Today's episode of the podcast is all about intimacy, which I define as any form of deepened human connection between people that could fall into one or more of the following categories; emotional, energetic, intellectual, or physical. I'm talking beyond the 2-second second bro hug, handshake, or high five. I explore some fun ways you can deepen the practice of intimacy, like active listening, eye gazing, hugging, cuddling, and acroyoga. We tend to think of intimacy as happening between romantic partners, i.e sexual in nature. While intimacy has become euphemistic of sex, in reality it simply means any form of closeness. Extending the practice of intimacy beyond the confines of the monogamous romantic partnership, I think has the potential to be a healing influence in all of our lives. Related to my own experience, I aim to normalize intimacy between men. I know firsthand the power of giving and receiving genuine offerings of love between men. I share some moments like that, many of which I consider to be my some of my most profound intimate moments.
In today's episode, I break down the pros and cons of transience aka being nomadic. I tell stories about the period of my life where I didn't live somewhere longer than 3 months. I talk about alternative lifeways and ways to be nomadic with a purpose like WOOFing, Americorps, and bicycle touring. I philosophize, and idealize, and I also critique the system that doesn't introduce us as 18 year-olds to the possibilities outside of realm of institutional learning. This podcast is named the way it is for a reason and that's because LIVING IS LEARNING. Getting out into the world is the best way to learn both about the world and what we are really made of. It's not always easy, and I get real about some of the hard moments, but authentic experiences are invaluable to who we are becoming. Even if it doesn't on paper add any credentials to our life, how we navigate the world outside of our comfort zone will be what makes us stand out.
A quick New Year's Message. I Hope you enjoy today's episode.

I usually don't let good streams of consciousness go to waste. So I'm publishing a few voice memos I took recently as episode 4!Today I relay some insights I had during meditation. It was windy on the gorgeous trail I recorded this voice memo on, overlooking much of Los Angeles. I reflect on the overall state (or as I say in the episode, "personality") of the world. Then I give you another insight I had, at another time, about relationships and a good approach you can use to determine who is committed to you and who is not. And remember, both are fine. The same way we don't want to have no-one that is committed to us, we also don't want everybody to be committed to us. What we really want is to give and receive honesty about who is right for our lives and who is not. Or if it's not cut and dry like that (and it usually isn't) to what extent we want someone in our lives. And importantly, do the levels of wanting to be in each others lives match up with each other? Important stuff, let's go to the episode.
In today's episode I talk about what a mental state is, what an emotional state is, and the way that they relate to one another. I express my own gratitude and then explain how you can allow the emotional states of gratitude, pride, and receptivity to go the distance by practicing a positive neutral mindset. I hope you enjoy hearing about the learnings I've lived since the last episode. Thank you for listening.Let's go to the show.
