Are all gay men non-monogamous? Do gay men want monogamy? Does non-monogamy feel compulsory in the Gay community? We put these questions and much more to the hosts of the Gayish podcast Mike Johnson and Kyle Getz. We chat about the role non-monogamy plays in Gay dating, how it can be difficult to negotiate monogamy and if discrimination and homophobia led to Gay men being regarded as the 'pioneers' of non-monogamy in the Queer community. First, Rich and Siobhan chat about how to answer a question commonly asked of non-monog folk, "What is the end goal of dating as a non-monog person?"A huge thanks to Mike and Kyle for joining us on the show. Discover the vibrant spirit of community and activism as we converse with Poonam Kapoor from the Victory Fund about the exhilarating Sunday Funday event, celebrating and bolstering LGBTQ candidates. We're also joined by Texas Senate hopeful Molly Cook, as she passionately discusses the interplay of social issues from school safety to racial justice. Plus, we take a theatrical detour with the imaginative play 'Aces' and delve into the evolution of 'queer' with Mike Johnson and Kyle Goetz of the Gayish Podcast, revealing how this term shapes identity and experience. My own journey into politics has been driven by an unyielding resolve to ignite change in Austin, anchored by my history of community involvement and legislative accomplishments. I detail the intricate dance of the Texas Two-Step election process, share the impact of local endorsements, and reaffirm my commitment to environmental justice and disability rights. The deeply personal and widely resonant topic of reproductive rights is also at the heart of our discourse, emphasizing the urgency for collective action. As Queer Voices evolves into a home-produced podcast, we ensure the essence of our show remains accessible across platforms. Frequent contributors Andrew Edmondson and Deborah Moncrief-Bell join the fold, and we introduce the News Wrap segment from This Way Out. While maintaining political neutrality, we present unfiltered opinions from our guests and their organizations. And just for kicks, we offer a quirky reminder about podcast usage – all part of another compelling chapter of Queer Voices that's sure to engage your heart and mind.Queer Voices airs in Houston Texas on 90.1FM KPFT and is heard as a podcast here. Normally when I sit down to talk to my guests we have a bit of chit-chat to break the ice and ease us in before we get going. But, occasionally, the chit-chat turns in to something very interesting and I have to scrabble to press record whilst making sure we don't lose the rhythm of the conversation. Which is what you will find with the start of this week's episode, where Mike, one half of the presenters of the Gayish podcast started to tell me about going out to the gay bar R Place in Seattle with his then wife... And, if the conversation is getting good before you've even started recording then you know you're in for a good episode! I talk with Mike, and his co-host Kyle, all about how they first met, how to spot a Seattle gay, and we reminisce about standing on the pavement at the end of the night after you've been kicked out of the pub scouring around for someone to go home with.... Do you have any memories of R Place, or clubbing from your own queer scene that you want to share? Well, if you have please get in touch - I want to create the biggest online record of people's memories and stories - go to www.lostspacespodcast.com and find the section 'Share a Lost Space' and tell me what you got up to! Hello Everyone, Welcome back to this Weeks Episode of the Queerience I`m your host Sarah Brown (she/her) and this week I`m joined by The boy of the Gayish Podcast Mike Johnson and Kyle Getz. This week we talk about the pandemic, the election and being queer. CW/TW: Mentions of Sucide, depression and anxiety happen in this weeks episode. Featured in Buzzfeed, Oprah Magazine, Esquire, and Queerty, Gayish is an award-nominated podcast that breaks down one gay stereotype each week. Mike and Kyle bring humor, honesty, and irreverence to topics like the hanky code, depression, and open relationships.Mike Johnson is a computer programmer living in Seattle, WA. Born and raised in Eastern Washington, he came out as gay in 2008 at the age of 30. He is an alumnus of Eastern Washington University, where he joined a fraternity (and still volunteers). He's also a musician, drives a Jeep, and loves beer. Kyle Getz is a writer living in Seattle, WA with his dog Reynolds. He grew up in Katy, TX, and went to school at The University of Texas at Austin. Kyle came out when he was 19, and continues to come out all the time since most people confuse his height as a sign of straightness. This week I am going back to an episode from a few months ago called Nicki Just Wants to be a Good Ally. I am not really fixing, but adding to the conversation of misogyny in Queer Culture.  When I did that first episode I didn't understand what a big issue it is to be femme or embracing your female nature is to queer persons and why for years and even to some point now feminine attributes have been expected to be hidden from others. But, nothing I say can truly be even close to what it's like to have to live this way, so I asked for some help! Here are the nice gentlemen who answered my DMs and headed up this episode for me.  With out their help I would not have been able to pull this episode off! It's our super sexy 69th episode! Nice! Join the Dead Beat Film Society as we discuss one of the worst films ever made, the infamous 2 million dollar napkin script, cocaine is a helluva drug, cult film, the godawful acting of Elizabeth Berkley (Brinkley?), America's problem with sex, Gina Gershon, full body nudity (ladies only), underwater blowjobs, that guy from Twin Peaks, cast a remake with other Saved By The Bell actors, the ways in which this might actually be a feminist film, and the ways in which this is most definitely not a feminist film. So throw on your favorite Ver-say-ce dress and smash that play button for an in depth Showgirls film analysis! (Special Guest: Gayish Podcast) Click here to subscribe to Gayish Podcast!

In this episode I do something a little different on the show. I reached out to my friends Mike and Kyle from the wildly popular Gayish Podcast, and asked them to come on the show so I could ask them, "What If You Became Disabled Tomorrow?" We talk about how their views on sex might change, what they'd be afraid of and so much more.Download Gayish here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/gayish-podcast/id1223826362Follow Gayish here: https://twitter.com/gayishpodcastBe sure to support our sponsors:Oleb Books, who have launched a Personal Essay Contest for disabled parents. Kyle Getz and Mike Johnson from the Gayish Podcast join us this week to discuss William Friedkin’s controversial police procedural, Cruising (1980). Matt flippantly (yet not inaccurately) summarizes the movie as Al Pacino putting on his best Lou Reed disguise to infiltrate the seedy underbelly of Freddie Mercury look-alike clubs. Do cops still “finger” people? Is sex on the beach actually sexy? Who won Miss Belle Bottom 1999? Answers to these questions and a fistful of Star Trek puns this week on Ex Rated Movies!

Hello and welcome back to another installment of your favorite middle aged crusaders for peace and justice, Shane and Kenny or better known as Now That I'm Older! This week we start our with a tale of how Shane's dad used to try and keep the Coca Cola from them but the human spirit of two trailer kids overcomes. Then we move into the Bill Cosby story that was going around about him thinking about holding seminars on the ways to avoid catching charges, in a sexual harassment case (or at least that's how it sounds). Then Kenny brings up exactly how savage Chimpanzees are in the wild, going as far as forming gangs. And finally we close out with another check in with Da Boss. This week we shouted out these #PodernFamily shows: Name It Next Time, The Gayish Podcast and Mens Rea Pod and we spun promos for The Neverland Podcast and Fork Found Reviews. So check out the show and let every millennial know about it!  I know they're entitled and you may have to invade their safe space to talk to them but remember, if they're your kid...you raised this brat. Now own up to it and tell them about the podcast. And then make them get a job.
