Laughter and Libations is about the intentional pursuit of joy. I'm challenging myself to be courageous and share my stories as I shake, stir, strain, steep, brew, and mix up my favorite libations and laugh my way into a more joyful life. I’ll share experiences that focus on self-care, home life, and work life, and I invite you to join me on this journey.

Are your interactions with others filled with laughter and joy most of the time, some of the time, or rarely? What if you discovered you rarely interact with people with whom you laugh the most? What if you discovered you rarely interact with the people who bring your the most joy? What would you do? Could you change those interactions to increase laughter and joy (for you and the other person)? This episode can help give you insights about your relationships and give you a starting point for how to change your interactions to align with your daily laughter goal and your desire for more joy. October is when it feels like we're turning from summer to fall and then back again. It's an in-between time. Nevertheless, I mix up a libation with fall flavors. I rant about finding the right shoes for homecoming activities, and you may be surprised to learn that Halloween isn't on my list of favorite holidays. I'm beginning to think about the next season for the podcast, and I ask for your input. Tough times do come around and for me, it's been since late July. Every time the phone rings or a text message pops up, I cringe a little because serious challenges have surfaced in the lives of family and friends in my circle. These challenges relate to health and the loss of loved ones, and there are far too many to count. In this episode, I share my experiences with feeling stuck, sad, and scared and not being able to get to joy. This is not easy to talk about. I almost passed on publishing this episode. When people show you who they are, what is your response? Do you accept it or do you wish for something else? If you find yourself wishing people are different than they actually are, this episode is for you. It's a reminder to accept people as they are and not as you wish them to be. It's a reminder that spending your time wishing, waiting, and trying to make people different than they are can lead to so many things that are the opposite of joy.
