If you are not watching Doctor Odyssey, you need to start now. It is one of those shows that is so cheesy that it's good. It's a guilty pleasure show for sure and I love it. I wanted to choose this episode because it features special guest stars Kelsea Ballerini and Margo Martindale as mother and daughter. I wasn't prepared for what this podcast episode turned out to be. Just so you know, Doctor Odyssey is about Max, who is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. It stars Joshua Jackson, Phillipa Son, Sean Teale, Don Johnson and features so many guest stars, like the modern day Love Boat. Check it out on Hulu or on ABC.The Midnight Scalpel (I asked ChatGPT):Ingredients2 oz Dark Rum (bold and brooding, like the doc himself)0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice (for a sharp, clinical edge)0.5 oz Ginger Syrup (zingy and exotic, just like the locales)1 dash of Angostura Bitters (adds complexity like a backstory)Splash of Activated Charcoal (for that inky, moody drama)Top with Club SodaGarnish: Thin cucumber ribbon & a metal cocktail pick (like a surgical tool)DirectionsShake rum, lime juice, ginger syrup, bitters, and charcoal with ice.Strain into a highball or Collins glass over fresh ice.Top with club soda for fizz and tension.Garnish with the cucumber ribbon and silver pick - because it's Dr. Max Bankman and he doesn't do basic. For a mocktail version called Code Black, replace the rum with black iced tea like Earl Grey or Lapsang and remove the bitters.Doctor Odyssey Drinking Game:Drink when...they are in the infirmary.you see a guest star.you see gold medical instruments.someone says "We're losing them!" or "I need ___ccs now!"their watch goes off.something super cheesy happens.sexual tension between any of the main characters.they have to resuscitate someone. the medical staff tries something new and risky to save a life.Take a shot when...someone goes overboard.you see a country superstar as a guest star.for a cliffhanger. As always, drink responsibly and with others. This month the importance of resilience is on my mind. Why? Because change is all around and it's not going to stop. We have to figure out how to be with change. Rants include a new take on a veggie burger and Part 3 of "Those people who don't know how to act in public." I wrap up with a question for you. Send your response and you could be featured in an upcoming episode. Laughing Matters features the end-of-the-month highlights and includes four segments: celebrations, libation of the month, rants, and questions and answers. Celebrations are about intentionally forming a habit of noticing and acknowledging the good in you, in your life, and in your sphere of influence. The libation of the month is based on whatever I fancy or feel inspired by at the time. I share step-by-step instructions and you can mix right along with me. Rants are about anything I find funny and want to share. Rants are my stories.Ask me a question. It might be featured in a future episode.
The Dark Rum Podcast where we discuss Monsters, Myths, & Mayhem. The Boys are back in 2024 with a brand-new completely unannounced season of Dark Rum. Like seems to happen every year the boys ended their previous season even though they don't have seasons and now they're back, and what better way to celebrate the return than with a return to everyone's favorite Bad Horror commentary series Horror So Bad It's Good; this time in the spirit of the holidays the boys watched "Silent Night" the 2012 loose remake of the 1984 controversial cult classic "Silent Night Deadly Night". This holiday movie is chocked full of a Killer Santa doing Killer Santa stuff, a handful of recognizable actors, terrible dialogue delivered terribly, no magic even though there were a few hints for no reason, pervy priest, Douchey Santa, Frank the Softcore Porn Guy, other Evil B-Plot Santa, and so many lens flares you normal-eyed people will finally understand the plight of those with an astigmatism! This was a bad one but you know what they say start the year off bad so there's no where to go but up! She knew she wanted to be an author from the day she first read A Wrinkle in Time when she was a child, and she grew up inspired by authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien, Philip Pullman, Garth Nix, and Dennis Lehane (the ultimate master of plot twists). It has always been her dream to become a published author, and it is her hope to expand into multiple genres of fiction. http://linktr.ee/authormaphipps Rebecca is an American author who resides in the bucolic hills of West Virginia in the heart of Appalachia with her rugged husband, two hilarious daughters, and a small congress of animals. As you can see, she's fond of pretty words and has been since preschool. This is also probably why she wanted to be an author after reading Catherine Called Birdy when she was ten. This was the book that taught her how to say cuss words in a creative manner. Rebecca has two published short stories in the science-fiction and urban fantasy genres and plans to write full-length projects in the near future. She one day hopes to be able to add "multi-genre author" to her list of career titles. https://lnk.bio/rebeccarede

Bain de Soleil darling. Hawaiian Tropic. Panama Jack with Dark Rum gimme some. It's a beach party on the sand at TRAX. Or we're on the back patio w/cactus juice at The Pyramid #RVA dreaming of TRAX. Dreaming big fat nasty beats you can bite into. Bubblelicious, a burst of flavor with every beat. Booty-shakin, earthquakin' church rafters raisin' organ pounding, dancing in the aisles and on the ISLE. Revelation. Sexy stuff.
It's a dark and heavy episode. We have two big, heavy Norwegian imperial stouts this episode. Amundsen Dessert in a Can Coffee Coconut and Caramel Macaroon is what it says on the can. Coffee, coconut and caramel macaroons give this a sweet, delicious imperial stout incredible flavor and keep it from being way too sweet. Lervig Off the Rack is their premium stout series and they rarely disappoint. Australia Dark Rum 2021 is a blend of imperial stout with chocolate, vanilla and caramel with another stout to balance it out. It's then aged on dark rum barrels for 12 months to create a unique experiece that you'll want more than one bottle of.
This episode originally aired March 4, 2019. It was the decade of “The Macarena,” the O.J. Simpson trial, the teen pop boom, VHS tapes, and Nintendo. It was also before 9/11 and Columbine, a time when the nation hung on every lurid detail of the president's sex life and the Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan feud. Though 2000s nostalgia is on the way—as we discussed previously—it's hard to let go of our nostalgia for what looks like our last relatively innocent decade from here. Is there something extra special about the ‘90s? We discuss with guest host Sam Slaughter, author of the forthcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark Rum?: And Other Cocktails for ‘90s Kids.

What do the '90s taste like? If this is something you’ve been pondering, you’re in luck! Food and drink writer, Sam Slaughter, has captured the spirit of the decade in his cocktail book "Are You Afraid of the Dark Rum?: and Other Cocktails for '90s Kids" with delightful concoctions like "I'm too sexy for this grog" and "Pickelodeon." But successfully pulling off nostalgia takes more work than just clever puns and repeating old catch phrases. Sam talks with Kae Lani Palmisano about how much he had to study the decade and what he had to consider when making original cocktails that bring us back to the '90s. Welcome to ‘Live from the CodeBar', recorded from the code themed bar of Fenwood Manor. Let's take a minute to think about rum. It's highly possible that when you hear the word, a variety of different ideas come into your head. You might think of pirates, you might think of piña coladas, you might think of plantations. But let's put a pause on that because what Marc Farrell from Ten To One Rum wants to point out is that there is a lot more to rum than what marketers have told us. So as you understand what he means, and talk about why you should think about Ten To One for your home bar, I'm pleased to welcome Marc Farrell to the first of our podcasts for the new year.

Dark Rum. Cannabis. Peppermint. No, not the remnants of a hotel room Hunter S. Thompson just checked out of — these are some of the Hall of Fame scents slung by the chic and minimalist lifestyle brand Malin + Goetz. Peek into any shower in a 1BR in Chelsea and chances are you've seen a bottle of Malin + Goetz body products. Chances are you and your S.O. have fought over and then shared said body products, replenishing in equal measure, to keep the bottle count low and the suds plentiful. We talk to the eponymous founders about how and why they created a simple, elegant, and functional solution to bathroom clutter while elevating the entire concept of putting stuff on your body at all with the most invigorating and memorable scents. Molly Fisk's gritty, honest poem, "Dark Rum & Tonic," is about what you get when you finally grow up, when you get older, when you've been through the wreck and come out the other side. You get invisibility. And much more. You get the chance to talk to yourself. To see yourself. And to write yourself. Join me for a gorgeously crafted poem about the losses we face--and the human ways we survive.

On this episode, we discuss a 90s classic show that should make a comeback, Are You Afraid of the Dark? The episode is The Tale of the Room for Rent from season 4, episode 8 as told by JoAnna Garcia Swisher. So all you 90’s children grab a cocktail and reminisce the good ole days of dunk-a-roos, gushers, surge and slime. Drinking Game: Fog machine used to inspire fear in the audience. Apparently the scariest thing that had been invented in the early 90s was the fog machine. You could play this game using only this rule and get drunk after one well-chosen episode. Pseudo-celebrity sighting. Take two drinks for anyone for which this show was probably the height of their careers. Two drinks for kids that later appeared on Degrassi. Some examples: Bobcat Goldthwait (The Tale of the Final Wish), Melissa Joan Hart (The Tale of the Frozen Ghost), Neve Campbell (The Tale of the Dangerous Soup), Ryan Gosling (The Tale of Station 109.1), Tia and Tamera Mowry (The Tale of the Chameleons), Elisha Cuthbert (The Tale of the Night Shift), Hayden Christensen (The Tale of Bigfoot Ridge), Tara Lipinski (The Tale of the Lunar Locusts). Parenting mishaps. For all the kids left home alone, parents who don’t question odd behavior, and anything that remains questionable. Prepubescent hijinks. Usually found in the first five minutes of the episode before things get weird. Any sort of prank you would expect from your sixth-grade brother. Awkward moment between lovers. Drink twice for any implied sexual tension between parents, siblings, ghosts and the living, etc. Believe me, it’s there. Sardo or Dr. Vink. Drink twice any time Sardo says “No mister, accent on the ‘do’” which is almost always. When Dr. Vink is on screen, you must precede all drinks with “Drink to Vink!” otherwise drink twice. Audible Canadian accent. Aboot to the max. First appearance of villain. Integral to the plot. Drink. Bad 90’s haircut. Drink twice if you had a similar haircut growing up. Inappropriate emotional response. Far too often do these kids see killers or ghosts and respond as if they’ve recently had a frontal lobotomy. Cut to the campfire. In the middle of the story. Total buzzkill. Life lesson or obvious moral. Because Nickelodeon is a learning channel. In my researching for a cocktail, I have discovered a book all of you 90s kids might want to check out, its called Are You Afraid of the Dark Rum? And Other Cocktails for 90s Kids by Sam Slaughter. The books says is is a cocktail book with recipes for re-creating adult versions of your favorite 90s childhood drinks as well as original craft cocktails....and includes drinks like The Fresh Mint of Bel-Air, Mambo No. 5, The Slammer, and The Rossi and Rachel. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/linedrunk/support

Eat & Drink with Ali Hassan & Marco TimpanoComedians Ali Hassan & Marco Timpano, discuss, lament & come to terms with Food & Drink. They bring over a quarter century of restaurant experience to the podcast table. This weeks episode: Coconut Curry & Island CafeSocial Media:Twitter: @podcasteatdrinkInsta: @podcasteatdrinkemail: podcasteatdrink@gmail.comIsland CafeThis is a drink can be made in a variety of ways, the base of it is going to be coconut no matter how you slice it, otherwise it is not an Island Cafe. The important thing to remember is to check your coconut milk product, because it may not work for the diet or meal plan you may be following as we found out in the episode. So if you really want to get technical this coffee is going to be most similar to a Cortado.espresso shot or 2 depending on the day you are having.coconut milk 2 oz heated.coconut whipping cream --the kind you get in the spray can.Pour your coffee into a Demi-tasse (if you don't know what that is whatever the equivalent to one third of a regular coffee mug would be. If you live in a cave you can use a coffee mug in a pinch. Then pour in your warmed coconut milk. Followed by a bit of the coconut whipped cream. Onto of which you can grate nutmeg, or use desiccated coconut, or cinnamon.add a little glug of island liquor to this coffee drink and everything will be alright. Dark Rum would be my choice, even though Bailey's works well too. Ireland is an island right? However you top it up... enjoy!EGGPLANT COCONUT CURRYThere are so many curries, and so many ways to make them. If this arena mystifies you, always keep in mind that a curry is essentially a stew. With enough flavour to kick a stew's ass and rub its face in dirt. Here's a South Indian-Influenced curry for you...feel free to add mustard seeds and curry leaves if you have them, at the same point that you add the cumin seeds. Enjoy!Ingredients:3 tbsp cooking oil2 medium onions, chopped finely1/2 tsp cumin seeds, whole4 tsp pureed garlic & ginger (VIDEO for “GOG”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM66r1pL0sA&t=2s)1 tsp curry powder1 tsp cumin seeds, ground½ tsp chili powder or cayenne pepper1 large tomato, diced 1 can (12 oz.) coconut milk1 Japanese eggplant, cut into ½ cubes2 cups of cauliflower floretsoptional: 1 cup of chopped red bell pepper¼ fresh cilantro, choppedSalt, to tasteHeat ½ the oil in a large pot. Add the onions and fry over medium-high heat. As they begin to brown slightly, add the cumin seeds.Continue to fry for another few minutes, then add the curry powder, and garlic & ginger. Fry for 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes and salt, stir, cover and cook over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until the tomatoes start to separate from the oil. Taste for the right amount of seasoning and add more oil if necessary. Add the coconut milk, bring to a boil and add eggplants.Simmer for 5 minutes or until eggplant is softened, add cauliflower, cook for another few minutes (depending on how crunchy you would like them to remain) and then for the last two minutes of cooking, add the bell peppers. Stir in cilantro and serve over basmati rice.If you liked this episode: Rate, Review & Subscribe and tell your friends. If you didn't like it, there is a whole slog of podcasts out there for you to explore and enjoy and we hope you do! G.N.A. Podcast, Join Cecil, Zyberblood of Zyber Games, Dee from MicroBrew Gamerz, and Shadowfox of MorganBS Photography while we talk about the first video games we ever played and which ones left their mark. Cecil dumped half a glass of that rum on his keyboard and computer. This is why we can't have nice things. HumbleBundle tries to give us nice things, Blue was drinking a 3 Daughters Brewery Beach Blonde Ale, Zyber was partaking in a Pipeworks Cascade Imperial IPA n Kirk And Sweeney 18 year old rum, Shadow was having a Belhaven Brewery Scottish Ale, Dee was having some Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey, and Cecil was drinking some Pilar Papa's Dark Rum. but Cecil dumps it on his keyboard. Now that keyboard is just like the ship he sails in Sea of Thieves. In a watery grave. We also talk about Gabe Newelle. Well, Cecil goes on a rant about his name. We are pretty sure once this episode hits your stream that we are all going to have our steam accounts locked. Cecil may or may not be joining his keyboard if that happens. There was something about nintendo in there too.
