Welcome to Season 6 of Tech Powered Luxury, brought to you with Azure Communications! FFFACE.ME is leading the way in blending AR and retail by integrating AR mirrors, phygital clothes and virtual try-ons into offline and online shopping experience. Dmytro shares how his introduction to AR wasn't exactly love at first sight - but how, over time, he discovered its true potential and developed powerful use cases for the luxury fashion and beauty industries. Dmytro emphasises the need to adapt marketing strategies to the cultural and psychological needs of the next generation, rather than chasing every new technology trend. The main takeaway from this episode is that brands need to balance heritage with thoughtful innovation that add value, boost brand awareness, and drive sales. Created by Zeda the Architect, this event was all about celebrating the vital role that Irish stylists play in shaping, promoting, and advancing the fashion industry while connecting it to the broader design community - often seen as the glue that brings the industry together. The evening consisted of two panel talks, the second moderated by Tech Powered Luxury included Shana Chu, Aoife McNamara, Evan Doherty, Sinead Keenan, Anne O'Shea and Lawson Mpame. What could possibly bring a CEO, a Director, photographer, stylist, producer and designer together? Of course it would have to be a conversation around fashion - the industry that is not quite yet seen as one in Ireland but that's finally starting to make an impact. Just yesterday, two of Ireland's most successful designers - JW Anderson and Simone Rocha - took home two of the biggest prizes at the British Fashion Awards, a testaement to the talent coming from Ireland.

The delicate powerplay of localized strategies to reach the Chinese consumer anywhere, at anytime. The pandemic drastically shifted how Chinese consumers interacted with luxury brands, and the impact of these changes is still being felt. While many brands thrived by focusing on local markets, the return of international travel presents both a challenge and an opportunity: one-third of Chinese consumers are now spending more on luxury goods outside of China. For luxury brands, this means ensuring they can connect with Chinese consumers whether they're shopping in Shanghai or Paris. But achieving this involves more than just having a presence in multiple markets—it demands a deep understanding of China's digital ecosystem and how, in consequence, consumer behavior has evolved the expectation surrounding the luxury experience, “The Chinese luxury consumer has gotten used to the speed, convenience, and rewards of the Chinese digital ecosystem,” explains Jacques. To remain competitive, brands must adapt their digital and operational strategies both locally and internationally, ensuring that Chinese consumers receive the same high-level service globally. Paddy Hogan's transition from the adrenaline-fueled realm of Formula 1 to the dynamic, health-focused dining world of Nutbutter is an intriguing mix of entrepreneurship, innovation, and personal evolution. The core reason behind Nutbutter was creating a healthy lifestyle that combined efficient operations, great design and a better quality of work (and life balance) to everyone involved. Their founding values? Work smarter, not harder. Drawing from Paddy Hogan's experiences with Lewis Hamilton, we explore the dynamic intersection of fashion and Formula 1. In recent years, these two worlds have increasingly merged, showcasing how luxury and high-performance racing influence and inspire each other. The common denominator between Paddy Hogan, Formula 1, Fashion and Luxury? Lewis Hamilton. He coached Paddy Hogan for a Renault Championship just after having won it himself the year prior, and instilled in Nutbutter's founder the essential soft skills that define a winning crew, “he just had that championship mindset”, says Paddy. Formula 1 isn't just about racing; it's a dynamic blend of luxury, fashion, and cutting-edge technology. The world of Formula 1 has always attracted high-end brands and designers, drawn by the sport's inherent glamour and global reach. From the sleek designs of the cars to the personal style of the drivers, fashion started to play a crucial role in the identity of Formula 1. This week we explore the role of education in the sweet spot of where technology meets fashion: how to foster experiential learning to educate the upcoming generation of fashion leaders. Matthew Drinkwater is at the forefront of the Fashion Innovation Agency (FIA) at the London College of Fashion (LCF), driving the integration of technology and fashion education. The FIA acts as a bridge between the fashion industry and emerging tech, promoting experiential learning by allowing students to work hands-on with AI, AR, VR, and other emerging technologies. Fostering innovation in education is crucial for developing creative problem-solvers who can push the boundaries of traditional fashion practices. One of the roles of education is defining the applications of tech in fashion, and creating a space where conversations can happen openly, where boundaries, ethics and best-practices are discussed and implemented through trial and error, creating a blueprint for future professionals. This week, we are thrilled to bring you an exclusive interview with Rachel Hennessy, founder of fashion rental Happy Days. Are you new here? Welcome to our amazing community - keep reading to discover everything about Tech Powered Luxury, our Community Rewards and Substack. Rachel Hennessy leveraged her experience at KPMG and Google before launching her own fashion rental Happy Days in Ireland. The driving force behind the project? Searching for a solution to replace countless one-time purchases that would eventually go to waste. The starting approach set the grounds for her success: understanding what people around her were looking for, and how to include that in her business. The result is a consumer-centric business model that is translated into different services and experiences. Rental as a business model is nothing new in the industry, but ensuring profitability, let alone long-term business health, is still a tricky balance between operating costs and revenues. This week, we are thrilled to bring you an exclusive interview with Hasna Kourda, the award-winning Tunisian entrepreneur, founder of Save Your Wardrobe. Hasna is tackling some of the most complicated issues in the fashion industry: the creation of a circular business model, facilitating care and repair to increase a product's lifecycle. Hasna Kourda's upbringing in Tunisia shaped her vision to solve one of the biggest issues in the fashion system: turning a linear business model into a circular one. Going from “production to consumption to waste” into “production to consumption to repair and recycle to a new production” is no easy feat. There are several external components that influence our purchasing drivers and the system demand creation. Becoming aware of them is the first step into changing them. Not everything is lost. Hasna is bridging the gap and distributing the responsibility between brands and consumers when it comes to managing a product's lifecycle. There are other initiatives and players who are also creating a more sustainable future. This week, we are thrilled to bring you an exclusive interview with David De Patoul & Richard McSweeney, the co-founders of Strike Digital. We bring to you a masterclass on all things digital marketing: how to start, what to keep your focus on and how to succeed in a crowded market, leveraging David and Richard's expertise on how to best work with the algorithms on different platforms. David De Patoul & Richard McSweeney were both working in Meta when they spotted a gap in the market: there were a lot of digital marketing agencies that worked in the platform on a day-to-day basis but didn't know how to get the best results out of it. Their internal knowledge of the do's and don'ts of Meta and their expertise of the digital ecosystem in its entirety helped brands to have a solid strategy and secure return on investments. Their guaranteed successful approach allowed them to scale not only their clients' businesses, but especially their own agency: hiring in-house experts from Google and TikTok to serve brands with a 360º approach. What is a digital strategy? How do you know when to start investing in paid media? What do you need to keep an eye on when doing so? How do you leverage each platform's target and algorithm to the best of your investment? This season has seen us dive into all elements and topics that are important in the world of luxury and tech today, across many different product categories: hair care, fashion, beauty, interiors, henna, knitwear, and new technological developments that impact these categories; from AI that can eliminate sizing inconsistencies within fashion to blockchain technologies combined with insurance for luxury goods to the role of social media in the luxury industry from the perspective of Instagram's Head of Creators and a leading luxury creator.I'm often asked “how can I learn more about luxury and technology?”, from different types of people from all over the world, but in general almost everyone fits into 2 categories. The first category is pretty straightforward, people with little to no experience in this space, often students, who dream of landing a role at the crossroads of luxury and tech. The second category is moreso people who are either working in luxury OR tech already, and they know that understanding the other side will massively help them grow the business that they either own or contribute to. To be honest, there isn't a one-shot online course or certificate that exists today that covers the crossovers of luxury and technology, which is why this podcast exists! For almost 8 years I have been teaching courses about luxury and tech, starting with very focused topics that only looked at certain components, and now as my own experience has developed, I can touch on broader themes and of course, bring in experts from all over the world to learn directly from them. So here, with this podcast, Tech Powered Luxury gives you a free online resource to learn about everything that happens within this space.Thank you for listening in to 3 seasons of Tech Powered Luxury, there's a lot more to come! Shana Chu started her fashion career in a division we don't see on the runway: protective garments. Nonetheless, the challenges she faced as a garment technologist are the same we see across the high street all the way to haute couture: sizing inconsistency. The challenge of having cohesive and aligned sizing within a single brand, nevermind across the entire fashion industry, seems to be an ever evolving and expanding issue which costs the environment, brands and the end customer in the form of waste, lost profits and dissatisfaction. Shana set out to tackle the problem of online returns, but later realised she wasn't addressing the root of the issue, which lay in the garment production itself. From her years visiting factory floors and seeing the misalignment from deisgner to production, she developed a platform that feeds information in real time, taking into account the composition of a textile to the environment of the room a garment is produced, all the way to any eventual dying processes that may impact the garment and how a garment will change after it has been washed. Shana explains why we're never the exact same size across our favourite brands, even when it comes to the same style of an item but in two different colours, and how she had her lightbulb moment while in the shower. Shana recently announced a fundraise of €700,000, backed by Delta Partners, Enterprise Ireland and Haatch, to expand Tailr and tackle sizing inconsistency for designers, brands and manufacturers alike. In this episode of Tech Powered Luxury, Bijan talks about how he was born and raised in France from Persian parents and from a very young age had a passion for computers and the internet. Bijan also had a talent and love for storytelling: as a child he would be the elected family member to tell stories about vacations, having the flair for creating suspense and drama. Surrounded by academics, Bijan's communication skills and love for technology created the perfect combination for a career in tech sales, where the objective of any meeting in a business context is simple: drive action. Bijan explains the main fears that people have around public speaking and how to overcome them, how as a sales executive he became the most in-demand public speaking expert at Google, and how the layoffs effected him and led to leaving California to return to Europe and starting a new professional chapter.
