Reed Birney has been working in film, television and theater for decades. Among his earliest credits are Albert Innaurato's Broadway comedy GEMINI in 1974 and Arthur Penn's FOUR FRIENDS in 1981. A celebrated member of the New York theatre community, Reed has won a Tony and numerous other awards and nominations for plays including THE HUMANS, CASA VALENTINA, MAN FROM NEBRASKA, UNCLE VANYA, BLASTED, and CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION. Most recently he starred opposite his son Ephraim Birney in CHESTER BAILEY at Irish Rep, and in the highly successful run of Donald Margulies's LUNAR ECLIPSE at Second Stage, following a sold out run at Shakespeare & Company. On television, he was recently seen recurring opposite Kim Kardashian in the most recent season of "American Horror Story". He was also recently seen in Peacock's "Poker Face", and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." Other TV credits include HBO's "Succession" and Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale", as well as the Apple TV+ series "Home Before Dark". He is also well known for his performance as Vice President Donald Blythe in the Netflix series "House of Cards". Next he will be seen in a series regular role on the upcoming season of "Silo" on Apple TV+, and also recently joined the cast of the limited series "Rabbit, Rabbit" for Netflix. In film, Reed received a Gotham Award nomination for his performance in the Bleecker Street feature MASS opposite Ann Dowd, Jason Isaacs and Martha Plimpton. The film's cast was also honored with the Robert Altman Award at the Independent Spirit Awards. Other recent film credits include THE MENU opposite Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, the Universal/Blumhouse thriller THE HUNT, and Netflix's THE FORTY-YEAR-OLD VERSION and LOST GIRLS. On episode 208 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Andrew Paulsen! A native of Toledo, Ohio, Paulsen is a Brooklyn, New York-based filmmaker and songwriter. Musically, Andrew is part of the indie folk rock outfit Paulsen-Shepler with friend Ben Shepler. Together, they released their EP entitled Undertow back in 2022. The Paulsen-Shepler song "On the Long Way Down" off of Undertow was featured in Stephanie Laing's new movie Tow. On the film and TV side, Andrew has also had the chance to develop his skills in screenwriting and film production through various roles on his creative journey. From his early days as an office production assistant for Ryan Murphy Television, to Script Coordinator and eventually writing on FX's American Horror Story, to writing and directing his found footage horror short film entitled Homebody, Andrew's various work experience in entertainment is a testament to what is possible when you chase your dreams. For television she is the creator and writer of the comedy/drama series “The Dry,” for which she received a BAFTA nomination. @nancyfallonharris Marc Teitler (Music and lyrics) is a composer known for his dark, playful, and otherworldly scores spanning stage musicals, theater, film, and animation. A recipient of the Guardian Innovation Award, his cross-disciplinary work has honed his ability to craft immersive, emotionally resonant storytelling that often draws on the surreal, magical, and uncanny. He is the co-creator of The Grinning Man, the cult hit musical hailed as “crowned by an extraordinary score” (WhatsOnStage), directed by Tom Morris. The show premiered at Bristol Old Vic, transferred to the West End, and inspired international productions, a motion-capture film adaptation directed by Andy Serkis, and a chart-topping cast album. His earlier musical Baddies, co-written with Nancy Harris, was praised by The Guardian as “delightfully witty and endlessly imaginative.” Marc is currently developing an AI-themed musical adaptation of Pinocchio, with Tommy Antonio and Natalie Abrahami. Marc's music has featured in “American Horror Story,” “The Patient,” “Portlandia,” “Bones,” “The Loud House,” and “The Seventh Dimension,” and he has scored numerous animations including Hearts, nominated for the VW Score Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and Stuck On a Sunday by Marc Craste. La série de Ryan Murphy reprend certains aspects de cette idée mais l'histoire part bien loin des comics, avec des personnages hauts en couleurs et un soin de l'image qu'on lui reconnaît bien - mais qui ne sera pas forcément du goût de tout le monde. Cruising (Friedkin 1980) This episode is dedicated in loving memory of our dear friend Matt Brown, PhD. You lived unabashedly out and gay. You loved cruising and the scene. And you always had a unique perspective. We would have loved to hear your thoughts on this film especially. We miss you! Cruising was made during the brief few years post Stonewall and before significant awareness of AIDS that would decimate gay men especially throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In many ways we found this film to be more progressive, and offer better representation, of gay men than more recent films. We reviewed the film on it's own merits, as we encountered it as a text. After our discussion we became aware of there being significant controversy about the film especially at the time of its release. Our review does not address that. Cruising is intriguing, well constructed, and a fascinating allegory. And, it features a riveting performance by Al Pacino before he shifted into just acting as himself.
