Thank you for joining me today, it's a quickie about current events that I feel need linking to the Performing Arts community. Do you know the term FinTech? Financial Technology has come into my world a lot over the past 6 months, it's basically using technology to remove the friction when processing payments online. What has fascinated me is how closely it resembles the mentality of the art on do a show get paid, rinse & repeat. All businesses & arts need to be held accountable for how we earn, spend and operate. An example is something called a Data Room. This is a tool that holds all financials, basically a secure storage place for a company's documents. Now imagine that an arts company were to have one so a donor or investor could look, transparently at a company's records. How would this change the playing field? This week the message is all about accountability, accountability for our actions, our health, our spouses, our rules etc. In this lifestyle our actions can affect so many different people but just like in real life some people don't want to be accountable for themselves. Accountability means growth, means improvement. Picture hanging with a group of people that feel the same about the lifestyle, consent, communication, accountability. It could be damn awesome. One really important message, we are not talking about being perfect! We are talking about learning and growing. Setting goals can be tricky. Following through on them is even harder. Sometimes it's good to have a little accountability from others, but where is the line between helpfulness and judgment? This week, we explore the concept of accountability, how it works in the context of discipleship, how the concept can be misused and abused, and what it looks like to practice healthy transparency in work, family and relationships.
We need it. But we don't always want it. ACCOUNTABLITY. Accountability helps us to show up consistently and be honest about what we are doing. Devoting yourself to yourself on a daily basis is what accountability truly is. It is taking ownership of what it is that you are working toward. Tracking your data, as in, weighing yourself and tracking your activity is one way of holding yourself accountable and studies have shown that it gives you a greater chance of success in losing weight. Another form of accountability is sharing your journey with others. Be it in your day to day life with an accountability partner, or having an online community to help you hold yourself accountable. Having that support helps you because others believe in you when you can't believe in yourself. (music credit: Creative Commons Music by Jason Shaw on audioautix.com)

This week the Australia Institute released the biggest most comprehensive analysis of federal government grants programs ever undertaken, which revealed that $3.9 billion spent by federal grants programs with ministerial discretion has clearly skewed towards marginal Coalition seats in particular, at the expense of safe Labor seats and, to a lesser extent, safe Coalition seats. It's public money, but there is little transparency about how it is spent or who gets the money.Recorded live on 30 November 2021, things may have changed since recording. The Australia Institute // @theausinstituteHost: Ebony Bennett, Deputy Director, Australia Institute // @ebony_bennettGuests:Bill Browne, senior researcher, Democracy & Accountablity program // @Browne90Hannah Melville-Rea, Anne Kantor Fellow // @HannahMelReaProducer: Jennifer Macey // @jennifermaceyTheme Music: Pulse and Thrum; additional music by Blue Dot Sessions

Just because sanctification is something we each go through personally, it doesn't mean we have to go through it alone. Are you in a relationship with another Christian woman with who you can be honest about your spiritual life? Not someone who will judge you for your sin struggles. Not someone who tells you that your sin isn't that big of a deal and to not worry about it. But someone who cheers for you when you have had a breakthrough and who lifts you up when you have a breakdown. Because that, my friend, is real accountability and it definitely DOESN'T suck! As a coach Eric Reid is currently working with individuals and teams to uncover their potential and help them learn to live a life of success. But what is a life of success? A life of success is more about the process of living life successfully then arriving at a 'success point' in the furture. How does he do that? Through one-on-one and group coaching, seminars, workshops, and speaking I help dream builders identify where they are stuck, remove the obstacles, design a strategic plan to active their goals, motivate them into action to allow them to grow beyond the current situation. Success Life is about personal and professional development designed to help clients shift from… * Functional to SIGNIFICANT! * Ordinary to OUTSTANDING! * Average to EXCELLENT! Everything I do - coaching, mentoring, speaking - is tailored to ensure that those I work with become… * INSPIRED to live with passion and purpose * ENERGIZED to focus on what is truly important * EMPOWERED to create lasting results When you work with me I will make sure that you have * An AWARENESS of who you are, your true purpose and gifts; * The FUEL to forge ahead and take your life and business to the next level * The TOOLS needed to strategically and successfully navigate through your life and business * SUCCESS on your terms “now that you are worthy, really worthy to pursue that dream, that ambition, that desire that in you, that you are worthy of it, that it was given to you at some level because it's yours to have so go after it. The Senate passed a bill Thursday that seeks to reform the process for reporting and addressing sexual misconduct in Congress. The Senate’s bill, passed without any objection in a voice vote, aims to reform significant parts of the Congressional Accountability Act. The House passed similar measures earlier this year. The future of the Senate’s legislation is already in question as it faces strong criticism from the American Civil Liberties Union and members of Congress like Representative Jackie Speier (D-Calif. 14). Rep. Speier helped spearhead the passage of the House’s reform measures and she, along with many others, argue that the bill is too narrow in scope and would still allow too much wiggle room for abuse to occur. The congresswoman joins us to explain why she thinks the bill does not do enough and what the legislation needs to include. Michael and Rick also discuss Harvey Weinstein’s arrest on charges of rape. What impact, if any, will this have on Hollywood and the Me Too Movement?
Accountability partners for goals are what butter is to coffee, or what collagen is to bone broth or, what cacao nibs are to goat yogurt…you know what I'm saying?? Okay maybe not, if you aren't as fond of these concoctions as I am. But for real, accountability partners are the bees knees. An accountability partner is someone you join forces with to hold one another responsible for your respective intentions. (Side note: In the past, the term “goals” have signified too much rigidity, as I tended to put too much focus on the end result. I like to use the word “intentions”, because it reminds me that the end results are something to aspire to, but they do not define me. It allows me to fully enjoy the process. That's just my preference, but you can use whatever word you want: goal, intention, result, outcome etc.) This past offseason, Arrow Liver, professional goalkeeper, and diving-header goal legend Michelle Betos and I were accountability buddies. Each week, we emailed each other what went well in our training, and what we wanted to improve the following week. We chose tasks that we typically struggled to complete on our own, and just needed a little extra push. One week, my focus was to get back in to the habit of documenting and reflecting upon all of my workouts. Another week, Michelle wanted to improve her ball striking technique. That week, she sent me a text of her foot taped up. Most humans, tape their ankle if it's injured, but Michelle's ligaments were fully intact. She taped her foot in order to recondition her brain to strike the ball with her foot in that specific position. That's Michelle Betos for you. If you haven't listened to her full podcast , that's not the craziest thing she's done to improve her game. A few weeks after we started this accountability thread, I saw an incredible stat: A study conducted at Dominican University of California showed that people who wrote down their intentions, shared with a friend, and sent weekly updates to that friend were on average 33% more successful in accomplishing their stated intentions than if they were to keep them to themselves. Woahhhh. That's a ⅓ greater likelihood of crushing your dreams!! Accountability partners are effective because when you tell someone else your intentions, they become more than just about you. This person serves as a greater reason to follow through on the action. Also, this gives you someone who is supportive of you and equally invested in pursuing their own visions. Plus, even if your desired outcomes are different, it's way more fun to salsa dance together to your dreams. Arrow Tip: Find an Accountability Partner Find a mate you trust, who will keep you honest, and agrees to be your accountability partner Converse about your intentions and the actions you want to take to meet them Set-up the specific actions you will, and create genera Check in with each other once a week, in person, via text, email, phone etc. Celebrate the progress! Fist bump each other each time you make a gain. Do you have an accountability partner? Have they helped you make moves in life? Let me know!
