Heute geht es um eines der besten Alben der Rockgeschichte. Man müsste jetzt hinzufügen: Von dem niemand weiß; was natürlich nicht stimmt, denn der Underground kennt seine Perlen. Die heute legendäre Hardrockband T2 wurde Ende 1969 von Schlagzeuger Peter Dunton gegründet, nachdem er bei The Gun gespielt hatte, die ihr sicherlich durch ihr legendäres "Race with the Devil" kennt, das ganz prominent unter anderem von Girlschool gecovert wurde. Zusammen mit Keith Cross (Gitarre und Keyboards) und Bernard Jinks (Bass) war die Band komplett und sie begann sofort damit, das Londoner Westend zu bespielen. Gleich ihr dritter Auftritt in einem der Clubs war ausverkauft und die Produzenten von vier großen Plattenfirmen und drei Fernseh- und Radioanstalten waren da, um sie zu sehen. Dies führte zu einem Plattenvertrag mit Decca Records, der Veröffentlichung von "It'll All Work Out In Boomland" und mehreren Fernseh- und Radioauftritten im Jahr 1970. Back in 2014, Night Demon recorded a cover version of the NWOBHM classic "Axe Crazy," by the band Jaguar.  This week's episode takes a deep dive into that song.  Jaguar guitarist and founding member Garry Pepperd chronicles the formation of the band and explains how "Axe Crazy" came about and why it was released as a single rather than on a proper album.  The Night Demon band members describe how they came to be aware of Jaguar and "Axe Crazy," and talk about their reasons for recording it and how it became a staple in their live set for several years.  You will also hear from Jarvis and Garry about the brief period when Jarvis became the lead vocalist for Jaguar, and the handful of shows he performed with them.  The guys reflect on the enduring appeal of the song and the reasons why it will never truly be retired from the Night Demon set.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. Nada Alic is a writer in Los Angeles. Her debut story collection BAD THOUGHTS is out July 12, 2022 (Vintage). From 2014-2016 she collaborated with artist, Andrea Nakhla on an art and fiction book series called “Future You,” featured in Urban Outfitters, Cool Hunting, The Rumpus and elsewhere. In 2019, her short story, “The Intruder” was shortlisted for the CBC Short Story Prize. That summer, Nada attended the Banff Centre for the Arts writing residency. In 2020, She received a literary grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. Previously, Nada was an editorial director and community manager for brands such as Etsy, Society6, Gap Inc and Athleta. For nearly a decade, she championed independent artists by creating opportunities to help them grow.
