When we read the gospel account of Mark, it seems like Jesus is inviting controversy and deliberately increasing conflict. But why? This week, we come to a pivot within the book of Colossians. And that pivot presents us with this question: How do we biblically and thoughtfully move out from the gospel of grace (as laid out in the first two chapters of Colossians), to living by grace, which requires obedience to the Lord who saved us (as laid out in the last two chapters of Colossians)? This is a crucial question, because our answer can lead us either into the very legalism that Paul has warned against, or into license, which ignores the commands of Scripture altogether. Neither is proper, both dishonor Jesus. How we engage with the commands from God through Paul, and how we relate to all the commands of the NT as we follow Jesus, matters. Join us as we discover that union with Christ is the key to following Christ. Text: Various Texts in Colossians Speaking: Pastor Isaiah Lewis

As creatures of space and time, we have an innate longing for stability. Our world feels rushed and often in a panic; we live in a country where stability seems elusive. And we can often feel that we are just careening from one crisis to another in our personal lives. Is there anything or anyone that can give us the steady ground that we crave? The Colossians were finding themselves exhorted by spiritual leaders to look for greater experiences and knowledge beyond what had brought them into the faith--the gospel. As he does so, we are reminded of this: “In order to keep your footing, watch your Head.” Text: Colossians 1:15-20 Series: Colossians Speaking: Pastor Isaiah Lewis Date: January 30, 2022

Every one of us has experienced (or soon will experience) storms in our life…a relationship that seemed so promising implodes, plans for a new job never materialize, hopes for a beloved child crash in the wake of unexpected news. When the ground beneath our feet doesn't seem steady anymore, to whom can we turn for help, hope and security? From a fishing boat in the middle of the Sea of Galilee, Jesus demonstrated that his amazing love is paired with infinite power. The lesson for his disciples then (as well as for his disciples now) is that when we find ourselves in the midst of an unexpected storm, we are to find our shelter in him.
