Episode Description In this enlightening episode, Scott Smith dives deep into what truly creates happiness in our everyday lives. Drawing from decades of coaching experience with thousands of clients, Scott reveals that behind every goal and aspiration lies one fundamental desire: to be happy. Scott shares personal insights about a middle-of-the-night revelation that prompted him to make changes in his own life, demonstrating how we sometimes need a gentle nudge (or divine intervention) to get back on track. Through practical wisdom and actionable advice, Scott outlines simple mindset shifts that can transform your daily experience into one filled with genuine happiness and fulfillment, regardless of your circumstances. Featured Story After a 3 AM wake-up call where Scott humorously describes God calling him a "dummy" for not listening to his audience, he returns to the show's original theme music by popular demand. This lighthearted story illustrates how sometimes we need to stop second-guessing ourselves and just make the changes we know are right, both in podcasting and in life. Key Takeaways Happiness is the ultimate goal behind every other goal we pursue Being grateful for what you have creates an immediate shift in perspective and reduces anxiety Aligning your daily actions with your core values and beliefs is essential for authentic happiness Making someone else's day better creates a remarkable "happiness payback" for yourself Asking "What can I do?" when faced with challenges keeps you from feeling stuck Holding space for your dreams is crucial - busy lives require intentional time for what matters Regular self-reflection through tools like the Perfect Week Planner helps identify what's working and what needs adjustment Memorable Quotes "Align your actions with your values and beliefs - when your day-to-day actions match who you are on the inside, you'll be a happy person." "We thrive in growth, not by being stuck. Whenever anything challenging happens, ask yourself 'What can I do?' There's always something you can do." "When you hold space for your dreams, it's amazing what happens - those dreams tend to come true." Scott's Three-Step Approach Practice Daily Gratitude: Take a moment each day to pause and identify specific things you're grateful for to shift your perspective and reduce stress. Align Actions with Values: Evaluate whether your daily activities reflect your true inner values and beliefs, then make small adjustments to bring them into alignment. Hold Space for Your Dreams: Intentionally carve out time in your schedule for the things that matter most to you, allowing your dreams to develop and manifest. In today's episode, I'm diving into the importance of starting a health & weight loss journey with a mindset of self-compassion vs self-criticism. It's common to want to lose weight because you're unhappy with the way you look, but this often leads to burnout and frustration. Instead of fixating on weight loss and how your body looks, I break down how to shift your focus in a way that will improve your mindset and body image. Hey there, and welcome to this episode of SelfKind with me, Erica Webb. In this episode, I'm exploring the complex relationship between personal beliefs, self-expectations, and being a highly sensitive person. There's a 'mistake' that you probably don't know you're making when it comes to trying to be a good *something* (parent, business owner, partner, human ...). Today, I want to support you to see where this 'mistake' could be creeping in. You'll hear:- Why you might so easily mistake your overwhelm and overstimulation for evidence that you're not 'good enough'- Why the word 'should' is a good internal alarm to get your attention- How nurturing and honouring your sensitivity will always yield better outcomes than trying to 'tame' it- And more.I hope you find this episode helpful. If you're like me, your email inbox and LinkedIn messages are flooded with terrible pitches. It's a daily headache—random people you've never met asking for 30 minutes of your time to talk about services you don't need.Sound familiar? This approach is not just annoying, it's ineffective, and it's killing your chances of success if you're doing it too.On this episode of Nemo Radio, I'm breaking down exactly why most cold outreach falls flat and how you can flip the script to start getting real engagement. What You'll Discover:❓ 00:10 - The single biggest mistake you're making in your outreach – and why it's costing you potential clients.
With host retail coach Wendy Batten https://wendybatten.com/podcast-intro/ In This Episode: Want to increase profitability in your retail shop this holiday season? Let's talk about how! I'm chatting all about how to make that bottom line number BIGGER in this episode. It's not about revenue - it's about what stays in your pocket after all the bills are paid. I'll walk you through some simple, practical changes that will help you make more profit this season without overwhelming yourself. Key Takeaways: Profit vs. Revenue: We've got to stop chasing that top-line revenue number like it's the only thing that matters. What we really want is profit—what's left after you pay for everything that makes your business run. “Revenue is vanity. Profit is sanity.” -unknown Easy Pricing Tweaks: One quick win for you—try raising your prices by 3-5%. Don't panic! Small increases can make a huge difference in your margins without customers feeling like prices went up. Trim Your Operating Expenses: Take a good look at where your money is going. Is there something you can negotiate, cut, or adjust? Things like shipping costs, credit card fees, and even your phone plan can often be negotiated down with a little effort. (But be sure not to cut expenses that are making you money or that you are gaining value from!) Think Percentages, Not Dollars: When you focus on making small percentage changes, like reducing expenses by just 1%, you'll start seeing big results over time. It's all about those small wins adding up! Your Next Steps: Here's what I want you to do this week: Take a walk around your shop and really look at your pricing. Is there an opportunity to nudge things up just a bit? Next, review your expenses line by line and see where you can make a tiny cut that won't affect your business but will boost your bottom line. If you're ready to dive deeper into increasing your profits, I've got a Best Year Ever workshop and a three-part Holiday Profits Challenge waiting for you at wendybatten.com. Let's get you making those simple changes that will bring in more profits without the stress. Strength and sensitivity don't often go hand in hand in one's mind. We relate sensitive to soft, yielding, delicate. Hello, and welcome to Episode 280 of SelfKind with Erica Webb (that's me!). This is a podcast for my fellow Highly Sensitive People! In today's episode, I'm using the classic book ‘Who Sank the Boat' by Pamela Allen to talk about overwhelm and self care. I think this analogy is going to get stuck in your head, in the best possible way.In this episode you will hear:How you can think of the ‘load' of your day being similar to the cow, donkey, sheep and pig jumping aboard a little dinghy. Why it's the tiny little mouse - the smallest of them all - that tends to sink the boatHow you can intervene in this boat-sinking cycle, to either off-load some of those big animals or shrink them so they don't take up so much space.Who knew picture books were so full of wisdom?Mentioned in this episode:Episode 263: Setting Boundaries as a Highly Sensitive PersonEpisodes 266-269: All about managing overstimulation as an HSPEpisode 271: How to Say No as an HSPEpisode 272: How can you honour your sensitivity as an HSP?About your host, Erica Webb:Erica Webb is a registered counsellor, somatic exercise coach and highly sensitive person. Life has its seasons, and lately, I've been going through one of change and transition. It hasn't always been easy, but I've found some tools that have been helping me navigate these shifts with more ease and positivity. One of the most powerful tools I've been using is the mindset I learned from the book The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. This concept has helped me realize that too often, I'm focused on the "gap"—what's missing, what I haven't achieved yet—instead of celebrating the "gain"—how far I've come.In this episode of the podcast, I share how I've been able to shift my thinking and why it's been such a game changer for me.Seeing the Gain Instead of the GapBefore learning about The Gap and the Gain, I often caught myself focusing on what I hadn't done, what still wasn't "perfect," and how much further I had to go. But I've realized that this mindset was holding me back. Now, I consciously focus on my progress—on the "gain." It's a simple, yet powerful, shift in perspective that has allowed me to feel more accomplished, less stressed, and more motivated.I talk about this in the podcast because I know I'm not alone in this. So many of us get stuck in the "gap," feeling like we're not enough or that we're falling behind. But when we focus on the gain, we start to see our lives and our progress in a new, more positive light.Energy Hygiene: Protecting My PeaceAnother important change I've been making is working on my energy hygiene. This includes setting boundaries that help me preserve my energy and stay in a good mental space. One big shift? Putting my phone away an hour or two before bed. Scrolling through social media late at night was draining my energy and making it hard to wind down. Now, I focus on gratitude, often journaling before bed, which helps me reflect on the positive aspects of my day.I also make time for self-care, something that has become non-negotiable during this time of change. Whether it's cleaning up my house, eliminating clutter, or simply taking time to breathe, these small acts of self-care have helped me feel more in control and at peace. How It's Helping My Life: Finances, Relationships & MoreWhat's amazing is how these shifts are impacting other areas of my life. My finances, relationships, and even my activewear business, Muve Life, are all benefiting. With more clarity and focus, I'm able to approach things with a more positive and proactive mindset. It feels like a domino effect—once I started focusing on the gain and cleaning up my energy, everything else started to fall into place. If you're going through a season of change or just feeling stuck, I hope my experiences can help you. It's about making small shifts, staying present, and being kind to yourself along the way. What happens when two highly sensitive people (HSP) sit down for a chat? They make you a 90 minute podcast - lol! I'm joined today by my friend and fellow mindful movement teacher, Addie deHilster. Addie has her own podcast - the Moved to Meditate Podcast - and we thought it would be fun to do a shared episode that airs on both of our shows. This is that conversation. In our chat, we explore our shared and individual experiences as HSPs.We talk about the challenges and gifts of being HSPs, share personal stories and experiences, as well as practical tips and strategies for our fellow HSPs.It's a long one, but that pause button is there! We hope you love sharing our conversation. To learn more about Addie's work, you can visit her here: https://movedtomeditate.yoga/Time Stamps:00:00 Introduction and Episode Overview00:05 Meet Addie DeHilster: A Fellow HSP01:56 Understanding Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP)03:05 Characteristics and Challenges of HSPs06:16 Personal Experiences and Coping Strategies09:11 The Intersection of HSP and Introversion13:06 Discovering and Embracing HSP Traits17:59 Navigating Social Situations as an HSP21:41 Balancing Sensitivity and Life's Demands25:47 Designing a Life that Honors Sensitivity51:28 Navigating Work as a Highly Sensitive Person52:34 Struggles in a Corporate Environment54:05 Finding Meaning and Purpose in Work56:27 Creating a Supportive Work Environment01:01:58 Daily Practices for Managing Sensitivity01:13:42 The Importance of Self-Compassion01:17:49 Balancing Sensitivity and Health Awareness01:31:31 Final Thoughts and Encouragement01:37:21 Outro and How to ConnectShare your thoughts with me over on Instagram or via my website.
