Paul and I met at uni in 2011 (?) while studying Psychology – in a creative writing class. Paul went on to be a Chef for 8 years and is now a Qualified councillor working at a Psychology Clinic. Paul never checks his phone, doesn't really use Facebook and is essentially the worst person I know with technology (seriously).He's recently started working from home, SEO-optimising content, writing web pages, creating a social media strategy, creating lead magnets and email sequences. Edward De Bono was one helluva guy. He invented the concept of lateral thinking. And he wrote a really, really cool book called the Six Thinking Hats. In this episode we run through how you can use this methodology to overcome conflict, blaze through problems with mighty solutions and even generate new and exciting ideas. Whether you find yourself arguing with others at work, at school, in your home or with your clients, this is an episode for the people. AKA just about anyone can pull their own noggin sparkler from this methodology. Essentially,  De Bono's genius concept breaks down how to approach a touchy subject where brainstorming is involved, into six different ways of thinking. For us creative business owners, this comes as a HUGE wave of relief. No more 'me vs you' in arguments. Jess Ruhfus is the founder of Collabosaurus. She's also an absolute powerhouse and was on my hit list of people who I wanted to connect with, so it's pretty special to have Jess on this episode.Collabosaurus is a marketing platform that connects complementary businesses for clever marketing collaborations.After working in PR, Jess was frustrated by the lack of connection for smaller businesses to get in front of huge audiences through collaboration.Events, products and social media are the main categories of collaborations.In the US, collaborations are surprisingly common. After speaking with Creative Directors for big brands, Jess discovered that in the US everyone is so well network and there's no shortage of value through connection.So, The Pitch Portal was built and it changed the business. This is a custom portal so each brand has a specific page where smaller brands can pitch to large brands (think gritty Pretty, Porsche and  Channel 10).If you want to collaborate with a big brand – who do you get in touch with? How do you find the decision maker? The Pitch Portal allows you to get in front of the right person really easily. Big brands are choosing to partner with small businesses. For example, Channel 10 collaborated with 8 small businesses. The businesses were able to provide value, and now they'll be in prime time TV.
