This one is not for the kiddos. It's one of those times Steve may regret letting Brandon pick the movie. But, let's get right to it.Bunny The Killer Thing: We're never told why, but some bad guys in Finland get their hands on a serum that turns people into anthropomorphic rabbits with over-sized genitals and want to infect humanity with this creation. But, they shoot a guy up with it, and he turns into a homicidal maniac...looking for love in all the wrong places. He ends up killing a bunch of people, before getting his comeuppance. Then things get tied up in a bow when our heroes also end up killing the *real* bad guys, who are doing the experiments. The Bunny with the Killer Kyrpä, shoutout to #Finland, ends up being a mere pawn in a conspiracy of Bishops. Get you a special someone who loves you as much as Finnish people seem to enjoy schlong in their movies.Bunny the Killer Thing final grade: Steve: Acting was more competent than you would expect. While a "bad" movie with a dumb premise, this one over-performed. However, as a sophisticated movie viewer, who appreciates the lack of penis in movies, I have to deduct a half-point. 3.74/5.0Brandon: A wiener twist like we haven't seen yet. It's not hard to envision a scenario in which YOU might hate this movie and think it's the worst. But, I actually liked it. 4.37/5.0Cocktail of the Week:Azalea1 1/2 oz Vodka1/2 oz Genadine, fancy or otherwise5 oz LemonadeAdd vodka and lemonade to a cocktail shaker. Shake to chill and combine. Pour grenadine in the bottom of the glass over ice, and then add the vodka/lemonade on top. With the neon red Rose's grenadine, it makes a nice pink effect. Cocktail Grade: A tasty twist on the classic vodka and lemonade. Highly recommend this to my sister, who is a vodka/lemonade aficionado. 4.5/5.0------------------Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to:boozeandbmovies@gmail.comX: @boozeandbmoviesInstagram: @boozeandbmoviesThreads: @boozeandbmovieswww.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies
Tonight on Murder, She Wrote…This week we discuss an episode of Murder, She Wrote, which is such a great show! It is available to stream on Peacock and probably playing somewhere on some network right now. This show ran for 12 seasons and had 4 made for tv movies. It was on in the 80s, the 90s, and in 2000. If you haven't ever watched an episode, I highly recommend checking it out. Jessica Fletcher's Tangerine Twist Cocktail (silverscreensuppers.com):Ingredients Fizz - champagne, prosecco, cava, crémant, alcohol-free sparkling wine or sparkling waterTangerine, mandarin, or orange juice1/4 teaspoon of grenadinePeche de Vigne or Apricot brandyOrange bitters (optional)Maraschino cherries or a cocktail umbrella to garnishDirectionsIn a champagne flute, pour equal amounts of juice and your choice of sparkling drink, leaving enough space for a shot of booze if you are going down that route.Slowly add the grenadine.Add a few dashes of orange bitters if you want to take the sweetness down a notch.Add ice and decorate with maraschino cherries or cocktail umbrella.Cabot Cove Punch (marissaberrini.com):Ingredients 1 bunch of Basil (garnish)2 pints of blackberries (or container), rinsed1 bottle of Trader Joe's Sparking Clementine Flavored Juice1 bottle of Trader Joe's Sparkling Pomegranate Flavored Juice1 bottle of Trader Joe's Limeade1 cup elderflower liqueur, such as St-Germain2 cups Vodka1 bag of ice (preferably make your own at home with filtered water)DirectionsDivide the blackberries into half and place one pint to the side for garnishing. Next, mash together 8 ounces of blackberries. Now line a large punch bowl with the muddled blackberries.Stir in your juices one at a time, to avoid any mishaps. Pour the elderflower liqueur and vodka into the bowl and be sure to taste. If you prefer your drinks stronger, add in the second cup. Just be mindful that punches usually pack a punch. To serve, line glasses with 1 basil leaf and a single blackberry ahead of time.Murder, She Wrote Drinking Game (bonniegrrl.livejournal.com):Drink when…Jessica Fletcher stumbles across a dead body while jogging.Jessica Fletcher is wearing a blue velour track suit.someone eats pie.murder suspect doesn't button his shirt all the way because it's sexier that way.you count more shoulder pads at a cocktail party than a football game.Jessica Fletcher complains about "Big City life" & yammers on about Cabot Cove.Jessica Fletcher gives health advice to a cabbie.Jessica Fletcher fends off muggers with her purse.Jessica Fletcher snoops in someone's office.Jessica Fletcher hides underneath a desk while snooping.Jessica Fletcher spots a concealed weapon on someone.someone breaks into Jessica's hotel room.Jessica Fletcher is hit on my an elderly dapper gent wearing a cardigan w/ elbow patches.Jessica Fletcher typing her book during a scary thunderstorm.Jessica Fletcher is held at gunpoint by suspect.Jessica Fletcher's niece or nephew is arrested for murder.Jessica Fletcher uses the word "shenanigans."someone drops something on the floor when Jessica figures out a clue.someone gets pushed down a flight of stairs.whenever Jessica Fletcher and her "cousin" are both played by Angela Lansbury.Jessica Fletcher offers her famous lobster stew as a bribe.a mysterious caller tells Jessica Fletcher to meet at the abandoned warehouse down by the docks.Someone faints or screams.an old man or boy toy kisses Jessica's hand.a homicide detective tells Jessica to go back to Cabot Cove.when someone says, "I don't have to answer your questions, lady!"anytime you say to yourself, "Hey it's that one guy/lady from that one show!”Jessica Fletcher glares.an image of lightening is used to establish the weather.freeze-frame hug at the end.As always, drink responsibly and with others. Yinz ever think about those movies from your childhood that maybe had a huge influence on your, or helped shape you into the person you are today? Well we kinda did, so we decided to make this a topic! We'r'e talking about the movies that we watched as kids that really stood out, the movies we watched as kids that we probably shouldn't have, and the movies that we never truly understood as kids, but then came back to as adults and either made sense of it, or just completely broke down, because some things just hit different when you're older. With newcomer Gabe DeRose and podcast favorite, Hank Fodor, the three of us dive into what our childhoods looked like, and also why we're all just so cool. So. There's that. The themed cocktail of this episode, is the Blue Lagoon (not that that's a a movie that any of us watched as kids...but it is the name of a movie...and I happened to have all the ingredients for it). The Blue Lagoon1.5oz Vodka1/2oz Blue Curacao 4oz LemonadeLemon wheel for a garnish.Mix all ingredients together in a shaker with ice, serve into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with a lemon wedge. This month I reflect on the reason why I'm forming a habit of celebrating life everyday, and I continue to encourage you to do the same thing. I rant about Facebook's decision to get rid of podcasts and revisit the FitBit situation with an update. The libation of the month is called Raspberry "Tea" and of course it has my twist on it. Get your ice cold tea right here! I wrap up with advice on selecting your personal song for the year and give the simple reason why my podcast isn't on YouTube...yet. You'll have to see me on Instagram for a little while longer. Laughing Matters is published at the end of each month. It's the end-of-the-month highlights and includes four segments: celebrations, libation of the month, rants, and questions and answers. Celebrations are about intentionally forming a habit of noticing and acknowledging the good in you, in your life, and in your sphere of influence. The libation of the month is based on whatever I fancy or feel inspired by at the time. I share step-by-step instructions and you can mix right along with me. Rants are about anything I find funny and want to share. Then, I wrap up by answering questions received from listeners throughout the month.MentionsSeason 1Episode 27: Setting Goals for 2022Season 2Episode 37: Laughing Matters (April 2022)Libation of the Month:Raspberry "Tea"2 oz Raspberry Tea (make it strong)1 oz Vodka1/2 oz Raspberry Liqueur1/2 oz Simple Syrup Top with Sparking White Wine Serve in a HighballSip with a Fun StrawConnect with meSubscribe * Follow * Rate * CommentTwitter @laughsandlibs Instagram @laughterandlibationslaughterandlibations.com

Season water with salt. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and drain pasta.Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add shallots and pancetta and saute for 5 minutes, add garlic and red pepper flakes and saute 1 minute longer.Remove pan from heat and add tomatoes, vodka, season with salt and pepper. Return to medium-high heat, bring to a simmer then reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer until strong alcohol scent has cooked off, about 15 min, stirring occasionally.Stir cream in and let just heat through, about 1 minute. Stir in parmesan and basil.Add drained pasta to pot with sauce, toss to coat, while thinning sauce with a little pasta water as needed. Serve with more parmesanKristin's Vodka Sauce½ cup pancetta (medium dice)½ cup chopped onion or shallots (small dice)2 cloves minced fresh garlic1 tsp crushed red pepper (or to your preferred level of spice)½ cup Vodka1 28oz can whole, peeled plum tomato 2/3 cup of Heavy Cream (at room temperature or slightly warmed) Freshly grated parmesan cheeseCooked Pasta of choice (penne, rigatoni, cascatelli)In large pan, heat to medium-high and add the pancetta. Cook until browned but not burned. Add the chopped onion / shallot and cook until translucent. Add chopped garlic and crushed red pepper and cook for 1 minute – do not burn. Add Vodka to the pan and allow to cook briefly. Open plum tomato can and add to the pan. Allow to cook and then break up the whole tomato with the side of a spoon. You want it to be chunky. We start with The Fajita Thief and talk about what's the Gentlemanly thing to do with $1.2M dollars of Fajitas. Bryan's met Super Mario: the man who jumps cruise ship to cruise ship. Ambassador Kid Rock (thankfully) refrains from telling DJT what do do about North Korea. We talk about a Japanese Man who is paid to be a silent companion for people but ponder what a toll this must take on him. Turns out the CEO of Goldman Sachs steals peoples hearts just as he steals their money as a DJ. Between working in live theatre and events my entire adult life I have seen everything go wrong. It's never what you can plan for. And every time its a total surprise but working in these industries you have to roll with the punches and make it work. We decided not to subject any guests to this astonishingly terrible episode featuring the return of Aunt Julie, Grandma Ruth, and the Colonel. It is kept under lock and key for a reason. You know, all your inner thoughts, secret wishes, deepest desires, protected by two hard covers and a lock and key. And the social contract that binds us all, that males us human- do not read someone else’s diary. Its a part of our social contract, our moral code, our given rights to one another, from childhood throughout adulthood. Then, does it surprise you, dear listeners, to know that these two hosts cannot be trusted to keep that code enforced. Of course it doesn’t, Claire is the nosiest bitch you’ll ever meet. She tells you at the beginning of every episode, duh. Welcome in to episode 83, where we admit our bad behavior freely, but what the hell is new in the world of this podcast? We believe it makes you all love us that much more. This week in review brings the roses (Claire can finally play some real games with her oldest son and is enjoying her uno champion status) and the thorns (Fran is getting old and needs to start taking glucosamine for her bunk ass knee joints). News of the week is kept on the lighter side, during these dark times (B- celebrity Armie hammer is giving some real wild Dms out to the 20 year olds of the world and the sex and the City reboot is a coming!). A listener is seeking our advice this week asking if it is OK to read her daughter’s diary in order to gain insight into her world. Let’s just say that no good ever comes from reading another persons diary, we should know. The ladies are sharing wether or not they have been guilty of reading someone else’s diary on this weeks, “ask us anything”, and you all already know this answer. Shit the ladies like this week highlights a local woman owned restaurant that just opened in East Sacramento and a weekly meal prep/planning service that is is not using diet culture fads as its foundation. Hallelujah. Lastly, this weeks hater is brought to you by The People Of Sacramento Sams insta page. If you haven’t jumped down that rabbit hole, you really should. This year. This fucking year. I think it’s safe to say, dear listeners, that we all have some version of this same refrain. You lost your job? Cool one of us did too. You haven’t seen your family in more than 6 months? Yep, that’s going on this way as well. You lost a parent, a friend, a family member or loved one? You bet your sweet as we know how that feels. So what does one do when this garbage pile of a year just keeps getting shittier?! You drink and you laugh, that’s what you do. Welcome in to episode 63 where we tip our glasses to a friend of the pod who passed on this last week and where we generally have a difficult time getting out of our feelings. This week in review brings listeners the good (Claire’s son started loving the pool and Fran is trying to find silver linings) and the bad (the death of a friend, the state of the country and the loss of a job). News of the week is a roller coaster of sadness (so many celebrity deaths) and joy (claire and fran have designs to rent themselves a concert tour bus) Advice comes to us from a gal who does not feel comfortable attending her friends plantation wedding in the south (news flash, this is such an ignorant racist thing to do- stop with the plantation weddings). The ladies are continuing to share shit they like (More food and more video content). Look for the photos on our Instagram page: @podcasteatdrinkRice, Kidney Bean and Corn Pilaf2 notes: if you can make this in a cast iron pan, you won’t regret it. And I’m suggesting brown rice because it is tough enough to withstand being tossed with the beans; white rice would fall apart.Ingredients:1 ½ cups brown riceOlive oil1 small can kidney beans, rinsed well1 medium-sized onion, diced5-7 cloves of garlic, minced and smashedFresh thyme1 tsp cumin seeds½ tsp chili flakes (red or arbol or pasilla – whatever you have)½ tsp dried oregano (optional)¾ cup, frozen sweet cornFresh kale or swiss chard, torn smallSalt, to tasteHot sauce, to tasteFresh flat-leaf parsley or cilantro, rinsed well and choppedFresh tomatoes, for garnishMake the brown rice, according to instructionsWhile the rice cooks, add 2 tbsp olive oil to pan over medium heat and fry onion until it softensAdd garlic, thyme and all dry spices and sauté over medium heat for 5-7 minutes (add more olive oil if you think you need it)Add corn and greens, fry for another 3-4 minutes or until greens are softenedAdd salt and hot sauce, mix wellAdd brown rice (either just cooked or leftover room temperature rice), toss well in panGarnish with herbs and fresh, ripe tomatoes and serve!Cauliflower and Kidney Bean TacosFor the FILLING:1/2 Cauliflower, cut into small bite-sized pieces1 cup of red kidney beans2 tsp olive oil5 garlic cloves1 tsp garlic powder1 tsp cumin seeds1 tsp ground cumin1 tbsp paprika 1/2 tsp red chili flakes1/2 large tomato, diced small 1 tsp salt Fresh lime juice - add olive oil to a large frying pan, set over medium heat- add cauliflower pieces, fry for one minute, then add all dried spices and stir to coat- fry for 5 minutes, turning every minutes, then add all remaining ingredients.- fry over medium heat until cauliflower is slightly softened, but make sure it still has a crunch. What to do when a pandemic has you sheltering in place, you can’t get closer than 6ft to others and there are no cleaning, paper products and milk at the grocery stores? Why listen to Claire and Fran, of course! Weird times call for episodes coming out late, Claire trying to call Fran out and being clearly wrong and Fran being oppositional, stubborn and angry. Nothing changes on this pod, even in the times of corona. Welcome in to episode 47! This week the ladies are holed up in their homes like the rest of the country, drinking their lives away, arguing over advice and news and coming in hot with anything but corona related content. This week in review brings some bright spots (Last meals at restaurants before The Rona and Bachelor finale parties) and some not so bright spots (Fran’s dads birthday after his passing and Ear infections). Selected, poignant, in depth news is shared (Amanda Byrnes in Preggo?!) and Rona related advice is dispensed (will this listener and her partner survive the quarantine?) Do you want to know more shit we like? Even if you didn’t, you are getting it (podcasts and children's books- don’t be too excited). Lastly, this weeks hater is brought to you by boomers who will not listen to reason during times of shelter in place.
