When we label food as good or bad, we are potentially destroying our relationship with food. In extreme situations, we can become afraid of food. This can lead to eating disorders and we can really do ourselves harm. Also, if we label food as bad, we can feel guilty or shameful when we eat that food. Food is not good or bad. It is food. There will be some foods that cause us to feel better physically, therefore serving us well. And there will be foods we decide to stay away from due to the food causing us not to feel so great. That food will be individual to the person. What works for one's body may not work for another. Don't get caught up in what you can and can't have. Decide what foods cause you to feel your best and eat more of those. And if you decide to eat a food that you know isn't going to cause you to feel your best, it's ok. Don't beat yourself up. Learn from it and move on.

We can easily get caught up in our feelings. Specifically, when it comes to the scale. We have an episode all about the scale. In this episode, we go beyond the scale. You're not always going to be motivated. You've got to have discipline. Your default mode has to be discipline and determination followed by action. Tracking the data - your weight, your food, your hormones, etc. - will help you to have all the facts, aka data, on you. When you have the facts, it will help you to be educated and have more understanding about yourself. When you have the data, you can take that information and set forth a plan of action to change what you are doing if what you are doing is not working for you. You are more likely to respond in action rather than react with emotion if you are not reaching your goals.

Are you obsessed with health and fitness? Is that a bad thing? Society, these days, would like to make you feel like an eating disorder contributor IF you track your calories and macros. They are trying to give a message that, if you are working out consistently and have gained a lean toned body - then you must be obsessed. Are there those who are obsessing over food, the scale, the muscle, and the physique? Yes. However, there are also those who are in this for the health of it. They track because they want to get and stay healthy and not become obese and unhealthy. They lift because they want to be strong and contribute to living a longer and thriving life. There is a balance, friends. There is always a balance. Finding that balance changes it all. Instead of obsessing, find structure.

When you like, follow and save something - over time - whatever the theme is that you are attracted to is suggested to you more and more. So if you're seeing negativity on social media - change your environment. If you are following influencers who, by watching their lives, cause you to feel bad about your life - stop following them. There is good, bad and ugly on social media...just like in the every day world around us. It can take a toll on us if we aren't smart consumers. There is also a lot of fakestagram happening. Being aware will help you to stop coveting the "perfect" ones you're seeing out there. Also - remember that just because someone isn't sharing everything about their lives does NOT mean they are fake. There is a such thing as over sharing - which Ashley and Molly get into. Molly was an open book - over sharing everything - for most of her life. Well, almost everything. Not the dirty little secrets she didn't want anyone to know. Ashley helps Molly understand, like no therapist has before, why she did that for so long. Not because Ashley's a therapist, but because Ashley was the same way. (The ladies never speak from a place of expertise. Only experience. Today's episode is no exception. While they do get into the psychology of it, they are not giving medical/professional advice. Have you heard these opinions swimming out there on social media and internet articles? We sure have. It amazes us how much hate Keto gets from so many folks - who likely aren't even educated or experienced in keto to even be qualified to give the advice they are giving. Yes there are loads of opinions out there. And here's one of ours - personal experience speaks volumes over book knowledge. When it comes to weight loss - it is NOT a one size fits all answer. If you want to learn more about Keto, go to someone who has studied keto. Don't listen to those who make their (strong) opinions based on their limited understanding. Devoting yourself to yourself on a daily basis is what accountability truly is. It is taking ownership of what it is that you are working toward. Tracking your data, as in, weighing yourself and tracking your activity is one way of holding yourself accountable and studies have shown that it gives you a greater chance of success in losing weight. Another form of accountability is sharing your journey with others. Be it in your day to day life with an accountability partner, or having an online community to help you hold yourself accountable. Between the two of us, we have lost over 130 lbs but we discuss how this way of living has brought us so much more than weight loss. We are both living the keto life and will share plenty on the subject.. however as the name says - we are more than just keto. We discuss keto in a way that perhaps you haven't heard before.
