The Metal Priestesses , Elizabeth Galdamaz, Hear She Roars Blog, Genny Schorr, Marina Muhlfriedel and Jessie Jacobson from seminal L. A. punk band Backstage Pass, and Alejandra Villegas, Sangreal Records Detroit are honored to speak with guitarist Wes Beech from the legendary Plasmatics! In this tribute to Wendy O. Williams we strive to keep her spirit and legacy alive, Wes tells us all about how they met, what working with Wendy was like, and that awful night in Milwaukee. The Plasmatics were an American heavy metal band formed by Rod Swenson and Wendy O. Williams in New York City in 1978. They were a controversial group known for chaotic, destructive live shows and outrageous theatrics. This included chainsawing guitars, destroying speaker cabinets, sledgehammering television sets and blowing up automobiles live on stage. Williams was arrested in Milwaukee by the Milwaukee police before being charged with public indecency.Wendy sadly took her life in 1998, but we vow to keep her name and the music she created alive and may her legacy live on for all to be inspired by, including a new generation of women in rock and music lovers everywhere! Metal Priestesses , Elizabeth Galdamaz, Hear She Roars Blog and L.A. punk band Backstage Pass , Genny Schorr , Marina Muhlfriedel and Jessie Jacobson are honored to interview FANNY guitarist June Millington who founded the band along with her sister Jean Millington. Originally from the Philippines, the family immigrated to the United States in 1961 and the sisters face cultural differences and form a band in high school called The Svelts. In the interview, June speaks candidly about the struggles and pressure of being lead guitarist in one of the very first all-female rock ‘n roll bands to be signed to a major record label. Fanny joined worldwide tours opening up for some of the biggest bands of the 1970’s including Slade, Jethro Tull and Humble Pie. Fanny released four albums before disbanding in 1975, although June had left the group in 1973 due frustrations with the male dominated music industry and their lack of success. The group has continued to attract critical acclaim for their superior musicianship. Second wave female bands such as the Go Go’s, The Bangles and The Runaways have cited Fanny as a key influence and inspiration. “One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. ... Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done.”” - David Bowie in Rolling Stone, 1999 Follow : Fanny , the band https://fannyrocks.com/Follow, listen , subscribe to Metal Priestesses Podcast https://www.facebook.com/metalpriestesseshttps://metalpriestesses.buzzsprout.com/https://www.instagram.com/metalpriestessespodcast/https://twitter.com/MetalPriestess2https://youtube.com/channel/UCeZ0nPy3dx4Sk0US9tzkT9A
