In this episode, I'm going to talk about what is perhaps the most important thing when learning a language: time.I've studied Ukrainian for just under 180 hours, and while I'm not fluent, I can hold conversations. But getting that much study time in can be difficult. This data helps us identify your exact strengths and weaknesses.But what happens when you get "overloaded with information"? . Real talk: I was disappointed in myself. In 2023, I realized that students at the Calgary Language Nerds progressed slowly. I also noticed that most people didn't take many lessons. I think the average used to be something like 16 hours of class per person...in the course of a year.Considering that the vast majority of learners at the time didn't do much self-study or homework (if any), 16 hours is quite simply not enough.For the first time since then, I'm proud of the work we're doing. Far more students really are getting better. We can measure their progress.
