I metalåret 1987 stod den på både heavy-hits og benhård metal: på den ene side poppet metalrock som Def Leppard og megasællerten “Hysteria”, og det nye Whitesnakes “1987” album. På den anden side hårdføre bands som de danske thrash-konger Artillery og dødsmetal-pionererne Death. Sat lidt på spidsen, selvfølgelig, for der var også de bands, som hverken var det ene eller det andet; eksempelvis Guns n' Roses og deres gedigne gennembruds-debutalbum “Appetite For Destruction” og King Diamonds fuldendte metalværk “Abigail”. Og så bød 1987 også på stor international opmærksomhed på andre danske og delvist danske bandprojekter som Pretty Maids, White Lion og Metallica. Metalåret 1987 gennemgås af Jens "Jam" Rasmussen, studievært, og det faste og fornemme triumvirat af studiegæsterne Steffen Jungersen, Michael Stützer Hansen og Michael Denner. Nedslagspunkter: - Det hårdt rockende metalår 1987 må nødvendigvis bydes velkommen af Guns N' Roses og “Welcome To the Jungle”. Samme Motörhead, som sprængte samtlige volumeskalaer ved deres koncertbesøg. - Jungersen, Stützer og Rasmussen tager den decibel-blæsende tur tilbage til legendariske Saga i 1987. København, hvor også Manowar skruede op. - Vi fortsætter til Sagas genbo og “lillebror” Carlton, hvor studieværten headbanger ind i sin makkers hoved til showet med Helloween, Running Wild og Overkill, og rammes af en stagedivers militærstøvler til showet med Artillery og Destruction samme sted. YEAH! - Michael Stützer fokuserer mest på sit guitarspil og sit band, hvilket resulterer i det andet Artillery album, “Terror Squad”, som fører an i den europæiske thrash metal-liga sammen med Kreator og førnævnte Destruction. - I januar ‘87 genoptager Metallica deres Europa-turné. Først i Falkoner Teatret, København, og dagen efter i Holstebro Hallen. Senere på året udkommer bandets første indspilning med bassisten Jason Newsted, cover-EP'en "Garage Days The 5,98 Dollar EP". - Fuld smæk på Bay Area-scenen, hvor Exodus udsender album nr. 2 “Pleasures of the Flesh”, Testament deres debutalbum "The Legacy" og Death Angel deres debut “The Ultra-Violence”. Sidstnævnte med en chokerende optræden på hovedscenen på årets Roskilde Festival. - På østkysten rykker Anthrax med “Among The Living”, og der tærskes løs fra Brasilien til Birmingham. Fra Sepultura til Napalm Death. Og i Tampa Bay, Florida udsender Death deres genredefinerende debut “Scream Bloody Gore”. - Michael Denner dukker op i studiet, hvor han og Jungersen tager pulsen på årets danske/dansk-relaterede udspil fra White Lion, Pretty Maids og Denners eget King Diamond, der udsender deres episke hovedværk “Abigail”. Pearls The current iteration of heart allocation listing is based on priority, with status 1 being the highest priority.  The are multiple donor and recipient characteristics to consider when listing a patient for heart transplantation and accepting a heart offer.  Desensitization is an option for patients who need heart transplantation but are highly sensitized.  Protocols vary by center.  Acceptance of DCD hearts is one of many efforts to expand the donor pool   Notes Notes: Notes drafted by Dr. Rachel Goodman  Once a patient is determined to be a candidate for heart transplantation, how is priority determined?  The current iteration of heart listing statuses was implemented in 2018.  Priority is determined by acuity, with higher statuses indicating higher acuity and given higher priority.  Status 1 is the highest priority status, and Status 7 is inactive patients. (1,2)  What criteria should be considered in organ selection when listing a patient for heart transplant?  Once it is determined that a patient will be listed for heart transplantation, there are certain criteria that should be assessed.  These factors may impact pre-transplant care and/or donor matching (3).  (1) PVR  (2) Height/weight   (3) Milage listing criteria  (4) Blood typing/cPRA/HLA typing  What is desensitization and why would it be considered?  Desensitization is an attempt to reduce or remove anti-HLA antibodies in the recipient.  It is done to increase the donor pool.  In general, desensitization is reserved for patients who are highly sensitized.  Desensitization protocols vary by transplant center, and some may opt against it.  When considering desensitization, it is important to note two key things: first, there is no promise that it will work, and second desensitization involves the use of immunosuppressive agents, thereby putting patients at increased risk of infection and cytopenia. (4)  Can you explain DCD and DBD transplant?  DBD: donor that have met the requirements for legal definition of brain death.   DCD: donors that have not met the legal definition of brain death but have been determined to have circulatory death.  Because the brain death criteria have not been met, organ recovery can only take place once death is confirmed based on cessation of circulatory and respiratory function. Life support is only withdrawn following declaration of circulatory death—once the heart has stopped beating and spontaneous respirations have stopped. Ahhhhh la résilience. Mot tellement « à la mode » actuellement. Commençons par la définition du dictionnaire. Selon le Larousse, voici la définition de la résilience : Aptitude d'un individu à se construire et à vivre de manière satisfaisante en dépit de circonstances traumatiques. Bon… la définition est claire : quoi qu'il arrive, quelqu'un de résilient ne se laisse pas abattre, quoi qu'il arrive. Cette définition me fait penser à un proverbe japonais que j'ai toujours aimé d'ailleurs : le succès, c'est de tomber 7 fois et de se relever 8. Oui, ok… ça c'est la théorie mais concrètement, comment faire quand les raisons d'avoir le moral dans les chaussettes se multiplient dans notre vie ? Entre la pandémie qui n'en finit plus, la peur du chômage pour certain.e.s, certains politiques qui nous expliquent que la fin du monde est proche ou que la France est devenu un pays en déclin, l'hiver qui fait que l'on a le sentiment de vivre la nuit… oui, il y a de quoi baisser les bras. Dans ma vie, comme beaucoup d'entre vous, j'ai connu la maladie sérieuse, le chômage, les peines de cœurs, la perte de proches, les échecs, le 17 mars 2020, mon métier de conférencier en présentiel (ma source principale de revenus) a disparu du jour au lendemain… et pourtant, rien de tout cela ne m'a abattu. Question de nature ? Peut-être, mais je n'y crois pas beaucoup, d'où cet épisode. Je pense que la résilience est quelque chose que l'on peut acquérir en changeant son regard sur les choses, et c'est cela que je souhaite partager avec vous. Question #1 is how physical will they be up front, because Cincy has a brawler. Will they try three bigs? 4. USC After Review starts around 1:00 PM I had three RPS-3s, two for screens and one for the Power after the 3rd & 26 and TD, which were both Power, when Wink ran an exotic that had no chance against Power. If they can cut out half of their shit and get their best players (read: seniors like TJ Guy) on the field, they should be able to get righted. Offensively it was a better performance than 13 points. There weren't that many drives, and Bryce struggled. His passes might be flat because he's getting sped up (Gardner has been in that position). Marshall missed two big cuts that Haynes makes. OL was okay; El-Hadi's return wasn't great, there were some mistakes from Guarnera, but USC's defense didn't ask Sprague to do too much and he did well, and Link had MAs but wasn't straight-up beat. This is how I found I had missed the group discovering a new genre/EP called Michigan Fuzz Punk by Rawhide, a two-piece (Ellen Cope and Jacob Bloom) Michigan band formerly known as Girl Fight. What I know about them comes from this column. The EP is pay what you may ($13.10 is fair). Anyway this is me talking about Michigan Fuzz Punk, which is both an excellent description of the genre and the EP's title. I am a total tourist in this genre so I'll refrain from talking about it like I know shit about shit, except I'm super intrigued to see what this is actually like live since the recordings only hint at it. I'll say the song Reach Me kicks and it's hilarious that "Greta is a Punk" and "Paige's Song" are the same song.
