Nic from the True Crime Garage podcast joins me to discuss the case of Judy Martins. On the night of May 23, 1978, Judy went out with friends for some fun. With Memorial Day Weekend approaching, she had plans to travel with her friends. According to police, Judy left her friends' dormitory at Kent State University to walk a short distance back to her own dorm. That would be the last time she was seen. Since she lived alone, she wasn't reported missing for more than a day. The investigation into her disappearance never gained traction and eventually went cold. Sadly, Judy's parents have since passed away, and the case remains unsolved to this day. However, her brother and sister are determined to see the case resolved and believe it is still possible. The plane, originally a commercial airliner converted to cargo use, was undergoing maintenance when it suddenly taxied down the runway and vanished into the skies over the Atlantic Ocean, leaving behind no trace. Despite international search efforts involving the FBI, CIA, and various aviation authorities, no concrete leads or evidence ever surfaced, fueling countless theories ranging from financial theft and clandestine operations to possible terrorist involvement. Padilla's family believes he was coerced into the incident, while others speculate on his possible involvement. The realization that Vicky White had helped Casey White escape came as a shock to her colleagues and law enforcement nationwide. At first, investigators believed she might have been taken hostage — a respected, decades-long veteran of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. But that theory unraveled quickly. Within hours of the breakout, detectives discovered there was no scheduled court or mental health appointment for Casey that day, meaning Vicky's escort story was a complete fabrication. Security footage then showed her calmly escorting Casey out of the jail, holding the door for him, and walking side-by-side — not at all like someone under duress. At first, authorities treated it as a potential abduction, believing the veteran officer had been taken hostage by a dangerous inmate serving a 75-year sentence for attempted murder. But as inconsistencies piled up, the focus shifted. The U.S. Marshals Service quickly joined the investigation, launching a multi-state search that spanned Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. They released detailed bulletins with Casey's tattoos and Vicky's vehicle descriptions, warning the public that the escapee was considered “armed and extremely dangerous.” Media coverage exploded, with photos of the pair dominating national headlines as the story morphed from a kidnapping mystery into a full-blown fugitive romance.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Investigators later uncovered that Vicky White's phone records revealed extensive, months-long communication with Casey White before the escape — well beyond what would be considered professional contact between a corrections officer and an inmate. According to law enforcement, she and Casey had spoken frequently using a contraband phone smuggled into the jail, with records showing hundreds of calls dating back to 2021. These communications, many late at night, indicated a growing emotional and possibly romantic bond that deepened over time. Investigators also found that Vicky used burner phones and alternate numbers to avoid detection, suggesting premeditation rather than an impulsive act. Peaches ////// 877Part 1 of 1  www.TrueCrimeGarage.comWhile law enforcement continues to connect crimes and still more victims to the infamous Long Island Serial Killer investigation we decided to take a look at one of the more recent developments in this ongoing saga. In July of 2023 a family man and architect named Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with three murders tied to the Long Island Serial Killer case or L.I.S.K. for short. Those names and a few others were given to a series of unsolved homicides where the bodies and remains of several young women, a male, and a toddler were discovered in and around Long Island, New York. It is undetermined at this time if all of the murders were committed by the same killer or killers. Since the arrest of Heuermann, investigators have continued to make progress. Yogurt Shop Murders ////// UPDATE    Part 1 of 1www.TrueCrimeGarage.com After more than 33 years we finally get some closure in the infamous Yogurt Shop Murders case that has haunted Austin Texas since that sad and tragic night when four teen girls were brutally murdered. From The Austin Police Department - Austin Police have made a significant breakthrough in the 1991 I Can't Believe It's Yogurt murder case and we have new information. Our team never gave up working this case. For almost 34 years they have worked tirelessly and remained committed to solving this case for the families of Jennifer Harbison, Sarah Harbison, Eliza Thomas, and Amy Ayers, all innocent lives taken senselessly and far too soon. We have identified a suspect in these murders through a wide range of DNA testing. The suspect is Robert Eugene Brashers, who committed suicide in 1999. The Austin Yogurt Shop Murders is one of most infamous cases in Texas history. Despite the efforts of the APD it remains unsolved. In 1991 four girls were killed at the I Can't Believe it's Yogurt near the Northcross mall. Victims - Amy Ayers (13), Eliza Thomas (17), Jennifer Harbison (17), and Sarah Harbison (15) were shot and killed in the shop's backroom before the business was set on fire. Police had many leads, some that turned into arrests, and two accused were charged, convicted, and released.
