Entrepreneurship is a blessing and a curse. For so many of us who are bitten, we never get it out of our systems. Mike Savage is one such case. He's a serial entrepreneur and badass business coach who has spent years building, growing, selling, and starting over with business after business. He now helps up and coming entrepreneurs and business owners to reach the next level in their own businesses, no matter which level that is. His passion is to help entrepreneurs who are driven, make big, bold steps forward. It all started, sadly, after his father passed away. His dad owned a pharmacy and rather than watch her husband's life's work fall away, Mike's mom took up the reins and kept the business going. Despite having lost her husband, mom and aunt all in a short period of time, she kept going. After getting his degree in engineering, it didn't take him long to realize the corporate world wasn't for him. He really checked out after developing a tool to help people read while working out on exercise machines that took off. That was the first of many businesses that he grew to multiple seven-figures and now he's ready to help you do the same. Listen in as he shares his story and why he's so passionate about helping entrepreneurs.  In this Episode: [00:50] Welcome amazing serial entrepreneur Mike Savage. [03:08] What made Mike want to become an entrepreneur and start a business? [07:08] There are only two ways to learn things in life. Learn why![08:48] Mike's first business and the passion he has for entrepreneurship. [12:03] Passion for an idea doesn't always equal a profitable business. [15:28] But sometimes that passion is a hit![16:33] Learn more about what Mike is doing today. [17:59] Mike's entrepreneur's trilogy defined. [22:57] What's been his biggest challenge? 10 to Win - Make Today Count

A few weeks ago, as of the time of this recording, I unexpectedly lost a good friend. He died of a heart attack leaving behind his wife and teenage daughter. This hit me hard, both for having lost a friend and as I considered what his daughter was going through after this traumatic experience, being a dad as well. I had to ask myself, do I make each day count? Do you? It's not always easy, especially these days, to live with true intention. We have so much going on and so many distractions that days fly by without us really understanding what took up our time. So I challenge you to make it a point to live with intention and make each day count. Here are some tips I've used in my own life and I hope they help you. First, start with gratitude. Go beyond being grateful for your family, life, and health. Each day find something new that you're grateful for. Next, build meaningful connections. It doesn't matter how many connections you have if you never dig deeper and have real conversations with them. This next one is truly for everyone. Stop being so busy all the time. We give ourselves busy work and fill our days with inane tasks. Don't be afraid to have a short task list so that you can make it a point to live your life without working 24/7. Lastly, remember to help one person every day. It can be something as small as a smile and a good morning for your barista or as big as picking up the check at a restaurant. You never know what someone in your life may be going through, so the smallest gesture can mean a ton. So, friend, how are you going to make today count?  In this episode:[01:04] A few weeks ago I unexpectedly lost a good friend which made me ask, do I make each day count? [03:27] You have the ability to make your life and time count. [04:00] One way you can make it count is to lead with gratitude. [05:34] Next, you want to build meaningful connections. [07:11] We need to stop being busy. [08:20] Relearn the meaning behind H.O.P.E. Links and Resources: The Amazing Entrepreneurs ClubFacebook | Instagram | LinkedIn

10 to Win - Understanding and Avoiding Burnout

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 11, 2022 12:35

With the holidays upon us and the start of a new year, many of us are likely feeling or facing burnout. We don't have to succumb. The most important thing is to understand when we've reached burnout and figure out ways to avoid it. Listen in to learn more!First of all, we need to know the stages of burnout. This is important because the sooner we can identify our burnout, the more likely we'll be to avoid it all together. Stage 1: EnthusiasmStage 2: StagnationStage 3: FrustrationStage 4: ApathyStage 5: InterventionIf you've reached stage five, then it's time to bring in helping hands. It's likely however that if you're in a place of burnout, you're in one of the earlier stages. So what do you do when you realize you've started creeping toward true burnout? Here are my tips for avoiding burnout.First, take a time out. Simply stepping away and re-energizing with a lost hobby or a different activity can sometimes be the ticket. Then find ways to adjust your mindset. Our mindset is usually the reason we're in the deep, dark hole of burnout in the first place, so a realignment of sorts usually helps. Then, find an accountability partner to help you talk through how you're feeling and ways to avoid the pit. Next, journal. Seriously. Just writing things out will help you better understand your habits and how you got here in the first place. Surround yourself with successful people. The people in your life heavily influence your thoughts and behavior. This isn't to say that successful people don't get burned out, but they're usually much better at recognizing it. Lastly, practice gratitude. This is a big one and it's a practice that I am 100% behind. When you practice gratitude, you're putting yourself in the mindframe of realizing the things, big and small, that you've been gifted with. This is a powerful way to switch your mindset and find healing. How do you battle back the burnout?  In this episode:[00:52] I'm going to share my thoughts with you on how to avoid burnout.[02:09] The first stage is when we are at our best, which is called enthusiasm.[02:36] The next stage is called stagnation.[03:12] The third stage is frustration.[04:07] Apathy is the fourth stage of burnout.[04:28] The fifth stage is intervention.[05:32] Now let's discuss how you can avoid burnout.[05:51] Tip #1 Take time out.[06:46] Tip #2 Adjust your mindset.[07:37] Tip #3 Find an accountability partner.[08:15] Tip #4 Journal.[08:40] Tip #5 Surround yourself with successful people.[09:28] The final tip is to have and express gratitude.[11:02] I have your back and don't want anyone to experience burnout.[11:28] Thank you for joining me today!  Links and Resources: The Amazing Entrepreneurs ClubFacebook | Instagram | LinkedIn

If we didn't then the world would be extremely boring. While it means that relationships don't always run smoothly, it does mean that we have bright and vibrant lives. Also, you don't have to show up to every conversation that comes your way. You know what topics set you off and which people rub you the wrong way. Avoid them when you can. Set your boundaries and stick to them. If others don't respect them, then that's your cue to leave.Last, engage in your curiosity. It is so much easier to have empathy for others when you have a baseline of knowledge about their beliefs. I'm back with some tactical tips to help you network in this new hybrid world. Last time I shared all about the new landscape of networking and today we're going through ways you can make the most of your in-person, virtual, and hybrid events. First things first, you need to have a plan. What are you looking to gain by networking at this particular event? Who do you want to meet? What are your goals for networking in general? Figure out these specific bits and create a true plan for the event. It doesn't need to be a 20 page business plan, but it does need to be written out and it needs to be specific. Next, know thyself and your business. That's right! You need to come up with a unique and interesting pitch to quickly and efficiently introduce yourself and what you do. Something more than, “Hi! My name is Sid and I'm an [insert what you do and who you do it for.]” While that information is great, it's not something that will capture the attention of those around you. Listen in to hear a better alternative! Also, remember that networking is all about creating relationships. Resist the urge to go on and on about yourself and shift your focus to the people you're meeting and talking to. Finally, I'm sharing several different platforms you can use to strategically network online. I do mean strategically. You should have a strategy in place for how long you're networking, who you're networking with, and how you want your networking efforts to further your growth. Let me know if any of these tips have helped you strengthen your networking game! In this Episode: [01:18] You need to have a plan when networking in a hybrid world. [02:38] Know thyself and your business. [04:57] Shift your focus to the person in front of you.[06:56] Set goals for the events you're attending. [09:01] Various platforms to use for your networking strategy.[12:22] Learn about the “Not Creepy Room” on Clubhouse. [13:40] A new platform for me is Eventbrite. [15:50] Also check out Whatsapp, Slack, and Reddit.  Links and Resources: The Amazing Entrepreneurs ClubFacebook | Instagram | LinkedIn LinkedInClubhouseEventbriteWhatsappSlackReddit

Networking is changing. The overall concept remains the same but the way in which we do it and how we connect has changed rapidly. In my personal opinion, these changes are going to stick around for years to come. Listen in to hear my thoughts on the new landscape of networking and what you should focus on to make authentic and relevant connections. The pandemic of 2020 and 2021 has effectively opened our eyes to new ways of connecting. Thank goodness the technology already existed for us to continue interacting virtually, but now people the world over actually know how to use that technology. Which is why I don't believe full on in-person networking with large conferences and massive meetups will ever be a thing. Instead, I think we're moving to a more hybrid world of networking. Yes there will still be in-person events, but I think they'll be smaller and include a virtual option. That being said, you still need to employ the three “Be's” of networking. These days your connections are even more important and you're making them in a whole new way. You need to be intentional, be about community, and be engaging. Networking is a long game. Be prepared to create real connections with people who are excited to support and that you want to support. In this Episode: [00:50] Welcome to 10 to Win!
