Hello my loyal listening populous, welcome to another installment by the honorable bro. This is an installment based around my fancy carrying case that holds my favorite records. All genres, obviously. Lightnin' Hopkins, Hendrix, Frank Ocean, Jai Paul, Fred Again and more of the usual suspects are featured in this episode with no surprise. I have recently went back and watched some really good movies lately. My parents were in town and while they were here we consumed Kicking and Screaming (RIP Robert Duvall), Beverly Hills Ninja and Sandlot. All of which hold their comedic value til this day. After my parents left, in my depression I watched the first three Pirates of the Caribbean flicks and I have to say.. Those surprisingly surpassed my expectations and I'm glad that I revisited them. I always liked the Davy Jones character and I totally crush it as Jack Sparrow for Halloween. In separate news, I CRUUUUSHED it with Pokemon cards this weekend. Picking up vintage Japanese copies of both Dark Charizard and Sabrina's Gengar. Woooooow. WHOOOOO needs this beating. Thank you for being here. Yuuuurp.Your Host with the Most,DJ Witwickatron

What does it take for a single idea to travel from a research lab in New Haven to war zones in Uganda, refugee camps in Malaysia, and clinics across 30 countries and six continents? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Myrna Weissman, one of the most consequential figures in modern psychiatry, to find out.Dr. Weissman co-developed Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) alongside her late husband, Dr. Gerald Klerman, on a simple premise: that human suffering is deeply tied to human connection. Grief. Conflict. Loneliness. Life upended. These are not niche clinical categories, but rather a universal language of distress. And IPT was built to respond to it.In this conversation, Dr. Weissman reflects on five decades of research, the pandemic-era project that became a sweeping global volume (now available free via open access), and what it means to build something that outlives its origins. *This episode briefly mentions suicide.(Re-post: This is one of our most beloved episodes, brought back by popular demand. If you've heard it before, we hope it moves you just as much the second time.)What Is Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Why Does It Work?IPT links the emergence of psychiatric symptoms to what is happening in a person's current life. It focuses on four core problem areas:1. Grief — the loss of a loved one2. Disputes — conflict with someone important to you3. Transitions — life changes, even positive ones, that disrupt relationships4. Loneliness/Isolation — chronic or newly developed lack of attachmentThese four areas have proven to resonate across vastly different cultures because they reflect fundamental aspects of the human condition. Dr. Weissman emphasizes that IPT is not the only evidence-based psychotherapy — it is “one tool in the toolbox, not a religion.”IPT for AdolescentsAdolescence is a prime time for IPT's problem areas, especially disputes, transitions, and loneliness. Key takeaways for parents:• Try to understand the specific stressors behind an adolescent's symptoms rather than reacting to global, dramatic statements.• Always be alert to the possibility of suicidal ideation.• Communication barriers between teens and parents are common; a trusted third party (grandparent, therapist, family friend) can sometimes serve as a valuable bridge. The New Book: IPT Around the WorldThis book is now available open access for readers everywhere! The COVID-19 pandemic gave Dr. Weissman the unexpected opportunity to connect with IPT practitioners worldwide. What began as a routine update to the standard IPT manual grew into a sweeping collaborative volume covering more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Contributors were asked: What are you doing? What works? What doesn't? What adaptations did you need to make?Notable chapters include:• Uganda — IPT was introduced around 2003 amid civil war and a mental health crisis. A landmark clinical trial published in JAMA confirmed its effectiveness. Sean Mabry, a former WHO worker, went on to treat hundreds of thousands of people using IPT, even by telephone during the pandemic, and has now established a low-cost program in New Jersey.• China — After government engagement and training by Columbia experts, IPT became what practitioners called a “rapidly growing practice,” with books, training programs, and internet-based delivery.• Malaysia — IPT has been applied with refugees, using the “transitions” framework to help people process displacement and profound loss.• Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Senegal, Zambia, Uganda) — Adaptations have been made for cultural context, including how disputes are communicated and resolved within different family and community structures.• Japan and Hong Kong — Initial resistance to psychotherapy has given way to growing acceptance and translated materials.• United States special populations — Chapters cover Alaska Natives, people who are incarcerated, sexual and gender minorities, pre-adolescents, adolescents, and older adults.Cultural AdaptationsDr. Weissman shares a vivid example from Uganda: women in marital disputes are often encouraged not to confront their husbands directly, but to work through an elder who mediates. The underlying IPT principle, that the dispute is driving the symptoms, remains intact; only the implementation changes.Resources Mentioned• International Society of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (ISIPT) — volunteer-run, affordable membership, biannual international conference (10th meeting held in the UK, March 2024)• Dr. Weissman's new book on IPT across international sites — published Open Access, freely available to practitioners and researchers worldwide• Oxford University Press — publisher of the standard IPT manualAbout the GuestDr. Myrna Weissman is the Diana Goldman Kemper Family Professor of Epidemiology and Psychiatry at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Mailman School of Public Health, and Chief of the Division of Translational Epidemiology at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Alongside her late husband, Dr. Gerald Klerman, she co-developed Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), now backed by over 140 clinical trials, translated into numerous languages, and recommended by the World Health Organization.
You have messed around and found yourself clicking on another installment from your favorite underground disc jockey on the internet. This episode, we flip through my Kanye catalogue. Vinyl only. So many bangers in this collection that I could easily do another Kanye episode equally as long, equally as good. I am a week late on the upload, for that I apologize. To try and inspire myself I looked at the stats of the pod. Clicked around and discovered a few things that are wicked hot. In the history of my tenure as a disc jockey.. We have managed 1,089 downloads in Asia, 874 in Europe, 131 in South America, 76 in Africa and 14 downloads in Oceania. All I need is someone to listen to my podcast at the North Pole and I'll have spanned the globe with my disc jockey audio radio thing we got going on ova hea now. Means absolutely nothing and I'll never make a dollar from this but holy smokes 14 downloads in Oceania fires me right up. Crushing continents with sound waves. Bing Bong. That'll about do it for me, I still need to update my ever-expanding Pokemon card portfolio. Heck yeah. Your Host with the Most,Witwicka Juan Don
“Writing meets you where you are. Writing can wrap itself around any situation you bring to it.” - Carolyn Roy-Bornstein, MDIn this rich conversation, host Dr. Jennifer Reid welcomes Dr. Carolyn Roy-Bornstein, pediatrician, former nurse, passionate advocate for narrative medicine, and author of A Prescription for Burnout: Restorative Writing for Healthcare Professionals. Together, they explore how reflective writing can serve as a genuine antidote to clinician burnout. Drawing on her own experience navigating her son's traumatic brain injury, decades of medical practice, and hundreds of writing workshops, Dr. Roy-Bornstein makes a compelling case that putting pain into language is not a luxury. It's a tool for life.

Greetings to my loyal listening populous across the interwebs. Welcome to The Chosen One, an installment based around my favorite hip hop artist, Jay Electronica. I was supposed to go to an Electronica show last week that was canceled. This Jay-centric episode, however, is not cancelled. I hope someone out there enjoyed it. My favorite part of this eppy might actually be one of the intermissions. Action Bronson's new song Triceratops is right down my alley. I had a huge smile on my face watching Paul Wall in the music video. Also, outside of the Jay stuff, the A$AP Rocky Westwood freestyle over Everything I Am might be the most lyrically impressive example from this installment. In other news, I have been a menacing presence to the local Pokemon market as of late. This weekend alone I came up at least $800 probably somewhere closer to $1200 and I couldn't be more fired up about it. Crushing it solo but the past few weeks have been making super sick connections in the scene that will catapult me to local glory in no time. Thank you as always for choosing to endure these audio waves. I really appreciate it and I'll be here to serve another one next week.Your Host with the Most,Trilly Bob Thornton
“I don't think we move past challenging experiences. I think we integrate them into our identities and into the wisdom we carry forward.” -Dr. Rebecca ThompsonIn Held Together: A Shared Memoir of Motherhood, Medicine, and Imperfect Love, Dr. Rebecca Thompson, family medicine and public health physician, weaves her personal story of life-threatening pregnancy complications into the stories of twenty-one patients, friends, and medical colleagues. Through profoundly honest and emotionally raw accounts, the book creates a space for connection, offering comfort to anyone touched by challenges in building or sustaining families. At its heart, Held Together aims to expand the understanding of motherhood's true diversity, while advocating for empathy, inclusion, and improved support for all women and families.Storytelling as healing Several of Dr. Thompson's collaborators shared that working on the book was the first time they had ever told their story in a coherent, cohesive way, and that the process allowed them to integrate the experience rather than feel stuck in it. Dr. Thompson draws a distinction between “moving past” challenges and carrying them forward with purpose.Building community, one relationship at a time Near the close of the episode, Dr. Thompson reflects on what it takes to build real community: patience, persistence, and the willingness to start small. Most of Held Together was written in 20-minute windows, in parking lots, between appointments, in the in-between moments of a full life. The book itself is proof that small, consistent actions can accumulate into something meaningful.References & ResourcesBook: Held Together: A Shared Memoir of Motherhood, Medicine, and Imperfect Love by Rebecca N. Hello to my friends and loyal listening populous via the interwebs. Welcome to Birds Come Home, what would effectively serve as the newest installment from your favorite C-List internet disc jockey. This weekend was RSD. Record Store Day for you absolute lames out there. I had it in mind all day but I didn't set up a lawn chair on the sidewalk or pitch a tent at the store. I had other extremely important plans that superseded my need to pitch a tent at a record store. I was busy advancing my position in the Pokemon realm. My game is undeniable at this point. More game than an arcade. I did make it to the record store with an hour to spare before close. I didn't leave with anything particular to RSD but I did leave with a sealed copy of Fred Again's Actual Life 2, which has been at that record shop in the same spot for a while now. I was waiting for an extremely tasteful local individual to pick it up. I was secretly hoping to look for it one of these times and find someone had bought it. That someone was me on RSD. A nice memory. This was a nice episode to me, I can't really pick a favorite part because most of it wasn't half bad. Maybe the Isley Bros on 45 take the cake with That Lady because of how distorted and synthed out the guitars sound on my copy. Thank you as always for lending me your ears and trusting my musical taste. Insider baseball, we're actually doing it Keisha. Checked recent stats and we're building in numbers. It's been around 4 years but finally seeing some growth. Almost 700 downloads this month and I'm extremely grateful and fired up about it. Serious thank you to whoever clicks on these things. I'm trying ova heeea. I'll be here with a super nasty Jay Electronica episode next week. If I can make it back from the concert. If not, there are worse ways to go. Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die. Your Host with the Most,Trill Belichick

Send us Fan MailMaybe you don't need more discipline - you just need a better strategy. In this episode, Business Strategist Michelle DeNio digs into the messy middle of business growth - that stage after startup but before scale, where revenue plateaus and the tactics that worked before stop delivering. This is where most entrepreneurs double down on “doing more” and burn out instead of building something sustainable. And although this conversation centers around ADHD-friendly strategies, it's actually for anyone who has struggled to stay consistent, follow through on plans, or make traditional business strategies actually work in real life. It's usually not because they lack discipline, but because they're trying to force strategies that don't align with how they actually operate.Michelle shares a more effective approach. One that works with your brain instead of against it.In this episode, we cover: • How dopamine, hyperfocus, and demand avoidance impact execution • Why traditional 90-day plans often fail (and what to use instead) • The role of data when your brain wants to rely on emotion • The concept of “visibility seasons” vs. “sales seasons” • Simple ways to build momentum without overwhelming yourselfYou do not need an ADHD diagnosis for this to resonate. If you've ever struggled to stay consistent, follow through, or make someone else's strategy work, this episode will show you a smarter way to grow.Links & References:Come network with us! Farmers who are trying to improve our planet and the quality of and accessibility of food from the ground up? Some of my favourite show guests over the years have been farmers. Nick Holliday of Belvedere Farm here in Australia, QLD, is full-time farming with regenerative principles and providing eggs, pork and beef. He and his family feed hundreds of families each week, through their CSA collective and other distribution partners. He has a background in union and community organising, law and freelance writing.Nick doesn't believe that “Vote with your Dollar” is going to fix this. Neither do I. I had to bring him on the show to discuss what really will help make local, nutritious and affordable food accessible to more people and what will help us step beyond culture wars and political labels and into the overlaps we all have and need, for good quality food, and work together to apply the right kinds of pressure in the right ways to effect real change. I hope you're as inspired as I am in this conversation - and that you accept the “group homework” suggestion at the end. Imagine if we all did this homework this week? Send us Fan MailYour next level of growth might not require more marketing - it might require a better customer experience. In this episode, I'm joined by Customer Experience and Messaging Strategist Dani Whitestone to talk about a growth strategy most entrepreneurs overlook: how people actually feel every step of the way when working with you.Because referrals, renewals, and repeat sales don't happen by accident. They happen by design. We break down what the “customer journey” really is (in normal human language), where trust quietly erodes in your process, and how small, intentional upgrades can increase revenue without adding more work.We also discuss: • The four R's of business growth: Revenue, Retention, Referrals, and Relationships • How to create meaningful connection points in your customer experience (and why even the little things matter!) • How to balance automation with real human touch • Simple first steps to audit and improve your client journeyIf you want clients who stay longer, refer you more often, and genuinely enjoy working with you, this conversation will shift how you think about growth.Links & References:Come network with us! Hello to my fantastic listening audience across the internet. Welcome to the latest installment of my podcast. I've been a busy boy this week. Mourning the loss of a head coach, paired with the end of the season for the Heels, planting a flowerbed and exponentially expanding a Pokemon collection in a weekend really can take it out of a fella. I watched the first half of the Dook Uconn game today and left the house in an upset storm around halftime to deal with my Pokemon affairs. Left the house angry because Duke was winning by 20, not thinking in the least that Uconn would come back and have one of the best finishes I've seen in years. Wow I do love this game. My favorite time of year if I'm being honest is still the fall because of the trees in the mountains. BUT March is a close second because of things like that Duke Uconn finish. March Madness makes it fun to be alive for a month. I did finish dead last in the bracket pool that I entered. Saint John's let the boy down. Tough cheese. I hope some individual out there enjoyed the episode. Honey Bee by Muddy Waters and company really kicks the mule. Prince on Plectrumelectrum is suuuuch a nice tone and still to this day, Jimmy Page playing No Quarter at The O2 Arena in my opinion is the best example of guitar playing that one could offer. Whoever reads this, God bless. But you're here so what the heck. In four months I've managed to find and maintain a loophole in the Pokemon card world that has allowed me to catapult rather quickly to an impressive collection. A card shop owner this week told another customer that I most likely have more than enough to become a vendor at card shows. I believe that he is right. To give a visual, it is currently 5 full binders of modern, 2 full binders of vintage and a huge tote box full of the more fancy stuff. All sorted and organized. I felt like the Daywalker at that card show this weekend absolutely going nuts in there and balling out of control. No shame at all. I'm a 33 year old man with more game than an arcade. I handed an ol boy a handful of cards for trade value earlier today. I read this guy like My Side of the Mountain. After seeing the top 3 cards in the stack, buddy looked up at me like I was Neo in the Matrix. "How did you know I liked this stuff?" his question to which I replied "Who doesn't like that stuff"? He gave a trade value offer and I cracked buddy for a nasty Mewtwo. WHAT AN EAR BEATING. The point is, I almost didn't have time for my ever-faithful listening audience across the inter webs because I was too busy balling out of control. Submitting this at midnight like Cinderella. Work in the morning will be cheesed out. Until next time..Your Host with the Most Pokemon cards,Witwicka Juan Don

Hello my friends and welcome to what will prove to serve as the newest installment uploaded by your favorite disc jockey on the internet. I am a deeply devastated daddy after Virginia Commonwealth University managed to upset my TarHeels in overtime. Not to mention my love life is boring me to tears. I see comments about the potential firing of Hubert Davis and to that I say shame on you. Wash your tongue with vinegar and go dig a hole somewhere. It's Hubert Davis around here foo. I could spill into the multiple reasons for my concrete stance but I won't give you that beating right now. It's FINE. My favorite portion of this episode would either be the cold slow and throw switch on the Nas 45, Boylife in EU by Yung Lean always makes me happy and honestly I believe Eternal Sunshine by Jay Electronica might be the best rap verse ever written. That's just me. Thank you as always for being here, I hope someone out there liked it. WHAT'S GOOD WITH YOU KEISHA?? Enjoy your weekend, I bought Holes on DVD today so I'll definitely be enjoying mine. Your Host with the Most,Juan Don

We're giving you a peek behind the curtain at how we decide what tools to keep, swap, and cancel this year - and why. This is more than an interview. It's an open, honest conversation between business besties about how we evaluate tools based on cost, capacity, simplicity, and actual workflow fit.We talk through what earned its spot (like Canva, ClickUp, HoneyBook, and ChatGPT), what got cut, and why consolidation often creates more momentum than adding something new.We also discuss:How to tell if a tool is actually driving growth or just keeping you busyUsing AI as a thought partner without outsourcing your voiceReducing meetings and increasing productivity with async tools like Fathom and LoomSimplifying your tech stack without slowing your marketingWhen to stay with your "comfort zone" tools and it's time to level upIf you've ever wondered whether there's a simpler way to run your business or you're curious how experienced entrepreneurs make real operational decisions, this episode will help you audit your tools with more clarity and confidence.Links & References:Come network with us! Listening to an old podcast recently, some fellas played Hand of Doom by Black Sabbath on vinyl and spoke about it. I had to cold open this joint with the Ozman and blast a rock episode out of respect. Second, John Bonham on the 1's and 2's sounds so good on the 180 gram wax. Really clean and heavy. Very full tom sounds. Two of the best examples of that being displayed here in Whole Lotta Love and Moby Dick. In the editing process, I crushed the air drums during Linkin Park to the point that I'm supremely confident I'd be able to set the house on fire playing that song on a drum set. It's almost flower planting season and I'm fired up. I pulled weeds in the flower bed today and I'll most likely start the pre seeding process this week. Wooooow. I've devoted my afternoons and weekends lately to expanding my ever-growing Pokemon card collection. No new vinyl pickups lately but I plan to go to the record shop this week and I'm sure I'll leave with something. Itching for some new 45's. For those wondering, I counted today and just a sneak peek into my Pokemon collection. I currently own 39 various Charizards, 80 Pikachus varying in value of course. But still. I'm fired up about it. Completed one of my favorite sets, the Radiant set. It's small, not very difficult to do. But I like them and who cares. Thank you for being a super sick loyal listener of my radio installments. Take good care of yourself and I'll be here all hot and bothered next time..Your Host with the MostHonorable Witwicka Juan Don
Hair loss can feel like a private crisis. It is often minimised, mislabelled, or treated as something you should simply accept as your fate. In this episode, Sasha, a naturopath who entered the field through her own long and confronting hair loss journey, shares why hair loss is far more common than we realise, and why hope is not naive here.In this conversation, we explore:Why hair loss is still a taboo topic, and how deeply it can affect mental healthWhat happens when you do the internal health work, but your hair still does not properly recoverWhy some medication pathways can become lifelong choices, and why many people look for other optionsThe difference between male and female hair loss and what impacts both during various life stages and health events. The often overlooked piece: the scalp environment, and why “just adding nutrients” is not always enoughEarly signs people dismiss, and why acting sooner can change the pathWhy perimenopause can shift hormones in ways that surprise people, and what a supportive, preventative approach can look likeThe missing layer in many plans: nervous system load, chronic stress, gut health and bringing safety and joy back into the bodySasha also shares what she has seen in practice when her clients commit to a structured approach with consistency: 100% of people experience some degree of improvement within months. Results can look different for different people, especially depending on history, stress load, and timing but results are still results, right? If you have tried everything, this episode offers a possible new set of tools and ideas. Outside of the Jai Paul Anniversary alt version bangers at the end, that Randy Travis 45 record slowed and throwed was my favorite portion of this wicked hawt installment and I'm all hot and bothered about it. To this day, the original test pressing of Styx's Mr. Roboto remains my favorite 45 record in my collection to slow and throw, but these slowed country tunes are so sick. Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain by Willie, Take Me by George Jones and now this one by Randy Travis just to name a few. I looked for Randy Travis slowed and throwed on the internet and found one example but it sounded like trash so this is the only place serving up a nice slice of game like that. The only game around town. I did get approached while shopping today by the president of a local 37 and under arena football organization. A put together, well spoken man that was naturally drawn to the aura of myself and my friend. He kindly introduced himself along with his cause, being that of keeping middle aged men off of the streets and doing the most to prepare them for the next level, seeking donation to help his cause and to benefit the grand scheme of his local football league. Little did he know, he was speaking with the best quarterback prospect in the building, with possibly an expandable radius of within 2 square miles, and the best long snapper/pocket protector in the Tri State area. I throw darts, people. An all-out aerial assault disguised as an unassuming local internet disc jockey. My friend that was with me can Olympic squat a mid size SUV and I've seen him do morally questionable things that let me know for sure, he is the perfect candidate to cover the blind side and let Juan Don go absolute Uncle Rico in the pocket and put on showtime for the masses. If I go on to have a famed local career in the arena football league, don't say I didn't call it. George Herman Ruthless in the pocket firing quick dirty cheese into the flat. Other than daydreaming about scrambling for first downs in the 37U league, I did manage to pickup more Pokemon cards today like a complete degenerate. It's embarrassing that I'm balling out this hard on Pokemon but I guess I could be doing worse things. God bless the person that reads this whole thing. Until next week..
