Most of my mixes are for my commute to work in the morning. This one in particular is a mix of new and remixed R&B music I've found on Soundcloud and other places. Enjoy! TW: http://twitter.com/heydjcam IG: http://www.instagram.com/heydjcam
A quick mix I did for the Algorythm crew in Barcelona. I had the honor of spinning with them out there and it was truly special. Very grateful to rock the Spanish (and mixed foreigners) crod
It's been an interesting summer this year. I found a lot of fun remixes that kept the party jumping and booty's wiggling. Here are my favorite joints that were in my rotation this summer. Including The Weeknd, Teedra Moses, D'Angelo, and fresh remixes of Aaliyah, Amy Winehouse, and the Fresh Prince. Enjoy!
Hot out the oven! It's summer and that means some good sexy tunes to get you through the coming hot days. Songs and remixes from Lion Babe, OriJanus, Ameriie, Preston Harris (Krs. & Oshi remix), Phony PPPL, and Kaytanadra.
It's winter again and the snow is falling. To keep you warm and toasty I present some fresh out the oven r&b songs ! A few remixes, a few new tracks, and generally the things I've been listening to of late. it's a new year and it's time to start dropping mixes once a month. So I will! Enjoy
I created a party called "Hella Dope!" where it focuses on R&B dance music. A lot of the music in clubs nowadays is slow trap-like and I just wanted to go to a fun upbeat place of forgotten but dope tunes. This mix is a reflection of that party until the next one happens. Enjoy!
It's the Summer in NYC and you need a lil pick me up while you're working, walking, running, or creating. So here it be a lil shot of the goodness featuring MNEK who you NEED to know about (first and last tracks) and a host others. Enjoy! www.heydjcam.com podcast: www.heydjcam.com/music
After spinning a lot of Top 40 parties, Tim Grae and I wanted an excuse to wear bow ties and spin an eclectic array of music. Motown, acid jazz, breaks, broken beat, bossa nova, or whatever we could pull out of our arsenal. Thus was born "Ties & Tini's", a fun concept party where folks dress fancy, sip great drinks and listen to cool music. I present to you a nice healthy gumbo mix of fun music. Enjoy!
Oh Janet, how we love thee. From the upbeat danceable jams to the sultry and sexy slow jams to the ever present song Bridges that NO ONE does anymore. The Dance Music I miss, you know? This isn't a "Best of" Janet mix but more a "Songs of Janet that I like a lot" kind of mix. Hopefully, you are dancing in you seat and enjoying the day! www.heydjcam.com
My good friend asked me to make a r&b mix for his engagement party to play in the background. We used to rock in the same dance company where he choreographed to a lot of silky smooth r&b songs and called the style "buttamilk". So in that spirit, made a nice collection of faves to chill to. Check me out at www.heydjcam.com
I remember in Middle School (year 7-8) at the dances, the slow songs were the best and worst. Best because you get to dance with a girl (yay)! Worst because you had to ASK the girl to dance and possibly face rejection. Heavy stuff for an adolescent teen. However, the slow jams themselves were always good and stuck with me even today. I have a distinct memory for a lot of the songs in the mix. No real overall theme just some jams you might of forgot. Enjoy! Search: "DJ Cam - GeekChic DJ's" on itunes or check me at heydjcam.com
NYC right now is straight BRICK. So, that means staying in, making that warm cocoa/cider, and relaxing to some good tunes. It also means for me to stop being lazy and get back on my mix game! So here you go, quick and easy R&B (hip-hop remix) tracks that I used to see/hear on BET's Video Soul. A few gems but also a few favorites I haven't heard in a while. Enjoy!
Originally, I had the idea for this mix at the beginning of the summer but best laid plans and all, it didn't happen till now. This has been a good year for R&B and I wanted to have a mix of my favorites including Mayer Hawethorne, Quadron, MNEK, Jeni Suk, Eric Lau, Jonelle Monae, Daft Punk and of course Robin Thicke. Whoa, DJ Cam doing a mix of current music!? lol Enjoy!
I was introduced to Dancehall by my fellow crew member, DJ Sid VIcious way back in the early 00s. Wasn't really my thing but I enjoyed the bumpin' and grindin'. Fast forward some 10 years later and my ex girlfriend (literally a dancehall queen) showed me the vastness of all the subgenres and dance moves and culture of Jamaica. So this mix represents both: the old stuff that I first heard and the newer stuff I learned later. By no means is this a definite mix, just the stuff I like! Enjoy! Find me on iTunes "DJ Cam - Geek Chic DJ's" or hear more at www.heydjcam.com/music
Aw the New Jack Swing! Teddy Riley's stamp on R&B music that took America and the world by storm! I was only in my early teens but my older cousins were all about it. The style, the dancing, the music. It was my favorite time of R&B music. "Danceable R&B" as I like to call it. Also, R&B groups (not boy bands) were prevalent and drop crazy ballads that still ring true today. I think I am gonna have to make a "New jack Swing" slow jam mix next time. Enjoy!
My mom loves to dance, unfortunately, my dad doesn't. The brothers and I can all dance and make up for my dad's 2 left feet. That being said, she enjoys "danceable" music just as much as the next person. So this is for her, 80s style.
I've been "breakdancing" for about 20 years or so. Sure, I have learned other styles and performed in front of millions of people but bboying was my first style I took seriously. So herein lies my favorite breaks and songs to dance/rock to. Not a definitive list by no means but the ones I like the most. Enjoy!
I used to LOVE Rap City, the BOX, and Yo! MTv Raps! My cousin and I would tape (that's vhs not dvr kiddies) our favorite videos and then swap them with our friends. Sharing and learning new music. Of course, I was east coast bias and didn't learn much about local bay area rap till later...but that's a mix for another day
In these cold cold days we all need somethign to warm us up. So I made a mix of "danecable r&b" and a dash of hip-hop songs. You know, like over 95 bpm in the old days before all this slow crap on the radio now. enjoy!
So, a friend asked me what I would play if I was spinning at a Las Vegas nightclub. Something uptempo, "dancey", and something to get people moving. Here it is, a mix of old and new dance tracks, go get your wiggle on!
Aw afterwork drinks! The best time to unwind, catch up, and even meet new people. It's a mgical time in the life of a young professional because it quickly becomes your first official networking spot. I love afterwork events because they are low key and fun. ENjoy the sounds...
We (GeekChic) throw an event called. Ties & Tini's, every so often and it's cool. Bow ties always make you look good and a good martini or cocktail is a perfect compliment. This mix is a nice cocktail of old, new, and rare stuff that I like. Hope you enjoy and it's geekchic baby =) (s/o to PopePhoenix for the T&T logo art) Check the video [here]
I am a fan of house music and an ever evolving student of house dancing. This mix is just a few favorites old, new, and classic to get you moving. Nothing crazy, just good fun tunes to get you through the day. Enjoy! Dj Cam - Geek Chic DJ's
So, i took the week and actually listened to the radio. Mostly because I rarely do and sometimes you need to get in touch with what's popular. I still like spinning the smooth soulful sheit but I also like dancing with ladies as well. This is a nice grab bag of dance able tunes old, new, and forgotten. Enjoy!
Welcome everybody to the Season 2 Soundtrack Mixed by GeekChic DJ Cam and curated by Duane of The Maroon Cafe. Artists include Meek Mill, The Roots, Nas, Adele, Childish Gambino, James Blake, and Theophilus London. So enjoy and tell a friend!
I used to work at an indie movie theater/cafe in Downtown San Jose during college. It was an eclectic mix of artists, designers, writers, budding film makers, and musicians. Besides the random films we showed, we were allowed to play whatever CD’s (yea I said CD’s) we wanted. So I would make CD mixes of songs, give them themes, and play them in the cafe. One of the more popular ones were my “Hip-Hop Luv” mixes. Basically, R&B song’s with rappers on it or rap songs talking about women. Either way, they were a good reflection of what I would of listened to in my car, if I had one. That is the inspiration for this latest mix, enjoy and tell a friend.
When I came to NYC, one of my main goals was to learn how to house dance. I thought I knew when I came here but in about 5 minutes at my first house club I got schooled real quick! That was six years ago and I am still learning new moves and grooves even now. I also got more into the music and the various soulful sounds. Just that soft warm fun feeling of a good track. Either way, house is all about the music and I will never forget that that. - DJ Cam
Welcome to the first of many mixes from Geek Chic. I am your host, DJ Cam, and this is a little sample of what I have been playing recently. A healthy mix of soulful sounds to ease your workday. Enjoy!
