It's official: Derek Dooley is the latest Republican to jump into the race to eventually challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff. The former University of Tennessee football coach joined the GOP primary and announced his campaign in a video that honored his late father, the legendary University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley. Republican strategist Brian Robinson, Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson and host Lisa Rayam agree: there's power in the Dooley name. But the endorsements are also rolling in for U.S. Rep. Mike Collins. Plus, Republican Janelle King sits on the State Election Board. Her husband, Kelvin King, is running for Secretary of State. Both are part of the Black Voices for Trump Coalition and have been critical of the current office and its handling of Georgia's elections. But King says she won’t surrender her position just because her husband is running, citing there’s no legal obligation for her to do so. If he wins, “that’s a different discussion,” she said.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In today’s episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast, we kick things off with Grammy-winning R&B duo Brandy and Monica, who reveal their 1998 hit “The Boy Is Mine” was inspired by a dramatic episode of The Jerry Springer Show. The legendary song, which topped the Billboard charts for 13 weeks, was intentionally crafted to spark rumors, and the duo are now reuniting both on tour and in the studio. Then, Michelle Obama speaks out to quell divorce speculation, attributing their privacy to their age “we’re 60, y’all” and emphasizing that if any serious marital issue existed, she’d address it publicly. One of the largest movements in U.S. History was The Great Migration, where an influx of African Americans left the South from 1910 - 1970 to the Midwest and northern states. During this time, approximately 6 million African Americans fled the Jim Crow South for better jobs, treatment, and opportunities. One of the cities of interest was St. Louis, especially for Louisiana and Mississippi residents. In this episode, Author and University of Missouri Professor Priscilla Dowden-White joins us to talk about how the Great Migration to the Gateway City was felt nationwide.
