What if you've been told you need both radiation and anti-estrogen therapy after breast cancer surgery, but the evidence suggests one treatment might be enough? Many women over 60 with early-stage, estrogen-positive breast cancer find themselves navigating a confusing treatment landscape. Different specialists may recommend different therapies without clearly explaining whether all of them are necessary. Dr. Katie Deming draws on her 20 years as a board-certified radiation oncologist to break down decades of research that challenge the idea that more treatment is always better. Now practicing integrative oncology, she understands the science behind standard treatment protocols and also recognizes how these decisions affect real life. Her experience inside the conventional medical system gives her the insight to question current practices while still honoring the research that supports more personalized approaches.Dr. Katie addresses a critical issue many women face: being prescribed multiple treatments without knowing if both are needed. She walks you through key studies like CALGB 9343 and PRIME II in simple terms. She explains what recurrence rate may be acceptable for some women, especially when compared to the long-term side effects of hormone therapy. She also explores how radiation, while more intensive in the short term, might be a better option for those who prefer a time-limited treatment.Listen, learn, and you understand your options so you can make choices that align with your values and quality of life.Download - Navigating Breast Cancer After 60 guide: https://www.katiedeming.com/breast-cancer-guide/Save your spot for the next LIVE fasting call here: https://www.katiedeming.com/the-healing-power-of-fasting/ Don't Face Cancer Alone"The 6 Pillars of Healing Cancer" workshop series provides you valuable insights and strategies to support your healing journey - Click Here to Enroll MORE FROM KATIE DEMING M.D. Save your spot for the next LIVE fasting call here: https://www.katiedeming.com/the-healing-power-of-fasting/ Work with Dr. Katie: www.katiedeming.comEmail: INFO@KATIEDEMING.COM 6 Pillars of Healing Cancer Workshop Series - Click Here to Enroll Follow Dr. Katie Deming on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katiedemingmd/ Please Support the Show Share this episode with a friend or family member Give a Review on Spotify Give a Review on Apple Podcast DISCLAIMER: The Born to Heal Podcast is intended for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for seeking professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Tara dives deep into the GOP's internal battle over Trump's massive immigration bill, exposing how Republican “open borders globalists” like John Thune and Lindsey Graham are working behind the scenes to sabotage it with budget-busting “poison pills.” She lays out how the Bush-era donor machine still controls many Republicans—funding primary challengers to keep amnesty and mass immigration alive. As Thune hides behind a Senate parliamentarian (installed by Harry Reid) to justify Medicaid for 1.4 million illegals, Tara warns it's all designed to tank Trump's agenda and preserve the status quo. Meanwhile, Elon Musk is threatening to bankroll primary challengers against any GOP members who vote to keep the border open, triggering Trump to lash out and deflect. Tara also interviews South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, now running for governor, who vows to follow Ron DeSantis' lead by deputizing every state law enforcement officer to remove criminal illegals and to eliminate South Carolina's income tax. With a looming $60 trillion national debt and an internal war between MAGA populists and establishment Republicans, she says the stakes couldn't be higher: either the border is secured—or the country goes bankrupt.

Story at-a-glance Both insomnia and sleep medication use independently increase disability risk in older adults, affecting basic activities like dressing, bathing and walking Research tracking 6,722 older adults found that even mild increases in sleep troubles predicted greater physical disability in the following year Using sleep medications worsened disability outcomes rather than improving them, with the combination of insomnia plus medication causing the steepest decline Complete darkness during sleep is important, as even small amounts of light disrupt melatonin production and interfere with your body's natural sleep signals Nondrug approaches like eliminating electromagnetic field (EMF) sources, avoiding blue light after sunset and regular daytime movement provide safer alternatives to sleep medications

This episode is deeply personal to me. Not only as a therapist and podcast host—but as a mom to a 19-year-old son and a 17-year-old daughter.I'm acutely aware that most young people—and many parents—don't realize the deadly risks of purchasing medication online without a prescription. Counterfeit pills are now deliberately designed to look exactly like legitimate prescription opioids. But what's inside is far more dangerous than most people know. This week on the Cracking Open podcast, I have the immense honor of speaking with Ed and Mary Ternan, founders of the nonprofit Song for Charlie. After losing their son Charlie to a counterfeit Percocet pill laced with illicit fentanyl, Ed and Mary transformed unimaginable grief into purposeful action. Instead of only placing blame on social media platforms where these pills are sold, they chose to lead with education and empathy—working to save other families from the same heartbreak.✨ Their mission is clear: to warn young people—especially those ages 13–24—about the danger of fake pills purchased online. ✨ Their message is urgent: even one pill can be fatal. ✨ Their approach is powerful: reaching youth with messaging that actually resonates with their generation. In this conversation, Ed and Mary bravely share the story of losing their beloved Charlie and the ripple effects that tragedy had on their family, their faith, and their purpose.Through Song for Charlie, they've become fierce advocates for awareness, prevention, and healing. And through their love for Charlie—and for every child who may still be saved—they are making a difference. This is a story of heartbreak. But it's also a story of hope.

Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, The arrest and prosecution. Special Episode. In the ongoing battle against America's opioid epidemic, few cases have rocked the justice system as hard as the arrest and prosecution of Dr. Stan Xuhui Li, one of the deadliest pill-pushing doctors in U.S. history. At the heart of this historic case was former New York County Assistant District Attorney Charlotte Bismuth, whose relentless pursuit of justice helped bring down a man who had been exploiting the medical profession for profit, at the cost of human lives. This episode of The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast now streaming on for free on their website, in addition to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major social podcast platforms. “It wasn't just about illegal prescriptions,” said Bismuth. “This was about a doctor in America, pushing addictive pills for cash, fully aware his patients were dying.” The episode is also promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other platforms. The Start of a Historic Case In 2010, Bismuth, a young assistant district attorney, had just joined the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (OSNP) in New York City. That same year, a whistleblower's tip exposed suspicious activity at a Queens pain clinic run by Dr. S. Li. What followed was a sprawling investigation that would stretch over four years. Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, The arrest and prosecution. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . Bismuth, alongside a Senior Investigator and another Special Assistant DA, worked tirelessly to trace the damage caused by Li's clinic. According to investigators, Dr. Li was seeing over 70 patients a day, mostly on Saturdays, and trading prescriptions for cash. He routinely prescribed powerful opioids like oxycodone and anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax with little to no medical evaluation. Even when warned by emergency room doctors and families that his patients were dying, Dr. Li refused to stop. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. “We had evidence that patients were overdosing, yet the prescriptions continued,” Bismuth shared in an episode of her podcast, now available on Apple, Spotify, and other platforms. “The public deserved accountability. These were real lives lost to greed.” Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, the arrest and prosecution. The investigation culminated in Dr. Li's arrest in November 2011. Over the next three years, Bismuth and her team built a case that would change legal precedent. In 2014, after a grueling four-month trial, a Manhattan jury found Dr. Li guilty on 198 counts, including Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Sale of a Prescription for a Controlled Substance. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The court heard that Li was responsible for recklessly causing the deaths of at least two patients and endangering several more. He had even prescribed 24 different prescriptions to the man behind the infamous Medford pharmacy massacre. Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan called the case a “landmark conviction.” It was the first time a doctor in New York State had been held criminally liable for overdose deaths stemming from prescription drugs. You can listen to his stories and interview on our website for free in addition to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. A Voice for Justice After the trial, Bismuth continued her advocacy. She was named Director of Training for the OSNP, where she emphasized ethics, family-work balance, and respect within the legal profession. In 2015, she stepped away from law to spend time with her family and to write the full story of the case. Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, The arrest and prosecution. Her acclaimed book, Bad Medicine: Catching New York's Deadliest Pill Pusher, dives deep into the trial and the human cost of the opioid crisis. A second book, Killer in a White Coat, further explores the systemic failures that allowed him to operate for years. The full podcast episode is streaming now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. “Writing the book was painful, but necessary,” Bismuth said in an interview shared across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. “This is about accountability. About telling the truth. About never forgetting the victims.” She donates a portion of her book proceeds to the FedUp! Coalition, and continues to speak out about the opioid epidemic, sharing her story through news media and podcast appearances. A Wake-Up Call for the Medical World, Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, The arrest and prosecution. Listen to her full interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website for free, also on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or most major podcast platforms. Dr. Li's case is more than just a cautionary tale, it's a spotlight on how the healthcare system can be manipulated by those who abuse its trust. Charlotte Bismuth's dogged pursuit of justice reminds us that one doctor in America pushing addictive pills can destroy countless lives, and that prosecution is sometimes the only way to stop the damage. “Justice took years. But we owed it to the victims and their families,” Bismuth said. “We cannot allow the white coat to shield criminal behavior.” Dr. Li died in prison in April 2020, serving a sentence for crimes that shocked New York and made headlines across the nation. His case remains a stark reminder of the consequences when medicine turns deadly. Doctor in America, pushing addictive pills, The arrest and prosecution. In Episode 125 of The Liberty Den, a raucous crew of Badlands Media hosts dive into the chaos of the week with their signature unfiltered flair. Kicking things off, Ashe in America calls in with an on-the-ground update from the Lindell v. Coomer trial, detailing dramatic courtroom moments, shifting narratives, and what the media won't report about the case's implications for election integrity. From there, the conversation erupts into the fallout over Trump's ICE raids in Los Angeles, Kamala Harris's Juneteenth optics disaster, and Simone Biles' unexpected cameo in the culture war. The hosts debate whether the unrest in L.A. is a spontaneous crisis or a carefully set trap, while also unpacking RFK Jr.'s latest moves, viral psyops, and the slow implosion of institutional credibility. It's a full-spectrum freedom brawl, served up with fire, humor, and zero filter, classic Liberty Den.

The global market for obesity drugs is expanding. Our U.S. Pharma and Biotech Analyst Terrence Flynn discusses what's driving the next stage of global growth for GLP-1 medicines.Read more insights from Morgan Stanley.----- Transcript -----Terrence Flynn: Welcome to Thoughts on the Market. I'm Terrence Flynn, Morgan Stanley's U.S. Pharma and Biotech Analyst. The market for obesity medicines is at an inflection point, and today I'll focus on what's driving the next stage of global growth. It's Thursday, June 5th at 2pm in New York.GLP-1 medicines have been viewed by many stakeholders as one of the most transformative medications in the market today. They've exploded in popularity over the last few years and become game changers for many people who take them. These drugs have large cap biopharma companies racing to innovate. They've had ripple effects on food, fitness, and fashion. They truly are a major market force. And now we're on the cusp of a significant broadening of use of these medicines.Currently the U.S. is the largest consumer in the world of GLP-1s. But new versions of these medicines suggest that this market will extend beyond the U.S. to significantly larger numbers of patients globally. On our estimate, the Total Addressable Market or TAM for obesity medications should reach $150 billion globally by 2035, with approximately [$]80 billion from the U.S. and [$]70 billion from international markets. Now this marks a meaningful increase from our 2024 forecast of [$]105 billion and reflects a greater appreciation of opportunities outside of the U.S. We think obesity drug adoption will likely accelerate as patients and providers become more familiar with the new products and as manufacturers address hurdles in production, distribution, and access.Current adoption rates of GLP-1 treatments within the eligible obesity population are about 2 to 3 percent. This is in the U.S., and roughly 1 percent in the rest of the world. Now, when we look out further, we anticipate these figures to surge to 20 percent and 10 percent respectively, really driven by five things.First, after a period of shortages, supply constraints have improved, and the drug makers are investing aggressively to increase production. Second new data show that obesity drugs have broader clinical applications. They can be used to treat coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, kidney disease, or even sleep apnea. They could also potentially fight Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric conditions, and even cancer.Third, we think coverage will expand as obesity drugs are approved to treat diseases beyond obesity. Public healthcare coverage through Medicare should also broaden based on these expected approvals. Fourth, some drug makers are successfully developing obesity drugs, in pill form instead of injectables. Pills are of course easier to administer and can reach global scale quickly. And finally, drug makers are also developing next gen medications with even higher efficacy, new mechanisms of action, and more convenient, less frequent dosing. All in all, we think that over the next decade, broader GLP-1 adoption will extend well beyond biopharma. We expect significant impacts on medical technology, healthcare services, and consumer sectors like food, beverages, and fashion, where changes in patient diets could reshape market dynamics. Thanks so much for listening. If you enjoy the show, please leave us a review wherever you listen. And share Thoughts on the Market with a friend or colleague today.

Join DiscourseNutrition tips, training insight, performance debates, sports opinions — if you're into it, we're talking about it. Become part of the “Science of Sport” Discourse community via Patreon.Show notesThis week on Spotlight, we take a tour through some of the big stories in sport and sports science right now—from race tactics and concussion protocols to doping ethics, expert credibility, and how we identify and develop talent. We start with a lively discussion on the Giro d'Italia and that gravel stage. Was it thrilling unpredictability—or dangerous chaos? As the General Classification gets a dramatic shake-up, we debate whether the pursuit of entertainment justifies what some see as random, unfair risk and compromised race integrity. Do stages like this belong in a Grand Tour, or are they an unwelcome injection of chance into a sport built on precision and control? From there, we shift to cycling's ongoing concussion challenges. Jonas Vingegaard's recent comments compel questions about whether current policies do enough to manage brain injuries. Despite a policy that asks multiple people in the race to identify possible cases, the sport appears to be struggling to accurately identify who gets tested, when and how. Are critical medical decisions still slipping through the cracks because the wrong people, with misaligned incentives, are being asked to make them under pressure? Then it's time for our first featured topic: the evolution of the Enhanced Games. With swimmer James Magnussen chasing a chemically-aided world record and a million-dollar prize, we unpack the ethical and medical dangers of performance enhancement. What are the risks—for athlete health, for fairness, and for the messages it sends to the next generation?Next, we ask: How do you know who to trust? In an age of slick communication and pseudo-expertise, we explore the credibility of experts, and discover why true experts often sound less confident, not more. Ross explains how confidence can be a red flag, and why uncertainty and nuance are often markers of real scientific thinking. Finally, we dive into the messy reality of Talent ID. Ross explains four common errors—especially the “ghosts” created when resource-strained systems make early, high-stakes decisions that can harm both performance and people. We close with a brief segment on doping in Ironman, and why the “contaminated meat” excuse likely doesn't hold up—though science says it's not entirely impossible.LinksVingegaard on his concussion omissionThe UCI Concussion Policy that identifies all the right people to call for tests, but that frequently seems not to achieve thisDavid Epstein's recent article on fact checking and the illusion of expertiseOne example of the research studies used to sell BPC157, despite being in rats and showing nothing of the sort of promises companies make Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Christians across the country have watched the early months of Trump's return to power with cautious patience—wondering, even praying, for signs that real change was coming. Now, those signs may finally be emerging. Not in fanfare, but in force. After months of what seemed like political stagnation and institutional gridlock, the tide may be beginning to turn. In Riyadh, President Trump delivered a foreign policy message grounded not in idealism, but in clarity—“It is God's job to sit in judgment… My job is to defend America.” That message came alongside a pair of massive economic deals with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars and potentially supporting over a million U.S. jobs.Domestically, the ground is shifting as well. A Wisconsin judge—long seen as a symbol of progressive judicial activism—has been federally indicted. And in a ruling few expected, a federal court has upheld Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport members of violent foreign gangs. The legal system, long weaponized against the Right, is starting to show signs of something unfamiliar: equilibrium. And then there's RFK. No, not a defector—still a liberal in many ways—but one willing to tear into the bureaucratic rot inside the NIH. For Christians, his calls for transparency in the halls of scientific authority echo a deeper longing: that the light would expose the darkness. For those who have waited—and prayed—for the return of order, for justice with teeth, and for leaders willing to defend the good, these are not random events. They are early signs. Slow signs. But real ones. What we are witnessing may be the beginning of a providential reordering—not perfect, not messianic, but unmistakable. This episode is brought to you by our premier sponsors, Armored Republic and Reece Fund, as well as our Patreon members and donors.
