The Devil's Ledger — Week of May 25th, 2026 This Memorial Day, we take a moment to honor the true meaning behind the holiday—remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Then, in The Creepiest Thing I Heard This Week, we head to Los Angeles and explore the infamous Rosenheim Mansion—better known as the “Murder House” from American Horror Story. A historic home turned horror icon, its legacy blurs the line between fiction and reality, leaving one unsettling question: does a place become haunted… simply because we believe it is? Over on The Devil Within, Season Five (What We Built… And What We Buried) continues with Episode 7—a deep dive into the legendary “car that ran on water.” Was it a revolutionary breakthrough, an elaborate hoax, or something quietly buried by industries that couldn't afford to let it succeed? Criminal Mischief is off this week, but Carolyn returns next episode. In the meantime, don't miss Evio Creative's newest hit, The Culture of Criminal Cool, following the rise and fall of drug kingpin Adam Diaz. This week features Episode 4 plus a bonus episode—a candid retraction and mea culpa as the team sets the record straight. Finding Me with Josh Wolf is on a brief hiatus as a major announcement looms—stay tuned. And on The Slippery, Scott and Nancy continue exposing some of the most fascinating cons in history. This Week in Horror: The biggest Memorial Day weekend opening for a horror film belongs to A Quiet Place Part II (2021), which earned $57 million. Directed by John Krasinski, the film—and its 2018 predecessor—help redefine modern horror through silence, tension, and atmosphere. She wasn't depressed. She was manic. And her doctor put her on antidepressants anyway.Alessandra Torresani — actress (Caprica, The Big Bang Theory, American Horror Story) and NAMI ambassador — spent over a decade misdiagnosed before learning she had Bipolar I Disorder. In this episode, she joins me to unpack what that decade cost her, how she got stable, and what she wishes every patient knew before walking into a psychiatrist's office.Alessandra brings firsthand experience managing Bipolar I Disorder, including more than three years off all psychiatric medication through pregnancy and breastfeeding. Drawing on my 11 years of clinical psychiatry before moving into regenerative medicine, we cover antidepressant-induced mania and its link to suicidal ideation, why bipolar disorder is routinely misdiagnosed as ADHD, and the symptom-tracking method that shortens the path to an accurate diagnosis. Alessandra walks through the non-pharmaceutical tools that kept her stable through pregnancy: transcendental meditation, breathwork, hypnobirthing, menstrual cycle tracking, clean nutrition, and ballet. I share emerging research on stem cell therapy for alcohol addiction, including animal studies showing up to 80% reduction in drinking behavior, along with how GLP-1 medications and NAD IV infusions are being used to reduce cravings and ease opiate withdrawal. We also get into the overprescription of stimulants like Adderall in young children, and why ruling out lifestyle factors — sleep, nutrition, screen time — should come before a prescription pad.And Alessandra shares why, despite being told speaking openly about her diagnosis would cost her her career, she refused to stay quiet. We talk about:• 00:00 Misdiagnosed with bipolar her whole life• 03:06 The myth that bipolar equals creativity• 04:30 Hiding a bipolar diagnosis in Hollywood• 06:32 Early childhood anxiety and perfectionism at age 5• 08:00 Why bipolar disorder takes 10–12 years to diagnose• 15:39 Antidepressant-induced mania and suicidal ideation• 17:24 Identifying bipolar I disorder in adulthood• 19:42 Managing bipolar without medication during pregnancy• 34:26 Tracking symptoms before starting psychiatric medication• 38:42 Stem cell therapy reduces alcohol cravings in studies• 40:46 GLP-1s and NAD IV therapy for addiction recovery• 43:52 NAMI resources for postpartum depression and anxiety

The creature's appearance sets off a chain of events so remarkable, so impossible, that it changes Baltese forever. As Peter is catapulted into the quest of his life, he discovers a magical bond with the majestic creature and risks everything not only to find his sister, but to set the elephant free.Nancy Harris (Book and lyrics) is an award-winning playwright from Dublin whose work has been produced in Dublin, London, and New York. Cruising (Friedkin 1980) This episode is dedicated in loving memory of our dear friend Matt Brown, PhD. You lived unabashedly out and gay. You loved cruising and the scene. And you always had a unique perspective. We would have loved to hear your thoughts on this film especially. We miss you! Cruising was made during the brief few years post Stonewall and before significant awareness of AIDS that would decimate gay men especially throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In many ways we found this film to be more progressive, and offer better representation, of gay men than more recent films. We reviewed the film on it's own merits, as we encountered it as a text. After our discussion we became aware of there being significant controversy about the film especially at the time of its release. Our review does not address that. Cruising is intriguing, well constructed, and a fascinating allegory. And, it features a riveting performance by Al Pacino before he shifted into just acting as himself. Pro wrestling has always lived somewhere between sport, theatre, and obsession. In this Live Via Satellite episode of The Commentary Booth, Jamie Apps sits down with writer and filmmaker Taleena Lee to explore that space, and the deeply personal journey behind her wrestling-themed anthology series, Australian Wrestling Story. What begins as a conversation about discovering wrestling in the most unexpected way slowly opens into something more intimate. Taleena traces her path from teenage fandom, through film school during COVID, to writing a six-part horror-infused TV series designed by a wrestling fan, for wrestling fans. Along the way, she speaks candidly about grief, creativity, and the strange comfort wrestling can offer when life gets heavy.Highlights Breakdown:How Taleena discovered wrestling through a storyline she initially hatedThe personal loss that shaped her connection to wrestling and storytellingTurning a film-school idea into a horror-infused wrestling anthologyWhy Australian Wrestling Story is being built for fans firstPaying tribute to the Australian wrestling scene and its performersThe challenges of creating independently, from writing to social mediaDrawing inspiration from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story, Yellowjackets, and the Australian independent wrestling scene, Australian Wrestling Story blends split timelines, psychological horror, and wrestling mythology into something that feels familiar but also unsettling in the best way. Taleena describes the show as “Dark Side of the Ring meets American Horror Story”, and once you hear her unpack it, that comparison sticks.Jamie and Taleena also dig into the realities of independent creation, wearing too many creative hats, building a grassroots audience online, and why paying respect to the Australian wrestling community sits at the heart of the project. It's a thoughtful, occasionally funny, sometimes emotional conversation about storytelling, fandom, and why wrestling continues to resonate far beyond the ring.FOLLOW TALEENA ON SOCIAL MEDIA:- Instagram- TikTokThis week's episode is brought to you byAustralian Wrestling CardsCheck out more great content from Pario Magazine on our website.-------------------------------------------------------------SUPPORT PARIO MAGAZINE & THE COMMENTARY BOOTH- PATREON- BUY MERCH- AMAZON PRIME VIDEO- TUBEBUDDY- Subscribe to AEW Plus using my code (q0yydoz) to earn $10 in FITE credit- Shop Online With Honey- Shop Online With SatechiMY EQUIPMENT- Elgato Facecam- Rode PodMic- Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP- Streamlabs Talk StudioFOLLOW JAMIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram- TikTokFOLLOW PARIO MAGAZINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram

The Cecil Hotel has been called many things: The Suicide, a skid row flophouse, the inspiration for American Horror Story, and the site of Elisa Lam's infamous elevator video. In this episode, we trace how an ordinary Beaux-Arts hotel became a “murder hotel” in the public imagination, from suicides and serial killers to viral footage, Netflix docuseries, and internet urban legends. This isn't a story about a haunted hotel… it's a story about how a hotel becomes haunted, and why the real horror is what happens to the living inside its walls. hauntedamericanhistory.comBarnes and Noble -   https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-forgotten-borough-christopher-feinstein/1148274794?ean=9798319693334AMAZON: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQPQD68SEbookGOOGLE: https://play.google.com/store/books/details?id=S5WCEQAAQBAJ&pli=1KOBO: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-forgotten-borough-2?sId=a10cf8af-5fbd-475e-97c4-76966ec87994&ssId=DX3jihH_5_2bUeP1xoje_SMASHWORD: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1853316 !! It's been a buzzy week at the Vogue offices. On Tuesday night, Zohran Mamdani made history as the first Muslim, the first person of South Asian descent, and the youngest in a century to hold the Mayoral position. Vogue's Fashion News Editor, José Criales-Unzueta, joins Chloe and Nicole to discuss the newly announced mayor's style — along with that of his effortlessly chic Gen Z illustrator wife, Rama Duwaji, who stunned last night in a black lace Ulla Johnson skirt and Zeid Hijazi top. Together, they explore how fashion choices can reflect our beliefs, values, and sense of identity. Then, writer Mattie Kahn comes to the Vogue offices to talk to Chloe about Vogue's December cover story that she wrote about Timothee Chalamet. She talks about the challenges of pinning down time to speak with the busy actor who was filming the newest Dune film in Budapest and also working on  performance art promotional videos for his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, set to go to the big screen on Christmas Day.. Plus, Kim Kardashian gets candid with Chloe about taking on her first major acting role (apart from American Horror Story) as Allura Grant in the new Hulu series All's Fair. The show features an all-star cast of women — including Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, Glenn Close, and Niecy Nash — the latter of whom Kim says mentored her in acting. Ryan Murphy, who created the series, said he was inspired by the line “Not only am I a lawyer in real life, I play one on TV,” which he felt perfectly suited Kim. He also drew inspiration from the well-known Hollywood lawyer Laura Wasser — whose father, notably, represented Kim's parents during their separation decades before representing Kim in her own divorce. Kim also shares behind-the-scenes details of her fabulous on-screen wardrobe, from a 1992 Jean Paul Gaultier suit with a surprising back reveal to the iconic Donna Karan power suits she sourced with her stylist, Soki Mak, for the role.
