Carl Lee, a Buffalo-based artist, discusses his show “Myoptic.” “Myoptic” was the inaugural exhibition at Undercurrent, and it closed on July 13th.“Myoptic” was made up of four pieces. Three are sculptural: “Telescope House,” “Home Movies,” and “Vision Test.” The fourth is the video installation “Last House.”During the conversation, Carl discusses the personal nature of the works, how they foreground the act of seeing, and how “Last House” in particular addresses the loss brought about by American deindustrialization.Carl references David Schalliol’s “Telescope Houses of Buffalo, New York (2013–Present).”
