Building a business isn't for the weak. I think it's important that we have a bold and real conversation about the realities of what building a business truly is. It's not this glamorous lifestyle filled with picture, perfect photos, immediate success, or a get rich quick pathway. It takes blood, sweat, and tears, but it is always so worth it! In this episode, I break down the realities of what building a business looks like. I break down a seven step process that shares what building a business is actually like in the expectations you have to have going into it. I share personal examples of what I've walked through as a business owner, and how I've overcome those obstacles.
Never what I have imagined that my life will change so drastically in just a matter of a few months or rather a few weeks. From walking away from the career I had built for over half a decade, changing jobs, losing my mother, and a matter of a few weeks after making one of the scariest decisions of my life, and then navigating all the emotions that all of that brought on all at once. Life is going to happen, no matter what, it's not a matter of if it is a matter of win, and it's all in how we handle it. If it wasn't for the Lord, walking with me through that period of time, I don't know how I would've made it. I never expected all of those things to happen at once in my life let alone just one of them in itself. In this episode, we talk about the hard times, how to navigate them when they come and how life just isn't going to look like how we plan. Sometimes you have to make some play changes. You have to do things differently and you have to be okay with it, because it's just reality.
From meeting on bumble to marriage, in this episode, I share all the details of my fiancé and I's relationship. We have both experienced so much heartache, hardships, trials, and tribulations in our relationship is a true testament of what the Lord has called together he will clear a path. Our relationship was such a journey, and we have walked through so many things together and we think it's important to share that so that people know they're not alone and their struggle, that not all relationships are perfect and you will go through so much as a couple. The versions of ourselves that we are today versus when we met are two completely different people, and it has been so special to walk through this journey not only with each other, but with all of you.

Let's talk confidence. And no I'm not talking about body confidence or how we feel about the physical. I'm talking about walking in who you are, standing bold in exactly who God made you to be, and knowing you can have confidence in who you are because you know WHOSE you are. In this episode, Jordan and I break down confidence. We share real stories about where we came from, talk about how we overcame obstacles when it came to walking in confidence, and sharing the redemption of what it feels like today standing firm in WHO we are. Jordan is a very dear friend of mine who I met in business and has been a core part in helping me launch and grow my podcast. It is an honor to be able to speak with her, especially with this conversation. Check out the Within Her Soul Podcast
I know we have all heard the phrase if he wanted to he would. For the longest time I said that and believed it too until I realized a few things. I think it's less about if he wanted to and more of is he even capable of. Sometimes it's not about what we are asking but rather who we are asking. In this episode we go over the lessons learned in relationships, making sure we're asking the right person, And not trying to change our expectations based on who we are asking to meet them.
All too often we put a timeline on our goals and instead of changing the goal we change the timeline. There are so many factors that keep us from accomplishing our goals and I'm here to lay them out for you, help you find what is holding you back, and help you make a strategy for accomplishing all of the things that are in front of you. It's time for you to stop letting limiting beliefs, distractions, timelines, lack of discipline, and all the other factors that keep you from the life that you're meant to live!
It's time for you to plant your flag friend. For far too long you have shouted out a goal, a dream, an aspiration and the moment life got in the way, something happened, the enemy got into your mind, you immediately gave up on your goal. In this episode you are going to plant your flag in concrete. No longer will you plant it in sand and let your flag fall and your goal dwindle between your fingers. Claim the goal. Stand firm in going towards it and don't waiver. It's planted firmly in concrete and you will accomplish it.
Do you seem to struggle with knowing that there is more out there for you? Or maybe you know there really is more out there for you but you struggle with which direction to go and what that more looks like for you. This episode I have the privilege and honor to interview Pam Sowder. A successful business woman, founder, motivational speaker, network marketing professional, author, and overall astounding woman. Pam was voted One of the most influential women in direct sales and earned the name “Queen” from everyone who knows her. We cover how to have the mindset that there is more out there for you. All too often do we think about a goal, a decision we want to make, a business we want to lunch and we quickly cripple ourselves with all of the unknown. We try to wait until we are ready and we are constantly looking for the perfect time to say yes let's do it! I'm here to tell you that it's time for you to start before you are ready. In this episode we cover how to start before you are ready, we break down the importance of what this can do for your life, and the harsh affects of not starting before you are ready and waiting for the right time. It's time for you to go after and accomplish all of the things you have ever wanted to do and stop letting fear get in the way!
For so long I thought setting boundaries was inherently unloving and unchristian like. I felt like it separated me and that I had the wrong intentions and doing it. I feel like a lot of us have been taught that setting boundaries is a negative thing and to keep people out but what I've learned is that it's less about cutting people and things out and more about keeping ourself IN. In this episode week cover setting healthy boundaries, learning the effects of not having boundary set, and embracing setting healthy boundaries for our lives! Jesus had boundaries. We should too.
There is nothing worse than wasted potential. Have you ever looked at that friend in your life, that coworker, your spouse, and thought so highly of them. I could ask you to make a list of things that you love about them and you could go on and on about how incredible they are. Do you realize there are people around you that could do the same thing about you?In this episode we cover how to avoid wasting your own potential and to fulfill the calling that God has on your life for you and through you. It is time for you to stop disqualifying yourself and putting yourself in positions that require you to grow and reveal things about you you didn't even know that you possessed.
Do you know those really hard days? Or even those really hard seasons? The ones where you feel completely out of touch, you don't feel like yourself, you don't have energy, you feel all kinds of emotions, and you're just simply struggling? We all go through those times and I think it's important to know that you are just human. It's not great all the time and as much as it may seem like other people don't go through what you go through, they do. I'm here to relate to you and show you that you are not broken and you are not alone. It's a hard season, not a hard life. I'm here to offer you encouragement and how I get through my hard times!
So often I get asked to do a question and answer with Payson on Instagram. We decided to do a little interview style and just chat about all the things that I get asked about us! We talk about relationships Overcoming Hardships will talk about business, we really cover it all!We want to do more of these in the future and as always let us know if you have anything else that you want us to talk about!
The way I grew up, I was surrounded by addiction, divorce, stricken by poverty, and it wasn't until my teens that I started realizing what these were actually called. I learned that I was being faced with generational curses that only I was able to stop. A generational curse describes the cumulative effect on a person of things that their ancestors did, believed, or practiced in the past, and a consequence of an ancestor's actions, beliefs, and sins being passed down. In the episode we learn how to face those generational chains, learn how to start the process on breaking the shackles that seem to bind you , and discover that there is freedom on the other side of those curses. I began reading Shadow Boxing by Dr. Henry Malone to start understanding generational curses more and discover how to start living in freedom!
Failure in life is inevitable. As you walk through every season, there are always going to be let downs. whether you're ready for them or not, you have to be prepared for them. Often times we look at let downs as failures but truly they are set ups. The biggest blessings in my life have followed the hardest seasons of my life. What felt like failure truly became the foundation in which I stood on to see the best views I had ever seen. In this episode we will go over the failures and setbacks that you have had in your life, how to walk through them, but most importantly how to walk past them and how to see what came from them!
How many of you have ever contemplated starting a business, making better friends, giving up that addiction and very quickly the lies of the enemy start taking over your mind and you don't do it because that next level seems too hard. It seems too far for you to actually claim it unlike some thing that you can't achieve. I'm here to tell you that the next level of your life is going to require a next level of you. That next level of you is going to require growth and growth does not come easily. Growth is hard, it brings along tribulations and trials, and it's something that not many people are willing to walk through because comfort is easier. And this next episode we will walk through what it takes to upgrade your life, why God has called us to more and what you need to do to get to the next level!
Whether you are walking through the season of singleness, you are currently in a relationship, or your relationship status is questionable, we are going to talk about it. In this episode, I go over the season of waiting, how to wait well, how to prepare yourself for a relationship and we also talk about struggles that you walk through in your current relationship, how to strengthen your relationship, and how to know when you're with the one. Relationships are hard, being single is hard, but there are blessings on the other side always.
Comparison seems to be plaguing our society more and more every day. We look left and we look right and look at the highlight reel of peoples lives and start comparing what we don't have to what they do have. It's like quicksand that you can't get out of. In this episode we go over the reality of comparison and how to overcome it! The fastest way to kill something special to you is to compare it to something else. We truly start believing the lies of the enemy tells us. That if we had what they had we would be better off.But truly the reality is if you began comparing yourself to yourself that is where growth happens. You're better off comparing your today to your yesterday. It's time to stop comparing yourself to others and start walking in confidence for who God made you to be.
The most frequently asked questions I get asked is how to strengthen your relationship with God, how to step in to your faith, how to grow closer to the Lord. I'm excited to have this conversation with one of my dearest friends and one of the truest examples of what a woman of God looks like with you guys. We dive deep into her testimony, into hardships she faced and how she strengthened her relationship and learned to lean on her faith and wait on God well. We get raw and vulnerable in this episode. We discuss heavy topics and have a heart to heart. Our hope in this episode is through the discussion you learn that this relationship doesn't have to be perfect, that you are not too far gone or too broken for His love. Social media is the most powerful tool that you can use in building your brand. Building your brand is about defining what it is that you stand for. When people think of you these are the things they think of! Building a brand can truly explode your business, purpose, product, or whatever it is that you're trying to promote through your social media platforms. Building a brand helps with retention, building your business, and also creating a space that you enjoy working in because you're sharing things that you love!In this episode I breakdown what a brand is, how to build it, the benefits of building a brand, and the power that you hold just by sharing what you love!
I get it. You are defeated, weary, tired, and feel like you can't keep going. But I want you to know that in every situation quitting is always going to be an option and it is the easier option of the two because it has a predictable outcome. Don't choose it. God calls us THROUGH it in Psalm 23:4 This pit will become your platform. He is going to turn this mess into a message. And I know that as you look up to the top of this mountain it seems too far and hard to climb and that you're not capable of doing it, you start looking left and right and think that the easier option is just out instead of up but truly I can tell you that the person you were going to become through the valleys is the blessing of it all! And this episode I go over what it feels like to be in the valley but how to overcome it and to know that there is a blessing on the other side! You can make excuses or you can make money but you cannot make both. For some reason we automatically choose defeat, excuses and think the worst when it comes to going to the next level. When we have the goal, the dream, the next level we want to go to we immediately make an excuse as to why we can't do it. We allow the lies of the enemy to control our thoughts and you allow it to talk yourself out of everything that you've ever wanted to doIn this episode we go over how to quit making excuses and choose action instead. That those successful people that you look up to in whatever area of your life that you want more of, there is nothing on the inside of them that is not on the inside of you. When you think of successful people you have to understand the only difference between them and you is the amount of time they've put into that goal, the excuses that they haven't made, and the consistency that they have done. It's time for you to level up, get rid of the excuses and start putting in the action towards the things that you want in life.
Motivation gets you going, discipline keeps you going. It requires you to connect todays actions to tomorrow's results and when you see those results you keep putting in the actions. It's a compound effect. I'm this episode Sam and I cover the difference between the often confused motivation VS discipline. Motivation is a feeling. Discipline is an action. Feelings are fleeting. You won't feel like it tomorrow and your goals and dreams will go out the window. You have to operate using BOTH. A feeling to get you started and an action to keep you pushing. The feelings = motivation The actions = discipline We hurry up to wait. We hesitate to take the next steps always waiting on how we feel to make the decisions for us. Newsflash you're never gonna feel like it. There wont be a moment that say YES. You have to take the first step and the discipline muscle will continue to grow! All too often we have people in our lives that we continue to be hurt by, neglected and put through traumatic situation's simply because we don't know how to cut them off. It can be a sensitive and traumatic situation and very difficult to navigate. In this episode I walk through the seasons of my life where I had to learn to cut people off and how I walked through those seasons of heartbreak. It is so hard to be vulnerable and to open up about these experiences and my hope is that as I share mine you are able to find connection, relatability and feel like you are not alone.
We all know that there are plenty of seasons where we must wait for the next thing. Sometimes we can feel stuck with where we are in life trying to figure out what the next step is. It can be a season of confusion, pain, heartache, and questioning while trying to figure out what the next step is. We try to rush through these seasons because we aren't able to be patient or truly reflect on what the lord is trying to teach us. In this episode Kelsey and I go over seasons of waiting in our lives, and how we used those for good and we also reflect on how it's shaped us into who we needed to be for the next season of our life! You know when you look around in your life and you feel stagnant. Like the world is spinning but you're staying still? Caught up in the hustle of life and you're letting life control you instead of controlling it? Complacency sneaks up on you. It brings you to mediocrity and squeezes the life out of you. It makes you think that you're no longer passionate and makes you question everything that you're doing. You get caught up in the daily routine of simply existing and you forget that you have goals, aspirations, dreams, and all the things that those things bring in between. I'm here to help you step into abundance and get out of the complacency trap. We are going to establish ways to prevent it in ways to overcome it. Hardships are inevitable. Whether you have walked through a hardship, going through one currently, or going to walk through this episode is going to equip you on how to navigate through it and overcome. So often we try to create our own plan and lean on our own understanding. We try to cope and get through it on our own when God is using this hardship to make you dependent upon Him. Morgan and I share in this episode her story and all the events that led her to where she is in life now. We have the tough conversations and share how she overcame the obstacles she faced in her life. At the beginning of 2022 I decided to take control of my life. I wanted to regain my self integrity, and hold myself accountable in my health and in my goals. I started the 75 Hard challenge and I completed it. Not only did it change my life physically but it changed emotionally, mentally, relationally and in every other way possible! In this episode I break down every detail in the challenge and go over the hardships, the mental toughness, the no excuses attitude, and how it transformed my life for the better. If you find yourself feeling stuck where you are the first thing you need to evaluate is the circle of people in which you surround yourself with. All too often do people have a circle filled with friends who are hurting you instead of helping you, causing you to remain stagnant instead of grow, bringing negativity into your life, not encouraging you to step into the next level of who you are becoming. It is time to take inventory of your circle and start reevaluating your standards. You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with and it's time to take attendance. All too often, we listen to the lies of the enemy about our lives. His plan is to steal, kill and destroy all things in our lives and he is there to live his life convincing us of all the lies he tells us, confusing us and making us feel less than. All the while we have the Bible that is filled with the TRUTH. We must begin to replace the lies with the truth from the word and learn to turn them off. We will discuss how to pinpoint the triggers, speak on the truth, dive into the word, and listen to what He says about us instead.
