We say funny things to each other when we're rolling around on the mat with our Jiu-Jitsu friends. This episode is all about the head-scratching, giggle-worthy quirks that only Jiu-Jitsu folks truly understand. From proudly showing off bruises to the odd bowing when stepping from carpet to mat-like surfaces, we explore the endless scenarios that make our Jiu-Jitsu culture so uniquely its own. We've had some reflective and intense episodes recently, but today we're steering towards pure Jiu-Jitsu silliness - bruises as badges of honor, the peculiar joy of “heaviness,” and why your friends might think you're trying to choke them during a hug (but seriously, who doesn't love a good overhook?). So whether you're reminiscing about your latest gi burns or simply need to hear some Jiu-Jitsu banter when your rolling buddies are out of reach, this episode has got it all. Drop us a message with your book recommendations for our next book club episode. Highlights (02:55) Look! new bruises (05:08) When it's a compliment in Jiu-Jitsu but not anywhere else (06:47) The joy of getting beat up by your friends (08:23) When you see those speckled bruised out in the wild (11:02) That weird sensation when you feel relief and disgust at the same time (12:54) Helpful tips for not practicing Jiu-Jitsu on your family at Thanksgiving If you Love the Podcast, Share it with a Friend! Levi, eyeing the lone (and perhaps magical) pea on his plate, decided to forgo eating it and instead magically shrank himself, diving into a microscopic world to see what's inside. Silly and Funny Things are our family's bedtime stories. Each boy (Miles, Ari, and Levi) gets to pick a word that will show up in the story. The stories aren't edited (who has time for that) and they include everything from chit-chat to us reprimanding our kids - a very immersive experience.
What will the boys do when they wake up one morning and in the middle of their room was a large red button with a sign saying "DO NOT PUSH THE BUTTON!"? What's up everyone and welcome to The Corporate Bartender!I keep saying it, the AMAZING episodes just. Keep. Coming! DEI is one of the most prominent HR themes here in 2023. Organizations are wrestling with how to balance DEI initiatives with tactical day to day operations. There are voices in this conversation that need to be elevated, and boy do we have one of those voices here with us TODAY! We are so grateful, and just flat-out honored to have Buki Mosaku on the program! If you don't know Buki, no worries, today's your lucky day!Buki is the founder and CEO of DiverseCity, a workplace bias and DEI consultancy. He is one of the world's foremost bias-navigation experts. He's a consultant, speaker, coach, and the author of I Don't Understand: Navigating Unconscious Bias in the Workplace.Buki joined us from London, and because we do the show "live" he stayed up until after midnight to have this AMAZING conversation. We had a few issues with his transatlantic video (it resolves about 20 minutes in), but the audio is on point, throughout. This conversation was quite literally my FAVORITE of 2023 (so far), and I think you're all gonna really dig it!If you want to skip straight to the interview, 4:58 is your spot!TCB Layout:0:00 - Show Open & Intro1:31 - Titles1:56 - Kickoff 4:58 - Buki Mosaku Interview52:50 - Funny Things & WrapWebsite: https://bukimosaku.com/Join our community!https://the-corporate-bartender.mn.co/Theme Music by Hooksounds.com

It's easy as a parent to focus on the things that maybe frustrate you. We feel that the more we've had to parent, the more mellow we have become because now we just see them repeat the same things that the first ones did and it now just makes us laugh. Our children do a lot of funny things that we maybe initially thought was annoying, but after realizing it's just something that kids do, it has become endearing, like when they feed the dog and the dog is covered in food later, or when they stand on your feet while trying to get a better view of what you're doing. Standing on Rosie's feet 1:25Dog funnies 4:30Vacation and defiance 7:05Egging each other on 13:00“They do that at the dinner table where they're both at either head of the table and they'll just start throwing food and it's funny because you can't really say anything because if you tell one of them off for doing it, the other one is laughing, so then they laugh and you can't tell two of them off… You have to just wait for them to grow out of it.” 13:15https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy.
