Wake up! You’re in charge of the show today! It’s an all-calls Saturday! Dean is back from Paris — no, not Texas, the other one! — to answer all your questions about your home. Today’s first caller recently did a home renovation that’s nearing completion, and received a letter from the Orange County Tax Association asking to itemize each of the things she did to improve her home, because her contractor pulled a permit — will it raise her property taxes? Our next caller is the former president of the Orchard Society and wants to plug this weekend’s Santa Barbra International Orchard Show. Go check out those bulbs and blooms! Another caller has a property tax question, wanting to know if her new deck extension with living space underneath will increase that annual, unavoidable payment. Pastor West gives a sermon centered on Genesis 12:1-9, which details the Abrahamic covenant and God's call to Abram. He explores the nature of a divine calling, defining it as a persistent urge to move toward God's purposes, often requiring a costly departure from personal security and familiar surroundings. By examining the seven promises made to Abram, he illustrates how God intends to use individuals as conduits of global blessing. He emphasizes that true faith is revealed through active obedience and consistent worship, even when the future remains unclear. Ultimately, he connects the ancient story of Abram to the Christian gospel, suggesting that modern believers are spiritual heirs to these promises through Jesus Christ.Support the showThanks for listening! Yet, working backwards through this episode of Jacob's life, we learn what it means to be a sojourner led and assured by God. We need not be afraid while we are sojourners in this life because like Jacob, we belong to God as his people, and he is our God who preserves us and keeps his promises.
