Speed reading might sound impressive, but research shows that slowing down can actually improve comprehension, retention, and enjoyment. In this opening segment, we explore why reading at a slower pace could be the real key to getting the most out of your books and articles. https://www.bustle.com/p/7-reasons-slow-reading-is-actually-a-good-thing-because-being-a-speed-reader-is-overrated-73092 On average, people juggle about 22 goals at any given time — but chasing all of them often leads to frustration and burnout. My guest, Jon Acuff, bestselling speaker and author of nine books, including All It Takes is a Goal (https://amzn.to/3PtSiOF), shares a fresh, motivating approach to goal setting. Learn how to identify the goals that truly matter, let go of the ones that don't, and build momentum toward the ones that can change your life. “It's raining cats and dogs,” “go cold turkey,” “know the ropes” — we say these things all the time, but rarely stop to ask where they originated. Caroline Taggart, longtime publishing professional and author of Humble Pie and Cold Turkey: English Expressions and Their Origins (https://amzn.to/3ZazBTw), takes us on a fun journey into the surprising and sometimes bizarre backstories of the phrases we use every day. Winning arguments isn't easy — but there's one simple strategy that dramatically improves your chances. In this closing segment, I share the key insight from Mike Nichols, author of The Lost Art of Listening (https://amzn.to/3ErzkSy), that can help you argue smarter, connect better, and maybe even change a few minds. Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton will perform “Baby, I Love Your Way” on “Conan” February 29. The performance celebrates the forthcoming release of his new album Acoustic Classics, due February 26 via RED Distribution. In addition, a new live video of Frampton performing the song with longtime collaborator Gordon Kennedy is premiering on The Huffington Post today [insert link]. For the first time ever, Frampton brings us stripped-down versions of his classic hits including “Lines On My Face,” “Do You Feel Like I Do,” “Show Me The Way” and more. Acoustic Classics also includes one new song, “All Down to Me,” which was co-written by Kennedy, who also co-produced Frampton's Grammy Award-winning album Fingerprints. “All Down to Me” is also the only track on the record that features a guest musician. See below for full track listing. The new album was mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Jeff Balding (Don Henley, Lionel Richie, Joe Cocker) and produced by Frampton himself. Of the recording process, Frampton explains, “The approach I took on this was that each song came across as if you are the first person to hear this song after I wrote it. I had to reverse engineer each song in order to get this result, which I feel I achieved.”Acoustic Classics is available for pre-order now and a special pre-order bundle is being offered exclusively on www.frampton.com, which includes the album, a pick set and signed lyric sheet. Frampton will also perform on DirecTV and AT&T's new weekly music program, the Audience Network, March 4. The programming will be available to both subscribers of DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse and the two platforms' mobile apps. Moreover, Frampton has extended his “Peter Frampton Raw, An Acoustic Tour” with more dates next month. Kennedy will join him again for the March run along with Frampton's son, singer and guitarist Julian Frampton. Peter Frampton remains one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history. At 16, he was lead singer and guitarist for British band the Herd. At 18, he co-founded one of the first super groups, seminal rock act Humble Pie. His session work includes collaborations with such legendary artists as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ringo Starr, John Entwistle and many others. His fifth solo album, the electrifying Frampton Comes Alive! is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and remains one of the top-selling live records of all time. Humble Pie is often overshadowed by bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Queen, but they were a considered a "supergroup" when they formed in 1969-- fronted by Steve Marriott from the Small Faces and Peter Frampton from The Herd. Their first 2 albums are a mixed bag, but by the time they signed with A&M Records in 1970 they had refined their style down to a bluesy, hard-rockin' sound. Rock On (1971) was their most successful album to date and features "Stone Cold Fever", which is itself a stone cold classic. Humble pie is best served hot—with a side of audacity—and often laced with jealousy or moral superiority. Frankly, I do not want a slice!! The truth? To the insecure, confidence looks like pride, and insecurity masquerades as humility. But real humility isn't thinking less of yourself—it's thinking of others more. Biblically, it's about valuing others above yourself, not denying your worth or shrinking your gifts. Confidence should never be mistaken for Pride. Unlike Pride it doesn't compare or lord itself over others; it simply walks with its head held high. True humility serves—without pretending to be small. So come, let's talk about the times I was served humble pie and why I have chosen to handle it like Barbie!

He dives deep into why he shouldn't have bought into Brian Niccol's java-flavored Kool-Aid hook, line, and sinker, and what the data now reveals about wait times, ceramic mugs, and sustainable change versus short-term execution. To view the reference article on Placer.ai's Anchor, head hereThis episode is brought to you by:Retail Club - The new event from the founders of Shop Talk. You already know about Peter Frampton's use of the Talk Box and the wild success of Frampton Comes Alive. On this episode of 100 Guitarists, we're celebrating those things, but we're also getting into all the stuff that made Frampton so great, from Humble Pie to his Simpsons cameo. His smashing success often overshadows some of the other fun facts about his life, like how he once played in a band managed by Bill Wyman, or his long friendship—and musical collaboration—with David Bowie. Our very own Jason Shadrick tells the story of the time he played Frampton's famous Les Paul and how that guitar got its very own standing ovation.Sponsored by L.R. Fourteen years of food rationing came to an end in Britain on 4th July, 1954, when restrictions on the sale and purchase of meat and bacon were lifted - and we're running this episode today as part of the 80th anniversary of VE Day that Europe is celebrating this week. Members of the London Housewives' Association held a special ceremony in London's Trafalgar Square to mark Derationing Day. Meanwhile, The Minister of Fuel and Power, Geoffrey Lloyd, burned a large replica of a ration book. Rationing had been introduced due to difficulties importing food to Britain by boat during the war, but also affected the supply of clothes, furniture and fuel. During the war, the Ministry of Food urged the British people to grow their own veg to play their part in defeating the Germans. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly consider the merits of a ‘mock' fish and chips recipe; examine how the Conservatives used this ‘Victory Day for Housewives' to score a political point of the previous Labour government; and reveal how to avoid ‘Humble Pie with Hitler'... We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2020 conversation with Peter Frampton. ABOUT THIS BONUS EPISODEThe exceedingly generous and gentlemanly Peter Frampton talks about David Bowie giving him his very first job; Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones getting him into a recording studio for the first time; stumbling into session work thanks to George Harrison; writing two massive hits in the same day; how the loneliness of stratospheric success impacted his songwriting; and the inside stories of classics such as "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," "Do You Feel Like We Do," "I'm in You," and many more.

Few names carry the weight of Danny Marks in the Canadian blues and roots scene. From his early days as a founding member of Edward Bear, opening for the likes of Led Zeppelin and Humble Pie, to his decades as a torchbearer of the blues with BLUZ FM and beyond, Marks has remained a perennial …
We think if we just try harder, think more, or help more, things will work out. But the truth is—we can't control much. I've had to learn that over and over again. Even with good intentions, even when I do everything “right,” things don't go the way I thought they would. We believe we're in control of ourselves, of others, of the world. But real life doesn't work that way. It's messy, uncertain, and full of unexpected outcomes. Most of what we think we understand—especially as academics—is squishy. We explain 10%, but 90% is unexplained. So I've learned to step back. Stay in my tiny world. Be humble. Walk forward anyway. Even if I look like the bumbling fool, I get back up and keep going. That's the best we can do—accept the world as it is, and keep showing up.

Will SMU's inclusion in the playoff get Dan and Mike to stop talking about SEC bias over and over again? How do college coaches handle going to the playoff while the transfer portal opens? What ingredients go into a humble pie? Plus, Taylor has an exclusive report on Bill Belichick and the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina. We're serious. Taylor has sources.
