Well we have a winner and we have a loser.  The loser is Trump.  Trump lost and there isn't much he's going to be able to do about all of this other than drag it out as long a possible and while a large amount of people die of Covid.  Also and more importantly I touch on the story of Quwan Charles in Louisiana.  He was a 15 boy who was murdered the weekend of Halloween and  there have been no charges filed and not enough coverage  has happened to this case.  This country is crazy right now. Breonna Taylor's killers we thought got their day in court, but has we found out they really didn't they didn't even get tried for her murder.  There is a lot of cover up and wrong doing still going on in this case.  And, we should not and can not rest until we get down to the bottom of what this case really is and what is going on.  Also I know that it is a really scary time in Kentucky keep safe all of you that are still protesting I know there are some scary ass people that are walking around their saying they are keeping order and peace but they aren't.  They are looking to hurt people. Once again I am behind on the news.  I got to the part about the debate and the taxes, but HE GOT COVID IN THE MEAN TIME!!!! This week I'm talking about voter suppression and while I know that my own story of voter suppression means that it can happy to any one that is considered lower class too, but it happens disproportionately to Black people and to that mostly black men!  With the election coming just around the corner we all need to be aware of how difficult it is for a large amount of people in this country to vote and how much your vote actually accounts for a lot more than just yourself.  I talk about the book The Color of Law written by Richard Rothstein.  I didn't actually read this book yet Ben my husband did.  It is the next book on my list, but it a great way to learn more about the ways this country has tried and to a great level succeeded at suppressing black votes. Keep this in mind when thinking about voting this year!  Are you registered to vote?  Better get to it!! Hi the title is exactly what it says.  I want to de-fund the police, but there are a lot of good reasons that you may not have thought of and what all those reasons could be if you haven't listened to the people of color demanding change and if you are all about the "Blue lIves" you should want the police to be de-funded too and you should be able to see how it will actually be the best thing for the police department and it's officers. We talk the News, but I didn't speak on the explosion in Lebanon, because at the time of recording this I did not know what caused this tragic event and I didn't want to give out false information.  Now that I am aware of what caused this and how many lives were lost and injured as soon as I record again I will speak on this event.  I am so sorry and my full heart is with the people of Lebanon.     Still need to register?  Go to Vote.Org!!! This week I am taking on Cultural appropriation vs appreciation.  It's a topic that a lot of white people not only have little understanding of, but it's something that they don't really want to understand either.    I know that one episode isn't enough to really take on the entire subject, but it is a good start for conversations.  And, that is how we start getting into some real change.  In the news I talk the crazy numbers for Covid last week and the giant bugger that is Florida.  I still don't understand why anyone would live there by choice by hey to each their own. So, I have to first put a quick retraction on here.  ICE has not lost 30000 children it's 3000 but really it's too many any way.   There are different things on the show now it may sound like.  And where it might seem that way I feel like long time listeners will know that this change has been a long time coming.  The podcast has always had political undertones this is not something really new, but in this time where we are finally calling for civil justice it just seemed like it was right to change.  I have known for a year that the show was either going to end or make a complete left turn to being more news driven.  And, I would rather be commenting on what is going on socially then having the same conversations about make up and aging.  Black people are dying immigrants are being kept in cages.  There's no time for frilly talk to come out of my mouth and it's time for me to use the platform for change.  I am sure there is more that I can do and I am going to work on that with every spare minute that I can, but the first step is getting my voice out there.  I know that it may seem like I am changing for downloads, but when have I done anything just for the downloads?  Trust me bitch if that was what I was after I would have picked up true crime a long time ago. This week it's all about dealing with our Covid feelings.  While we hear a lot of new information some real and some fake we are also trying to figure out what is the right to personally deal with our feeling about this virus.  Now that we in our 30's have to actually be the adults who try and take care of the older and younger generations and we can get frustrated and lonely.  And, what do you do with those kind of feelings??  Does starting a new hobby make this time easier?  Does being forced into a new roll in your life come better to you if you are also baking the perfect sour dough??  Or, should we be talking about how we really feel? We maybe be angry or scared or even feed up and I think we are at the point with states starting to open up that we own these feelings and get them off our chests now before we start to blow up or fall into bigger depressions.     A side note to everyone.  I have never drank really during an episode before, but I had the bright idea to try to get rid of some wine and I think I ended up a little more tipsy that I thought I would.  So, if it's as noticeable to you has it was to me I just want to say sorry.  I'm sure I'm not the only one have an extra glass of wine these days so I hope you understand. This week I'm talking about trying new things.  I gave you guys challenges to try new thing things or to use things that you had at home that you may never use.  Well, I went out and got some new things that I have either forgotten about, hated before, or was scared to try.  As we get older we get stuck in routines that can become a rut and while there's no problem with liking what you like it's really a good idea to shake things up and try something new. Now I have said many times that it's hard right now to get a hold of a lot of brands that you're used to buying, but if you're just trying something new what does it hurt to use drugstore brands and hey you might find something affordable that you actually like. I also give you tips on how to clean these products when you get home so that you actually use them without fear of getting sick.  I have to be honest I have loved doing this series and giving you all something else to think about besides being stuck at home or the government or whatever it is that is stressing you out right now.  I'm essential too all the things that you think about I constantly have on my own mind.  I don't want you to think I am ignoring it.  I  just don't see that point in forcing everyone to look fear in the face 24-7 when we all know it's there anyway. Hi! Hello! Hello! And, Happy New Year!! Today is not only the last episode of the year it’s also the last episode of season two, and it’s...  Well let’s just say I saved the best for last. In today’s episode I sit down with Luna Rose of Lafayette Indiana’s Rose Garden. This week I am talk about Joy.  While I have been out looking for fun for a two part episode coming up in July I found something even better something that I wish I had found years ago.  And, that's joy.  I discovered that my need to find fun doesn't always have to end in fun some time it can just lead to finding joy in the situation where I am in the moment. Being that this episode is being released on the fourth of July I am sure that a lot of people are going to start their day thinking they are looking for a lot of fun and find themselves disappointed but if you relax and just enjoy your time with friends your experience might be a lot different. This week we are talking about being fat.  There's no way to sugar coat it and I really don't want to.  There needs to be an honest conversation about why in the hell we are talking about how much people weigh still in our 30's.  What's the point?  And, we just don't even really want even own up to what we are, or even better own up to how we really treat each other.
