of fasting and repentance is a call, to believers and non-believers alike, to a life of reconciliation with God. Melody challenges us to decide to turn off all the noise and the chaos in order to hear God's voice and let him be the deepest desire of our hearts.
In today's message, Pastor Jack teaches us that the fear of the Lord is a misunderstood idiom, but it is actually a godly reverence that draws us closer to God and places us in a protective "safe zone," as seen in Jeremiah 32:40 where God puts this fear in our hearts so we will not depart from Him. He explains that this healthy fear, unlike demonic fear, is a good fear that motivates us to obey God's Word quickly and treat our relationship with Him with the utmost seriousness, because His Word has two sides—blessings for obedience and consequences for neglect. We learn that this reverence is His treasure that keeps our blessings secure from the enemy, and it is the key to walking in God's will, just as Jesus did. Pastor Jack encourages us to have a healthy concern, not worry, and to work out our salvation with "fear and trembling," meaning we should obey God promptly. He clarifies that while sins can lead to weakness, sickness, or even premature death, only the rejection of Christ leads to eternal damnation. Finally, he emphasizes the power of our words, teaching that we must get God's Word in our mouths and keep it there until it registers in our hearts, for as we speak it in faith—even in desperate situations—it will bring life and success, just as Joshua was instructed to do.Tune in now!Join us for service every Sunday at 9 and 11am (PST) and Wednesday at 7pm (PST)If you received Christ through this message, text JESUS to (253) 859-0832We would love to hear how God is touching your life through this ministry! On Day 12 of the fast, Pastor Azizah Morrison encourages listeners to remain engaged and intentional as the journey deepens. Rooted in James 4:8, this teaching reminds believers that closeness with God is not accidental, but responds to deliberate pursuit. This session addresses the natural tension that can arise mid-fast and calls listeners to resist drifting by choosing nearness with purpose. The teaching concludes with a full, faith-filled prayer, inviting renewed intention, deeper awareness of God's presence, and continued alignment as the fast continues.
What happens when an Australian butcher starts reading Leviticus—and finds it fun? In this unique episode, Dru Johnson speaks with Phil Bray, author of Leviticus on the Butcher's Block, about how his day job cutting lambs and steaks helped him see the book of Leviticus in a whole new light. Phil traces his journey from casual Bible reader to Leviticus superfan, exploring how rituals, sacrifice, and atonement make far more sense when you've broken down hundreds of animals by hand. Phil shares how ancient sacrificial rituals weren't necessarily about violent death but about preparing food as a gift to God. The conversation dives into the Hebrew understanding of holiness, clean vs. unclean, and why God's presence is depicted as a space without disease or death. Along the way, Phil and Dru reflect on Mary Douglas, Jewish slaughter laws, the power of smell and memory, and how the altar isn't where the animal dies—but where it becomes holy. Phil's insights bring theology and meat science into one coherent (and hilarious) frame, showing why Leviticus is deeply spiritual, richly embodied, and more relevant than most Christians assume. “The day is surely drawing near When Jesus, God's Anointed In all His power shall appear As Judge whom God appointed. Then fright shall banish idle mirth, And flames on flames shall ravage earth As Scripture long has warned us. “O Jesus Christ, do not delay, But hasten our salvation; We often tremble on our way In fear and tribulation. O hear and grant our fervent plea: Come, mighty Judge, and set us free From sin and ev'ry evil.”
