Tricia Boulton, RN, a nurse manager in the emergency department at Utah Valley Hospital, asked Dr. Marc Harrison: How will we standardize staffing levels across Intermountain when each hospital functions differently? How can we set our staffing levels based on Truven benchmarking when the way we do things doesn’t match up with other benchmarked hospitals? Are we planning to reduce staffing levels? Will each hospital still be able to staff in a way that reflects the needs of their local community?
