SDH 474: How (and Why) to Tap Into Your Intuition

She Did It Her Way

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 6, 2021 12:46

Hello friends! Welcome back to another episode of the She Did It Her Way podcast! In this episode I'm diving into how, and why, you need to learn to start tapping into and trusting your intuition and how doing this can get you to become the best version of your future self, right now. What is it? Tapping into your intuition can also be known as listening to your inner voice. It is knowing. Rather than looking outside of ourselves for answers, we instead go inward. It isn't necessarily what we hear, rather what we feel. It's that gut feeling. Scientists have said that your intuition can make a decision so quickly that it doesn't register at the conscious level. Sometimes it feels like knowing that logically, it may not make sense but intuitively it makes all the sense.Learning to tap into and listen to your intuition is something that everyone is capable of. I believe it to be just like exercising a muscle. Over time, we can expand our capacity to trust our intuition by increasing the exercises and ability to listen and trust. Sometimes you may be nudged to do something and you don't know why but rather than resisting the nudge because it doesn't make logical sense, you follow it. You say yes to it. Tapping into your intuition is something that most people struggle with at first because as humans we can be extremely logical in wanting to know everything and understand why. It requires us to let go of logic, going within ourselves, and trusting.  Why and Benefit? Following those nudges can help us align ourselves with our passions, life goals, outcomes, the way we live our lives, and so much more. Imagine if you kept getting the feeling or nudge that something was off about your career. But you keep pushing because that's what you think you should do, until one day you're overworked, exhausted, burnt out, and finally have a breakdown. It is possible that your intuition nudged you but you didn't hear it or didn't want to hear it. Oftentimes we get these nudges but choose to ignore them because listening to them can be scary. It can be where we come face to face with our reality. The benefit of listening to our intuition can help us align ourselves with the present in order to align us with our future self of tomorrow. Sometimes we don't know exactly what our life may look like in 6 months or a year but if we can make decisions today that are intuitively led then we can trust that where we are right now is where we should be.   How to Start?Create space. Part of the challenge of listening to our intuition is that there is so much noise that exists around us that it often makes it difficult to even hear. Sometimes it is about tuning out, to tune in. Limit input; whether that be a social media detox, news detox, reduce time on your cell phone, or creating constraints for less interruptions. Listen. Listen and wait for those nudges. They can be as simple as deciding what to eat. If you're not sure what to eat, ask yourself what feels right for you in that moment. Feel, trust and follow your gut. When you listen, trust, and follow your gut you start to build up capacity and strengthen that muscle.Until next time, keep doing it your way!   Insights:“Scientists have said that your intuition can make a decision so quickly that it doesn't register at the conscious level.““Tapping into your intuition is something that most people struggle with at first because as humans we can be extremely logical in wanting to know everything and understand why.”“Following those nudges can help us align ourselves with our passions, life goals, outcomes, the way we live our lives, and so much more.”

Today we are talking about gratitude. Gratitude is something we hear a lot about these days, and how we need to be more grateful in our lives. But what does that actually look like? And how does it impact our business, creativity, and our overall well-being?   When you practice gratitude in your daily life, you begin to see everything through a different lens. You slow down, appreciate the small things, lift your overall mood, which puts you in a more positive mindset to be a better parent, spouse, friend, to be a better creative and business owner, and just generally a happier person.   But what about gratitude in business? How do we weave gratitude practice into our work?   Gratitude towards our customers, clients, collaborators, and peers goes a LONG way in business. From “surprising and delighting” your customers to show your appreciation, to sending your collaborators a little gift in the mail, you can forge lasting beneficial relationships that will take you far in business.   When you lead with gratitude and grateful heart, you welcome in positivity, deepen connections with others, and open yourself up to a wealth of new opportunities.

In today's episode, I'm going to level with you and address what I see as a growing problem in the online marketing space — people thinking that business doesn't require hard work. There's a growing notion that you can pick and choose the work you do in your business and you don't have to do anything that's hard.  Basically, the anti-hustle culture has gone too far and is trying to convince you that hard work isn't what it takes to be successful. There is some truth that hustle doesn't equal success, but this is a false argument. Hard work is necessary to get success. It isn't sufficient to get success, but it is necessary. In this episode, we're going to face the facts. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN TODAY'S EPISODE: Why you have to do the work to be successful Where the idea of not having to work hard is coming from Why you have to put in the work, especially at the beginning of your business journey Why you can't look at someone further along in their business journey to tell you what you don't have to be doing Why the role you play in your business will shift over time Why the concept that business should be easy is problematic Building a business is hard and requires a lot of moving parts You have to generate traffic on a consistent basis (content, social media, ads, affiliates, etc.) You have to convert that traffic into leads and ultimately buyers (website, freebie, list building, nurturing, messaging, creating the right offer) You have to be able to fulfill on your offer (not just meet expectations but exceed expectations) You have to do the boring operations work (legal, tech, team, customer service, systems, etc.) Once you do the hard work to set these things up, you may be able to step back, but it's gonna take years If you choose not to do the work that's necessary to build your business, then you have to figure out an alternative way to get the results you want Ex: don't want to create content  Ex: don't want to be on social media Why at some point we have to get over ourselves and just do the damn work If you have a business, you're gonna have to do some things that you don't like, especially until you're able to outsource RESOURCES IN TODAY'S EPISODE: BADA$$ Online Marketing University Free Privacy Policy BADA$$ Online Marketers Follow Bobby on Instagram

This is Part 2 of the Cozy Creative Audio Series!   Today we're talking about NOURISHMENT. Nourishment is more than just what you eat. It's everything you consume: TV, books, music, podcasts, social media, even in our relationships with other people. What we consume affects us in every way, from how we feel physically, to how we perform, to our mental wellness, and everything that permeates from those things.    During busy times, nourishment often gets pushed to the back burner, which is ironic because it's extremely important during those times. What we consume is the fuel that carries us onward.  It impacts our stamina (physical and mental), and plays a part in how well we make it through to the other side.   In this episode I'm sharing my favourite nourishing things - recipes, playlists, podcasts, and books.    The Cozy Creative audio series is a comforting chat, an easy listen to have on in the background while preparing orders, and instead of making you feel like you should be doing MORE in your business, it'll inspire you focus in, take a little extra of yourself during this busy time, and hopefully bring you a sense of peace and contentment.

Let's face it, mental abuse in our dance education system is alive and kicking! When I was in school, we were taught to strive for perfection, compare ourselves to our peers, and give our lives over to dance, forsaking anything else. We weren't taught to advocate for ourselves, make a budget, plan our days, or even how to stay motivated. I can't lie. I learned this way, so when I started teaching, I taught this way. But I soon realized that fear-based teaching didn't work for me. I didn't feel good about my relationship with my students, and we all were burned out. So instead of using fear, I started teaching confidence! I realized that I have the power to create dance companies that empower, support, and motivate dancers to be their best selves mentally and physically. You have that power too! In episode #146 of the Dance Boss Podcast, I sit down with Susanne Puerschel and we have a fantastic conversation about her life and her newest company R.I.S.E. Media, a platform and community that helps performing artists and companies generate multiple streams of income, building sustainability, and financial and artistic freedom. We also talk: The importance of having a coach and asking for help Knowing and owning your superpowers without shame Differences between how the arts are valued in Europe and America And so much more! I was amazed by the parallels in both Susanne's and my story, especially when we spoke about the many shifts she had to make before finding what felt good for her life.  There will be some things that we have to release, and there will be some things that we have to embrace in order to build the lives that we want. In today's marketing fundamentals episode, we're talking about an important economic concept: barriers to entry. These are factors that make it more difficult for a newcomer to enter a market. Barriers to entry protect existing businesses from competition and tend to allow monopolistic pricing. Let's dive in and discuss why you need to create barriers to entry in your online business. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN TODAY'S EPISODE: Where barriers to entry are high, you tend to have higher prices and profits Where barriers to entry are low, you have to bring prices down because of competition Regulatory and professional requirements are examples of barriers to entry High start-up costs in a market create a barrier to entry Switching costs are another type of barrier to entry (e.g., banking) Technology requirements can create also a barrier to entry In the online space, there aren't many barriers to entry — this means it's easier for you to get started but it's also easy for your competitors One way switching costs show up in the online marketing space is technology You need to create barriers to entry in your business to help you protect it One way to do this is customer loyalty Another way is via technology (for example, I created legal agreement generators, which creates a type of barrier to entry for potential competitors) Another example of a barrier to entry is creating a repository of assets that would make it difficult for anyone to catch up with you (for example, I created my FREE training program BADA$$ Online Marketing University) RESOURCES IN TODAY'S EPISODE: BADA$$ Online Marketing University Free Privacy Policy BADA$$ Online Marketers Follow Bobby on Instagram

Today's episode is a little unusual cause we're going to talk about why your business sometimes needs to be “boring.” The reason we need to talk about this is because the most common message we hear about business is that it should be “fun” all the time. We need to talk about the distinction between enjoying what we do in our business and having fun. Your business will involve work, but there should be more to life than your business. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN TODAY'S EPISODE: The different types of personality challenges people face/create in business The challenge of being a “multi-passionate” entrepreneur Your attention is spread too thin You confuse your audience The challenge of being a constant “tinkerer” You don't allow enough time to get data to make a decision Constantly trying to make adjustments to evergreen products before you know what you should change The challenge of constantly having new ideas Acting too quickly before you can tell if the idea is worth pursuing Always chasing new ideas diverts your attention and doesn't allow enough time for things to work Create systems to keep up with your ideas Allow a cooling off period for your ideas rather than acting on them immediately Avoid talking about every new idea with your team Commit to doing fun stuff and also allow some aspects to be boring RESOURCES IN TODAY'S EPISODE: BADA$$ Online Marketing University Free Privacy Policy BADA$$ Online Marketers Follow Bobby on Instagram
