Karen Holt didn't realize her childhood was anything other than normal, whether it was her father's absence every Monday to Friday; their odd moves from town to town without any warning;  the FBI arresting her father; visiting a mafioso on his ranch; or even visiting her father in his ‘country club' prison.As she became an adult, she realized her father, Chauncey Marvin Holt worked not just as an accountant, circus performer, or painter, but also for the CIA; he had curiously prominent friends; and also did work for the mafia. As he neared the end of his life, her father told her much of what he was involved in during her childhood, including his being at Dealey Plaza the day JFK was assassinated. This investor makes six figures in profit without putting a single dollar into her real estate deals. Using a new real estate investing “model,” Chauncey Pham has cracked the code to make as much profit as possible from a single property. It's so genius, we're surprised no one has come up with it before, but today we're sharing it with you. Chauncey has always been good at sales—clearly, when she replaced her W-2 income in the first three months of being a real estate agent. She saw her investor clients making money hand over fist, and thought, “If they can do it, why can't I?” So her husband quit to help her try flipping houses. The first deal netted a $60K profit.  That was it. It was time to go all-in. But then Chauncey realized something crucial. In every house flip, dozens of people are getting paid. The buyer's agent, the seller's agent, the lenders, the contractors, the stagers, and the title company. This was six figures in expenses that she could be collecting. She is the granddaughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the Pakistani prime minister arrested and executed in the 1970s. She is the niece of Benazir Bhutto, twice prime minister of Pakistan before being assassinated in 2007. Her father, Murtaza Bhutto, was killed when Fatima was just 14 years old. Whether it's immigration, race, climate change, the role of religion, or the economy, many of our assumptions that we view as completely reasonable can seem whacky or wrong to others. This may well include very smart, thoughtful people, who've had very different life experiences than our own.Our guest for this episode is Chauncey Williams, a Democratic-leaning Braver Angels volunteer in Denver.He was shocked when Donald Trump was first elected President in 2016. But instead of retreating into his political silo, Chauncey began a unique project. On different occasions he set up a table with two chairs in local parks, and invited total strangers to have conversations about important public matters. “One of the important things I came to realize is that I walk into a lot of those conversations with a host of assumptions about folks that aren't always true,” Chauncey told us. “I've often been fascinated and humbled by realizing my own limitations in knowledge, and having that revealed,” he said. “I've had this happen on more than one occasion… As uncomfortable as it is, I also welcome it.”In our revealing interview Chauncey shares what he learned from his “chats in a park” project.
