Attacks on voting rights got you down? Tired of feeling like you can't make a difference on a federal level? Have you considered focusing on… sex ed???Wait, hear us out! We talked to Jaclyn Friedman and Jenny Steadman from EducateUS this week and it turns out that comprehensive sex education has the power to change everything about our culture and our politics. There's a reason that authoritarian governments crack down on sex ed.It's not just about sex — in fact, in the younger grades, it's not about sex at all. Jaclyn encouraged us to imagine what our government would look like if every man in power was taught about consent and how to handle rejection from a young age. That's just one sex ed lesson that could change our country. It's also wildly popular, across all demographics and political parties. Not only do 75% of all Americans want sex ed in schools, that number remains at 72% even when they're specifically told that would include education and inclusion for transgender students.Extremist politicians and pundits want us to believe this is a divisive issue, but it's simply not.If you're not already a believer based on all of that, sex education is also an issue where you can make a serious difference in your community! A simple conversation with one of your school board members can have a huge impact. And EducateUS is making it even simpler by offering to reach out to your school board members for you! All you have to do is fill out this form.If you need more resources to help you talk about sex ed with the people in your life, the EducateUS website has tons of free resources.Happy Sex Ed For All Month! For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. You can learn a lot about a running community by the questions they ask, and this week our listeners showed up with everything from serious marathon nerves to wildly fun runDisney hypotheticals. We dig into smart offseason training so you do not drift between race weekends: setting a local goal race, building an aerobic base, adding strength and mobility, and respecting summer heat. We also get specific on proof of time strategy, including why certain distances help, what counts for different runDisney weekends, and how planning ahead can change your corral placement and your whole race-day experience. Then we jump into listener questions that are pure runDisney joy. We design dream Disney race courses with more time inside the parks, more Animal Kingdom and Pandora, a better Hollywood Studios stretch, and the return of that iconic World Showcase finish that feels like a true victory lap. We talk bucket list races outside of runDisney, bucket list moments inside Disney, and whether you should chase Dopey, Goofy, or “just the marathon” based on what you actually want your weekend to feel like. The mindset talk gets real when we answer how to calm first-time Dopey and first-time marathon anxiety. We lean on trust-the-process training, run-walk pacing, and practical mental tricks for hard miles and lonely long runs, including music, podcasts, community messages, and finding a group that supports interval runners. Plus, we debate the most important question of all: if you could replace gels with Disney snacks as on-course fuel, what would you pick?If you love runDisney, marathon training, and a community that celebrates every PR, every proof of time, and every finish, hit play. Send us a textWhat actually happens between mile 48 and mile 100, when your brain is tired, your stomach is bored of sugar, and the trail turns to cambered sand and black mud? We sat down with sisters Lyndsi and Kendell to unpack their first 100 miler at the Wolverine 100—how they trained, why they split mid-race, and the small choices that kept them moving when comfort vanished. We trace the leap from “maybe I could” to toeing the line: a postpartum return to running, a DNF that lit a fire, and a training approach built around consistency, fueling practice, and hiking early on the big climbs. You'll hear how they selected a point-to-point course for the mental boost, why generous cutoffs matter for first-timers, and how conservative pacing turned into late-race passes. Then we get into the real trail: the notorious dirt bike section with sand and mud that humbled everyone, the log bridge wobble, and that surreal late-night stretch where mailbox reflectors looked like eyes and coyotes sounded like a cheering crowd. The turning point arrives with pacers. Fresh legs and fresher minds brought structure—fuel every 30 minutes, short run-walk intervals, clear cues, and relentless encouragement. Aid stations became more than calories: a fruit cup that tasted like salvation, warm broth when sweets failed, and a disco stop that reset spirits. Family support threaded the day together—refills, tape, caffeine, and honest feedback. By mile 90, they were still running, still solving problems, and still discovering that the body goes farther than doubt allows. Finishing fourth and fifth female on debut wasn't the point; it was the proof. They crossed the line with a new baseline for hard, and a simple message for anyone on the fence: start before you feel ready, keep it simple, and let consistency carry you.If you're curious about ultramarathon strategy, fueling, pacers, and the mindset that turns discomfort into momentum, this one's your map. In this engaging conversation, Shelby and Courtney chat with runDisney lover Meghan Swope about her journey into running, particularly her experiences with completing her second Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World. They discuss the challenges of running in extreme weather (Florida sun!!), the importance of training, and the sense of community that comes with participating in races. Meghan shares her motivations for running, the significance of medals, and how her goals have evolved over time. The conversation highlights the joy and camaraderie found in the runDisney community, making it an inspiring listen for both seasoned runners and newcomers alike. In this conversation, Meghan Swope shares her journey through marathon training, emphasizing the discipline required and the balance between social life and running. She discusses her philosophy on training distances, the mental barriers runners face, and her experiences in international marathons. Meghan highlights the importance of community and support in achieving personal goals, encouraging others to embrace challenges and find their own paths in running and life.   Takeaways Meghan started running in 2012 after a bad breakup. The Dopey challenge includes running multiple races over a weekend. Extreme weather can significantly impact race conditions and outcomes. Training is crucial for building endurance and mental strength. Running events create a sense of community and celebration. Medals serve as tangible rewards for hard work and achievement. Motivation can fluctuate during training and races. The camaraderie among runners enhances the experience. Completing a race is a significant accomplishment, regardless of distance. Future goals can evolve based on experiences and themes of races. New York was the most disciplined I've ever been with training. I don't think you should ever go above 20 miles in training. Tapering is crucial before a marathon. Training for a marathon is like a part-time job. You have to commit to your training schedule. You can shift your long runs around social events. You hold yourself back more than circumstances do. Meeting new people during races can lead to great friendships. Fueling strategies can vary by country. It's important to enjoy the journey and the community.

“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (Philippians 3:14 NLT) New Year’s resolutions are funny things. We dream up grand lifestyle changes and tell ourselves “Ok, everything will be different on January 1st!” But the truth is, many of us adjust our New Year’s resolutions as time passes because we’re unable to keep them. Year after year, we get frustrated and discouraged by our lack of willpower, discipline, and commitment. But there’s a lesson in there that we must not miss. We don’t need a New Year’s resolution. We need a spiritual solution. The spiritual solution we need is found in Philippians 3:14: “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (NLT). In this passage, the apostle Paul helps us understand what our priorities should be. On more than one occasion, Paul used athletic metaphors to describe the Christian life. In this passage, he compares it to running a race. But we need to understand that the race is not a one-hundred-meter sprint. It’s a long-distance run. That’s why we must pace ourselves. In a long-distance race, there’s little significance in leading the field for, say, nine out of ten laps. What matters is the tenth lap. Whoever crosses the finish line first is the winner. Spiritually speaking, finishing strong involves being consistent. There are times in our relationship with Christ when everything seems to click—when our prayer life, Bible study, evangelism, and personal discipline are firing on all cylinders. With the wind at our back, we start to feel unbeatable. So, we alter our pace. We let pride dictate our strategy. And then we hit the wall, metaphorically speaking. We struggle to maintain any kind of pace. On top of that, we have a spiritual enemy who delights in turning our race into a hurdles event by throwing obstacles in our way. The good news is that the headwind, like the wind at our back, is temporary. We don’t have to face it long. The obstacles our enemy throws in our path need not affect us because we’re powered by the Holy Spirit. He gives us the stamina we need to stay the course. Our job is to stay focused on the race—to keep our eyes on the prize. We need to strive for spiritual consistency. If we want to win in the race of life, then we need to learn to pace ourselves. Reflection question: How can you pace yourself in your walk with Christ? Discuss Today's Devo in Harvest Discipleship! — The audio production of the podcast "Greg Laurie: Daily Devotions" utilizes Generative AI technology. Episode 211 of The Adventure Podcast features adventurer Ollie Treviso. Ollie recently completed a 14,000km, 20-month walk along the Andes, from Tierra del Fuego to the Caribbean Sea. In this episode, Ollie opens up about how far he's come - from a rugby-playing teenager abusing steroids and working as an insurance broker, to living in a cave in Gran Canaria, working on farms, and eventually discovering the power of slow, human-paced travel. Matt and Ollie explore his first long-distance walk across the UK, complete with an over-packed rucksack, no tent experience, and a rule never to pay for accommodation, and how these early stumbles laid the foundations for his South American journey. They also talk candidly about grief and loss, why walking feels most meaningful, resilience, identity, and the uneasy balance between adventure, ego, and storytelling. This conversation is longer than normal. But its honest, fun, and full of surprising side stories. What emerges is not just the tale of an epic trek, but an honest reflection on what drives someone to keep walking into the unknown. For extra insights from the worlds of adventure, exploration and the natural world, you can find The Adventure Podcast+ community on Substack.
