So then this happened. And with no notice at all, in the space of a single day, AA Roadwatch disappeared off our airwaves. According to their own announcement, this was a decision made by the AA, which “decided to move away from this service and instead focus on growing other areas of [their] business”. No Panic! There's more than enough fabulous cheese to go round as the Master of Curd, Kevin Sheridan, assured. What a voice has Conor Faughnan who said farewell to the AA earlier this year and put in many shifts on AA Roadwatch which ceased operating recently. Described by Gerry, in the best possible sense, as the "Don" of crime fiction writing, John Connolly spoke about his latest book "The Nameless Ones". The recent lifting of Covid-19 restrictions has seen a “significant spike” in traffic volumes and incidents on the nation’s roads. The AA has said that there has been a 36% increase in traffic incidents following easing of inter-county travel restrictions. To give us the stats, Kieran was joined by Paddy Comyn, Head of Communications at AA Roadwatch. On today’s episode, I’m chatting with an IFTA-nominated broadcaster, journalist and entrepreneur. This week’s guest had no doubt about the path she wanted to take in life. From a young age being surrounded by music and the world of entertainment from her musician father, she found her comfort performing on stage. Following her interests, she enrolled on a one year broadcast journalism course and before graduation secured a role reading the AA Roadwatch traffic news on national radio. A job that would put her future career plans in motion, it was her determination to make it on TV with a televised traffic report that changed everything. Fast forward having stood on the world’s biggest red carpets, fronted her own entertainment programme, Xposé, travelled the globe in an effort to aid developing countries and creating products such as the Magic Hair Brush - here’s what it’s like to be Lorraine Keane. Visit Lorraine's website here and follow her on social media @lorrainekeaneofficial Keep up to date with her charity via her foundation, Fashion Relief Shop the Magic Hair Brush here

NEW YEAR, NEW ME, NEW EPISODE!Well, new year, new episode but same me (i.e total cutie pie/sloth). I hope you all had a great winter/Christmas/Hanukkah (Monica) and shoved your faces full of chocolate and mince pies like gloopy little chompers. But now, a year of wonder, plans and 3-in1 trays lies ahead. The first guest of this new year is my AA Roadwatch inspiration, the dynamic and effervescent Lorraine Keane Devlin. Lorraine and I are *practically* career twins. We have both worked for AA Roadwatch, broadcast with Ian Dempsey and have stunning double barrel names. Alas for me, that is where the similarities end. Lorraine parlayed a morning traffic reporting slot on 2FM into an incredibly successful and lasting career. She's even met the Queen of England and a week before Christmas, she met me, EO'MD, the Queen of Hearts and The 80% podcast. Don't forget to like and subscribe The 80% on iTunes, Soundcloud and Stitcher + it would help so much if you leave a review too! Reviews and downloads push the podcast up the charts and I can rule the podcast school.
